"Derby are the best team we've played this season,"

BOURNEMOUTH boss Eddie Howe says Derby County are the best team his side have faced this season.

The Rams beat Howe's Cherries 1-0 at Dean Court on Saturday to move within a point of the Championship play-off places.

Jamie Ward scored the only goal of the game in the 61st minute.

"Derby are the best team we've played this season," said Howe.

"They kept the ball very well, which made it difficult for us to get a foothold in the game and try to dominate possession as we like to do.

"They starved us of the ball, really, and it became difficult for us to get some concerted pressure in the game.

"Ultimately, we didn't work their goalkeeper enough."

Howe, who led Bournemouth to promotion from League One last season, added: "I don't like losing. It's certainly not something we're used to.

"When you're not winning on a consistent basis, you know you need to do better and we're certainly working towards that.

"We know the areas we need to improve but we've had a big step up in level - and I think there's no bigger example than this game and the quality of the team we were playing."

were we really that good yesterday? From what I heard, it was more of a grind-it-out game. I wouldn't have thought any spectator would put it in our top ten performances this season.

Wouldnt say 'grind it out', but you're right to an extent. We kept the ball well at times and were very organised/disciplined. They never really looked like scoring.

But it's slowly getting to the stage now where our 'average' counts as quality in this piss poor league.

Our expectations are higher.

This is what that moaning cnut Bris has been asking for. Just to play some decent attacking football and this season we have. Now our average/poorer performances still have good quality compared to the rest of the *****.

It was ok. We actually looked as though we never got out of first gear - luckily we never had to.

We have lost a bit going forward in favour of keeping our shape. It's a learning curve. Once it naturally clicks we will be a very good side.

i thought it was just good tactics while Russell was out we packed the midfield and now hes coming back im sure well be going more attacking minded.

are we still the top scorers?

I think we need to stop saying things like, "well we looked good because they were crap." We make teams look crap

We are the best footballing side in the league. I haven't seen any teams in our division that can pass the ball like us.

I think the 2 weeks off left out passing ability slightly off. With our style, if passes aren't weighted properly or played without absolute accuracy, we won't penetrate and organised defence. The goal was the first time every pass in a movement was perfect.

I thought that the grass seemed long compared to Pride Park standards which may have caused passes to fall short, especially in the first half.
