Phil Brown has revealed his interest in Nancy’s Marc-Antoine Fortune and Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood, while rumours persist that he's closing in on Giles Barnes of Derby County.

Fortune's impressive form in the Premier League for West Brom means there's no shortage of takers, with

Celtic, Fulham and Wolves also being linked.

The transfer fee payable is likely to be in the region of £2.5 million.

"Marc-Antoine Fortune is a player that we're interested in,†Brown told the Hull Daily Mail. "We have discussed terms with his club and I would say we're probably one of three serious contenders.

"We've done our business with his club and we remain hopeful.

"He's someone who caught the eye and captured everyone's imagination in the second half of last season."

Brown also confirmed his interest in Harewood. "Players with Premier League experience would interest us and Marlon Harewood is that type of player," Brown added.

"He's got good ability and he's a big and powerful forward. He is the type of player that we are looking for and there's interest from us.

"I don't know the ins and outs of his current situation. Aston Villa have got their business to do and that's up to them."

Meanwhile, Barnes is expected to cost £2m.

If you notice there is no quotes from Brown on Barnes yet there are for the other two players, probably a load of cock and balls rumour.

Derby manager Nigel Clough has rejected Hull City’s offer to take Giles Barnes on loan for a season.

Hull boss Phil Brown gave Barnes his first-team debut at 17 while in charge at Pride

Park.

Fulham wanted to take Barnes on loan, but Clough told both clubs it will take an offer of £2m before Derby agree to sell.
