Christmas

Plans - always have son and daughter (and offspring) home for Christmas. I shall, naturally, be attending all Rams games.
Family - see above.
Food - yes, lots. Wife and daughter are brilliant cooks - turducken on standby
Drink - the occasional snifter for medicinal purposes.
Pressies - we traditionally buy each other loads, and they are always presented in Santa Sacks (at least one sack per person). We've probably bought my Grandson 50 pressies.
Cost - well into 4 figures.
Moans and groans - it's still over a fortnight away.

Whilst I like Christmas, commercialisation has taken away a lot of the magic I remember as a kid (though,of course,I'm no longer a kid).Must admit that whilst many plates are piled higher than most could possibly eat,I often spare a thought for those unfortunates around the world who'll have next to nothing to eat. There just seems to be a massive disconnect to what the one whose birth is being celebrated was all about. But,yes,I'll stuff myself.

Plans - None
Family - Not here
Food - Whatever I decide to cook on the day.. Probably leftover spagetti
Drink - I might treat myself to a Coca Cola
Pressies - I might get something from the Missus.. Most likely new shoes
Cost - Not sure what I'm getting the missus yet
Moans and groan - it's just another day to me

" Stockholm is dreaming of a white Christmas.. Just like the ones we always get"

Cant live here and not love Christmas. Santa is from around this way too.

We have Swedish Christmas dinner ( cooked ham, salmon, meatballs, Sill, Knacker Brod) on 24th then English Christmas dinner 25th.

Family flying in from Norland and UK.

Stockholm city looks fantasy fab. Ice skating parks, Scandinavian Christmas markets.

Looooove it. In your grumpy faces grinches. X

I think I want an invite. I hate Christmas what with having no proper family life and refusing to be a charity case for well-meaning friends! lol

The day itself is all about the kids, washing up and making sure everyone's glass/cuppa stays full.  A bit of a drag, but worth it for the kids.

For me it's all about and the 16 straight days off work, and the endless booze and excessive quantities of cold meat, nuts, cheese and pickles I snack on for a fortnight, the chance to read a few books and only rouse myself out of the house to go to the pub or watch Derby. Fire on, feet up, bottle open. ******* epic.

It's easy to forget some people don't have a good time at Christmas, so I do spare a thought for them.

Dav is also kindness personified. He says if there's any hard done by peeps down on their luck and they walk past our house, he will give them a donation in the form of a thrown sprout.

Honestly his generosity knows no bounds..:-|

Don't think of yourself a charity case, if your friends ask you to share dinner with them, do it :-).

If your friends really love you mate then they will be delighted to have you over for the day. Times like these you need your true friends. Only you thinking you are a charity case. Not true at all.

We alternate Utch. So best of both worlds really. Occasionally go up to Mrs Stockholms family in the North too. Now thats an experience.

I love our UK Christmas trips very much aswell. Usually find me in the Tavern at Denstone or the newly refurbished Duncombe Arms at Ellastone.

Not been for a night out in Utch for years. Last time Fozzys bar was open so thats how far back.

My old dad is in Norbury so Duncombe Arms is well handy.

Chris runs a great pub there in Denstone. The Christmas lights they put up in the village are " out there maaaan" too. Dont be coming out of that pub too drunk at Christmas. Its freaky.

For DCFC Fans regular readers who might not have ever been to Uttoxter he simply means its got chairs and a typed menu!!
