Srg
http://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/article/plaza-pride-park-update-201213-1246357.aspx Any ideas why this might be the case? Risky investment? Makes sense. See how busy the velodrome is, review capacity and possibly get bigger and better investments.
RIMBAUD
as it says - they are waiting to see what needs/potential business is there when the velodrme is up and running. And then act...
ketteringram
Where was this meant to be? Not exactly much room around the stadium now.
Duracell
Think it looks like it is what it is. The Plaza was meant to give people more of a reason to visit the area, but now you look at that whopping great Velodrome next to the iPro, and the demand and need has changed. Duracell
Where was this meant to be? Not exactly much room around the stadium now. Meant to be in the West Stand Carpark I think? Funny how the modern stadiums get criticised for being fields in the middle of nowhere. Pride Park's going to be absolutely surrounded in a decade's time. No different to the old grounds, apart from the function of the buildings which surround them.
ilkleyram
And then the club will complain that there's no room to expand, to build bigger stands to fit in all the extra thousands who want to watch us in the new European League. And so it will all start again..............
Doink
First post on here in a long time but thought i'd give my opinion why it may be on hold. I remember the plaza was downgraded from the original plans and made smaller, could it be that beacuse we are withing touching distance of the PL the powers that be are waiting to see what happens, it could be they see the revised plans too small again IF we were to in the PL again? That's what I think. The plans need to accommodate a potential increase in demand, which is why they should be scrapped in their current form. That area of PP could become a sporting hub. Already there a several gyms, 5 a side football pitches, tennis courts, a football stadium and now a velodrome with a gym and other sporting facilities. Perhaps the council will consider a new athletics stadium and Olympic sized pool too.
ChaddesdenRam
This was the previous Plaza plan: in-between the Velodrome and the main entrance of the stadium. ChaddesdenRam
Wonder if iPro have said something too. Maybe iPro want the plaza to be called the the iPro Stadium Plaza, instead of the Plaza @ Pride Park.
TroyDyer
Or they have seen Westfield going down the pan and figured there isn't the demand.
