Day
Tottenham and England striker Jermain Defoe has agreed to join Major League Soccer side Toronto FC. The 31-year-old will join the Canadian side on 28 February, meaning he is still eligible to play for Tottenham. http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/25680333 Bit daft ahead of World Cup year, a few Prem clubs would have him in the first team, cracking finisher and you never know with injuries. No chance of going to Brazil now.
uttoxram75
He's chosen money over playing in the world cup. Some papers saying he's not joining Toronto til mid-march and Arry will have him on loan until then.
Ramarena
He's after the big pay check, he's also made sure he's missed out on most of a harsh Toronto winter. They're struggling at the moment as well. He'll probably buy a bling pad in The Beaches……. Git!!!
CumbrianRam
Even if he did go the World Cup he would have never played anyway.

AndyinLiverpool
Defoe has always flattered to deceive. He didn't stand much chance of playing in the World Cup.

He couldn't even get a game for club ahead of less-than-proliferate colleagues.

Mostyn6
this shows how little some of you pay attention to the actual qualities of a player. There's no better striker of a ball from 20 yards out in the Premier League. He's awesome with either foot and his rate of hitting the target is massively superior to everyone else. Why do you think he hasn't made it to the top 10 strikers list?
Mostyn6
http://www.footballtarget.com/2013/11/english-premier-league-top-10-scorers-time/ Couple of interesting comments on Defoe over this week, so I'm interested. Why do you think he hasn't made it to the top 10 strikers list? Only 2 of those are still playing, and I'd question the credentials of the person compiling that list too. I wouldn't put Defoe down as an all time great, but of the current crop, his natural ability is up there. I'd have loved to have seen him presented with the chances someone like Andy Cole had in his career. Tell you what, If I was Moyes, i'd nip in with a cheeky bid.
