Ovis aries
I think they have done all they can, and are just making him comfortable near home.
blackNwhites
It's not unheard of for somebody to be completely written off after a serious brain injury and to come back to pretty the same person they used to be. That's not to say it won't be a difficult few years for him though.
Phoenix
Depends on the extent and area of the brain damage. My stepson came out of coma after a few days. That was 4 years ago. He'll never walk or talk again and has locked-in syndrome. After 4 years of intensive therapy, all he has is slight movement in one thumb. He has limited eye movement to indicate yes or no, so all communication as to be done on a yes/no basis, like spelling words with someone pointing to an alphabet on a board. He obviousy needs 24/7 care in a specialist care home, and is fed via a tube in his stomach. I can confidently predict Schumacher is unlikely ever to walk again.
