Burnley and QPR attempts to sign Craig Bryson

Derby midfielder Craig Bryson is wanted by QPR.

Bryson, 27, scored 16 goals last season and featured against the R’s in the Championship play-off final.

Having secured promotion back to the top flight courtesy of Bobby Zamora’s last-minute goal in that dramatic victory at Wembley, Rangers are keen to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.

And they are one of several clubs interested in Scotland international Bryson, who moved to Derby from Kilmarnock three years ago.

He scored two hat-tricks for the Rams last term, one of them coming against their East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp wants to sign at least one midfielder this summer and was hoping to land both Bryson and Steve Sidwell.

But he has missed out on Sidwell, who will join Stoke on a two-year deal when his Fulham contract expires at the end of the month.

Cannot sell, the amount of goals he will get this season if he doesn't get injured will be so valuable it would not be worth the selling price.

Heard the 60 million number thrown around about how much money you get for promotion well its going to be much more valuable to us if he stays and gets promoted than compared to if we sell him for 3-4 million. Well that's my opinion anyway.

Also surprised it has took this long for clubs to be linked with him in the papers.

After the season we've had, all of our players are going to be linked with moves away.

It will be difficult keeping hold of them but if we can, we all know we could be very tough to beat.

I'm hoping the players attitudes stay as they are and aren't swayed by money too much after seeing Brayford's bad move. Yes, they can earn more but most of them get paid a reasonable amount for playing on a weekly basis in a team that plays attractive football, with players they know and work well with and to 20-30,000 passionate and knowledgeable (mostly) fans.

If the players are happy to stay, then it's all about the board staying strong and having the financial base to be able to reject such offers.

Don't like this at all - Bryson would be insane to turn down a move to QPR.

As long as the 750k release clause is spurious we shouldn't be too worried though. We appear to be very financially stable at present but restricted by the implications of FFP. As we don't appear to need to sell we can really hold QPR to ransom and provide SMC with a real warchest. IMO Bryson will go, but hopefully for £4m plus.

Why would he join a club that would only be capable of paying his wages for a season. QPR may have just been promoted but they can not continue to operate in such a manor. We can already see it. They will go crazy in January signing players on ridiculous wages in a bid to stay up. They need an entire overhaul of their squad.

Take a look at their squad:

Why will QPR struggle to pay his wages? They are backed by hugely wealthy individuals and now have a PL windfall to play with. It may be that they have to pay a FFP fine (although I doubt they will ever be asked for a penny) - but sadly they have the finances to do so and still double Bryson's salary. Even if they get relegated again they have enhanced parachute payments to mitigate losses and Bryson would be a very usefull player to have in a Championship title campaign.
