Bris Vegas Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Just like to put on record my gratitude to the DCFC staff.. We're guaranteed a playoff spot before even kicking off tonight. Well done, a fabulous season regardless of what happens over the next 6 weeks.
Bris Vegas Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 Yes, Reading lost, Bournemouth lost, Brighton drew... The only teams which can now mathematically finish above us are QPR, Wigan and Ipswich.
Leicester Ram Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Thinking about it, if you'd told me this time last year that we'd be 3rd in the league and guaranteed a place in the play-offs with 4 games left, I wouldn't have believed you. Considering the last few years staleness, this really has been crazy. Even at the beginning of the season, being optimistic I thought we could have snatched 6th at best, but to do so well in such great style is unprecedented. The future's bright.
Bris Vegas Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 Well assuming Burnley win, I'll be correct once again with my pre-season predictions that we will have nothing to play for come Easter time.
DcFc Dyycheee Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Well done everyone involved, did not expect this when we started this season, McClaren has proved me and a lot of other people wrong.
Day Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Would never have happened if Nigel was still here, 3 cheers for Sam Rush, McClaren & Simpson... Hip hip horaaay Hip hip horaaay Hip hip horaaay
jimbobram Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Brilliant news then, seasons not over though boys, but lets enjoy the rest of the season Wembley, Wembley we're the famous Derby County and we're going to Wembley
Ambitious Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Fantastic season, both Nigel and Steve deserve credit. However, I don't want to start a debate on this. We've more than deserved it, we followed on from our home form last season and carried it into away games. I think that's the biggest reason we are, where we are. Now, we need to take our form, grit and determination into our last 4, or 7 games... We've been the second best team in the division under Steve, that's why we can, and perhaps will win the play-offs.
Carl Sagan Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Congratulations to all concerned. A glorious season that's revived my love for the club and of football, when I was in danger of beoming disinterested. My take is I want to play whoever finishes 6th (with teams currently falling over themselves not to take that last spot). So pedal to the metal to stay ahead of QPR and Wigan, and let them fight it out. We are the second best team in the league, but just gave everyone a bit too much of a start, but let's finish strongly and get it done. We've won the battle - now let's win the war!
CumbrianRam Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Good, now no silly threads about how we may miss out on the top 6.
TroyDyer Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Well done Steve and Simmo. Took a team with potential, and made it a reality. Feels nice not to be pissed off at 5pm most Saturdays.
ossieram Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Brilliant stuff. No matter what happens now, This has been a great season and exceeded all expectations.

Guest Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Super effort. Well done dcfc! now the hard work begins!
Ambitious Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Out of all that could, realistically, finish in the play-offs... who would like to play the most? Queens Park Rangers, Wigan, Brighton, Reading, Ipswich, Bournemouth, Blackburn, Forest, Middlesbrough and Watford. 1. Bournemouth 2. Watford 3. Forest 4. Reading 5. Blackburn 6. Ipswich 7. Brighton 8. Middlesbrough 9. Queens Park Rangers 10. Wigan
