Hamilton said in an interview with the beeb that Vettel's dominance will bore fans as it did with him during the Schumacher era.

Vettel is a brilliant driver, but I reckon a number of the drivers in F1 could with a race with his car, it's just that good of a design. Which to me just shows how boring F1 is. Will definitely try and get into touring cars and moto gp again.

anyone watch the speedway last night? tai woffinden from britain won the world title, imo much more exciting than f1

Watching paint dry, then age and then peal off a wall is more exciting than F1.

Do you know why its called F1?

Its because F1 is the button you press when you need help on a PC, hence you need help if you end up accidentally watching or liking F1 in its current format.

New engines next year, and the aero won't be the be all and end all. Engine manufacturers are going to get it wrong. We're going to have to get used to drivers dropping out of races...

Vettel won't have it so easy next season. Renault won't be able to supply Red Bull with an engine as good as Mercedes or Ferrari can.

Congratulations to Sebastien Vettel. Yes, he has the best car, but if you understand the sport you'd recognise that it's his genius which contributes to its dominance. Newey can design the car he wants knowing he has the driver with the ability to drive it the way it should be driven, through talent and hard work.

Hamilton and Alonso have the raw talent, but neither are as dedicated to the cause. Hamilton has more raw speed than the lot of them, but he's not as strong mentally as Alonso.

I believe they're both better drivers than Vettel; but with each season, I'm getting less convinced of it.

Grosjean another podium, this time from the back of the grid, the Frenchman is finally delivering on his potential hope he gets a win, but unlikely. Good race by Perez in a disappointing year from him and McLaren.

Think (hope) Merc, Ferrari and McLaren have been holding back for next year but don't see McLaren being in hunt next year and the next two years will be transition for them, with the new tech team and Honda engine in 2015. Also the seem unsure on drivers, Button, Alonso, Perez, Magnussen, Hulkenberg all linked.

Merc have done much better than expect and the rumours about their new engine look pretty good and Hamilton always improves his motivation when he has a top car, which has has had for some races this year, Rosberg will play the solid no2 role and will beat Hamilton in several races, bit like Button did and Rosberg has done today. The have built a strong team in the past year so they should push on.

Ferrari should also improve, however quali maybe an issue as Alonso and Kimi have struggled in this aspect this year, but both still deliver on race day (bar today).

Lotus might be wildcards with a talented Grosjean/Hulk lineup with potential new investment, but think it will be not quite front running, but ahead of midfield.

Red Bull will still have a decent car next year, but it is a Newey trait that they sometime lack reliability and this might be their Achilles heel next year, I'm interested in Ricciardo's progress but think he will struggle initially but if the car is fast should be able to take race wins, but may lack the consistency Vettel shows.

Don't really see Toro Rosso, Force India, Williams, Sauber fighting for the podium places next year, but you never know. Caterham and Marussia will still be back markers.

Some the of the races haven't been bad this year, but DRS, Pirelli need to be toned down a bit and Mc, Merc, Lotus, Ferrari all need to do a much better job and we could have another 2012.

Expect the next two races to be Vettel walkovers but some interesting news.

Kimi Raikkonen is to miss the final two races of the 2013 Formula 1 season after electing to undergo back surgery next week.

The Finn had been at the centre of a pay dispute with his Lotus bosses in Abu Dhabi last weekend, but it appeared that matters had been sorted so he could compete in the United States and Brazil.

However, in a fresh twist, the back issues that nearly forced Raikkonen out of the Singapore Grand Prix earlier this year flared up enough for him to choose to take early surgery.

Rather than travel to the United States for the final events of the season, Raikkonen will now fly to Salzburg for the operation.

His manager Steve Robertson confirmed to AUTOSPORT that Raikkonen's 2013 campaign was over, as it is estimated that there is a four-week recovery period.

The news was first broken in Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat.

Had Raikkonen waited until after the season, then there was a chance that it could have impacted on his preparations for 2014 with Ferrari.

Robertson told AUTOSPORT: "In an ideal world it would have been nice to finish the season with Lotus in the final two grands prix.

"However, due to the severe pain that Kimi is having, sadly it is not possible."

It is unclear how Raikkonen's absence will impact on his pay issues with Lotus, especially with the team's new investor Quantum Motorsports having not yet finalised its 35 per cent buy-in to the outfit.

Lotus now has just a few days to decide on a replacement driver. It could decide to promote reserve driver Davide Valsecchi to the race seat or swoop for another available driver.

Kevin Magnussen is now favourite to land the second 2014 seat at McLaren, AUTOSPORT has learned, following a series of meetings at the team over the past week.

Although it had appeared in Abu Dhabi that Sergio Perez was closing in on a new deal following some strong performances, his lacklustre pace at Yas Marina prompted fresh questions about his future.

With McLaren having made it clear for months that Perez's consistency was its main concern, it is understood that the outfit was unimpressed about how his race in Abu Dhabi compared to that of Jenson Button, who had been forced to pit for a new nose early on.

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh even publicly said that Perez's result there was "disappointing", while deliberately praising Button's form on a weekend when the team had been expected to take a decent haul of points.

In the wake of that race, senior McLaren staff members are understood to have spent time this week evaluating the driver issue.

Although no final decision has been taken, sources suggest that there is now a widespread feeling within the team that Magnussen should be given the nod, and it is suggested that he is actually now favourite to replace Perez.

As well as winning the Formula Renault 3.5 championship this year, Magnussen has impressed McLaren in his two F1 test outings.

Only last month Whitmarsh praised his pace amid a push to get him an F1 seat in 2014.

"He has had two runs in an F1 car [and] in Abu Dhabi, on his third flying lap, he did a time that was good enough for sixth on the grid, which is pretty impressive," said Whitmarsh.

"Back surgery", eh. If he was still in the hunt for a WDC, he wouldn't be having his op now.

Magnussen deserves the drive, he's had a great season, whilst Perez hasn't. Perez hasn't even been particularly bad and it's a bit harsh on him, but McLaren need to stop fannying about with average drivers.
