Did anyone else just hear him say "You don't especially look forward to it" when talking about the Forest match?

There's a tweet from going round saying he said it, if true this is mental!

I think it's out of context. I heard an interview where he was asked of he was looking forward to two away games and he replied you don't really look forward to playing away from home.

I ******* dread this game.

We could be top of the league and they could be a part time sunday league side and i'd still be shitting it. Imagine it must be horrible for managers, local games

Give the guy a break.

Going back there means Billy Davies, memories of his own playing career and his Dad, and Mum, the most tense match of the season, an away game, non stop abuse from the gumps. And he knows it means a lot to all of us and that if we lose the 'Clough out' brigade get a boost.

From his point of view there can't be much to look forward to, unless we win of course. But that joy comes after the event and always has to be in relative privacy

Why is it mental? Bizarre.

Feel for modern managers having to put up with this constant analysing *****.

"Do you know what? I absolutely can not wait... The coach going along the A52 makes me feel completely euphoric, as does walking down the tunnel"

That better?

Absolutely spot on, I don't look forward to this game in the slightest and I have absolutely no tangible association with either club besides being a Derby fan. You can only imagine what it feels like to Nigel with the history involved and the fact that it means so much to the fans.

I hope we win because this place will be unbearable if we don't!

For me far to much emphasis put on what florist do and what we do by comparison , and the head to head against them....

I would rather lose both games to them

as long as we beat weeds !!   :p

For me, if the manager dreads it, fair enough, and, as ilkleyram said there are a lot of connotations, but to come out and say it on TV is bang out of order in my humble opinion! He needs to bottle that stuff up and motivate his boys!

I have just seen the interview in full, I usually buzz for this fixture, but he has me deflated, I'm almost glad that florest cut our ticket allocation and I couldn't get one!

And yet I've just watched an interview with Chris Martin where he's said the lads know how important this fixture is and they will be massively up for it.

I've watched numerous interviews over the last couple of years where the players have said the same, Ward, Buxton, Barker, Brayford, Martin, Bryson.

ALL of them have come out at some point and said the players are well aware of the history and of how much a win means to Nigel because of his connections.

Throw into the mix Billy Davies is a horrible little **** who will have his players using every dirt trick in the book to get us riled, the last time we played when he was in charge he didn't have the courtesy to shake Nigels hand. The fact that Nigel probably hates Davies for the crap he left behind and the money he wasted on that crap. The fact that there is a high chance it will kick off at some point on Saturday and then there will be a massive reaction to that.

When you add to that that the majority of Forest fans hate him, even though he was was a legend and his dad was a legend and they've done feck all but wallow since he left but they still hate him.

He;s going to get hammered by a few ****** either side of the fence, he's got answer stupid questions about whether the game is important to him in the build up.

He spent 10 years there as a player, a lot of his backroom spent time there as a player. No matter what Mostyn would have us believe, the winning mentality he grew up around was massive.

He's not welcome at their ground and he doesn't like the manager. I can imagine it's hell for him to have to go there and be reminded of some great and some horrible times for him, as a person, as a player and as a manager. The way it ended for him and his dad wasn't the way it should have ended. HIs last season in particular would have left a scar that will never heal, and I don't just mean the relegation. He had to watch it all end badly and he couldn't do anything to stop it.

Maybe Fawaz who goes on about how he recognises history and how much he loved Brian Clough, maybe he can show Nigel some respect and give him a warm welcome?

The Forest fans are a disgrace for turning on one of their own like that, just the same as I never understood why DLF would spray Brians car, imagine that Derby fans hating his Dad, how could you?

Just because he went to manage your rivals, you cant ever take away what he's achieved, and there I'm talking both Cloughs, both clubs and both set of fans.

Everyone will be hyping this game up, there's enough hostility and excitement already without Nigel stirring it up.

This game is massive, it always is massive and it always will be massive. Anyone who needs someone else to get them "up" for this game might as well pack the game in.

It's just 1 game out of 46.

However the way I feel about the game depends on the result. Which is a bit fickle but oh well.

If we win I gloat about it to Forest fans and go on about how it will kick us on now beating a playoff hopeful team.

But if we lose I tell everyone that it's just one game.

Fickle I know but oh well.

Crikey! I've watched this forum a week before joining, but i didn't realise just how loyal it's members are to Nigel! Maybe I made a mistake joining, I thought forums were a place to spark reasoned debates, not get shot down for conflicting opinions

Answered your own question there fella. Conflicting opinions! Not everybody sees what Clough said as a problem....

Shot down? Seems more like you got pretty reasoned responses to your incorrect opinion of a quote out of context.

I don't think anyone has shot you down. You put one view and others put their view (debate!!). My opinion while I am on here is that it does not create the slightest problem for me, can't see why it is even brought up but that is your right of course. If you prefer a Clough bashing thread then have a look each time we lose (don't waste your time looking after we win :-) )

I wouldn't like to be Clough on Saturday.

Imagine the response if we lose? Might put me off going to ipswich at home - I hate our fans when we hit a rough patch. No support just the blame game and boo's - I'd rather toss my Saturday off pervin' in the city centre
