I had a couple of pints of that Blue Moon last year in the absence of any proper Belgian beer.

Peasant at the bar shoved a bloody slice of orange in it. It is an American take on a Hoegaarden-style witbier which has a hint of orange taste anyway and I must admit was very refreshing - after I had taken the frigging Farmers Market surplus produce out of it.

The claim from the barman was that the Blue Moon brewery (owned by Miller Coors now, ffs) said that the slice of orange "enhanced the flavour".

A swift internet search revealed the following…

Keith Villa (the founder of the company) admitted the orange slice garnish was mostly for attention-getting when Blue Moon is served in a bar

taste testing involved a chocolate orange the other week ;)

Just got my hands on some pacifico clara, so looking forward to sampling that too.

Bris would probably be able to tell you what to expect. I can't say I'm familiar with many Mexican beers (apart from the god-awful 'Sol' back in the Yuppie early 1990's when I worked at the Stock Exchange)

I'm rubbish at reviewing things so I'll just stick an 8/10 on it. It went down very well, and it wasn't long before I was getting emotional and posting crap on facebook. I'd point to some online reviews, but it's a brand new release so I can't find any!

I will take this opportunity to recommend 'Sourced Market' at St Pancras station, good little selection of beers and pretty much all under £4
