CumbrianRam
Just over a week until the main tournament, but a big game in the qualifying today. If Steve Davis loses to Craig Steadman, he will be off the professional tour after next season 36 seasons on. All the draws etc here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_World_Snooker_Championship
froggg
Really looking forward to this, can't see beyond Ronnie though, my outsiders would be Robertson Murphy and Ding.
CumbrianRam
Looking at the draw, think the semi finalists will be Ronnie, Ding, Carter (good WC record, but this quarter is weak in terms of good form) and Robertson. Selby has not had a great season, neither Trump. Higgins plays well in patches, but don't think he is where he was a few years ago, Fu can play well but is Mr inconsistent and Murphy is slowy getting back to his best and had a couple of 147s. The rest bar. Just a shame Ding/Ronnie can't be the final. Harder to beat Ronnie in long format, but it can be done but players just have a mental block against him. Ding has that a little. Like Hendry in his prime, some players are scared of being in his half!

CumbrianRam
Robin Hull of Finland knocks out Peter Ebdon 10-8, first time in his 23 year career Ebdon will be absent of the Crucible. Hull's last appearance was in 2002, when Ebdon won the title.
