And before that for something memorable you have to go right back to the 1969-70 season

When we had a 7 game and a 6 game winning streak.

......so

Its official.....WE ARE QUITE GOOD

5 straight league wins suggests - but does not guarantee - a play off finish.

6 straight wins suggests play offs or automatic promotion

7 straight league wins would be the best since sept 1969.

One game at a time sweet Jesus

That's all I'm askin' of you

Just give them the strength

To do every game what they have to do

Blackpool's gone sweet Jesus

And Charlton are next to come

Lord, help them Saturday, show them the way

One game at a time

has Albert posted since Nigel Clough left?

6 October was the last time, he said

A good appointment, and hopefully the kind of stability and faith this board has shown in the past will be enough to see the best out of McClaren. It is sad to see Nigel leave, and I'm still sure he would have gotten the job done eventually, but ultimately the board clearly felt it was time for a change, and honestly, there had been a growing sense of discontent at the rate of progress, rightly or wrong. Ultimately the board have played their best card though, and no longer have that cover any more. If this appointment goes sour, and we end up going through a string of managers, the last 5 years were for absolutely nothing, and the confidence and image of stability that they have built will be gone. I do hope that even if this season doesn't go well that we stick by McClaren, if they have been brave enough to make the change they need to be brave enough to stick by it.

It's been a positive start, but ultimately we have to be cautious and keep in mind that we will have periods of poor form this season, even if it goes entirely to plan. Hopefully it pays off the board, and this positivity gets the desired result for the board.

I don't have any problem with that at all. A cautious welcome. Like me, he probably got fed up of the snide remarks and imaginary internet point-scoring that seem to be so important to some. I stuck it out as a 'voice of reason'.

Yeah it is a fair comment. Didn't see it myself at the time, was on holiday.

As for snide remarks and internet point-scoring, I think you're being a bit dramatic. A few disagreements here and there about whether or not Clough could/would've done what McClaren is doing now, is nowhere near as bad as it was in the 10 months before it.

Not dramatic at all. There was a bloody 200+ comment thread (which you contributed to extensively) just 2 or 3 days ago, the entire and only reason for which was internet point scoring and trolling (where the OP 'demanded an apology', for goodness sake).

I'm so bloody sick of it that I even went to have a look at Popside earlier today, to see if it was worth moving to there.

Needless to say, five minutes later I decided that it wasn't. Still full of the same cretins as it has been for the last 10 years.
