Rasiak anyone ?

With money too tight to mention at Vicarage Road it always seemed unlikely that the Hornets would be able to swoop for any player wanting more than a bag of nuts and some chocolate buttons this summer.

And it`s proving just so after Watford manager Brendan Rodgers admitted that Grzgorz Rasiak wages - even with the Pole star "willing to take a 15% pay cut" - are still too hot for the club coffers to handle.

Rasiak, who has reportedly seen a switch to Sheffield Wednesday collapse over his personal terms, is on £10k a week AFTER tax.

Brendan Rodgers told the W`Observer "...it is likely to be his last big contract so he need to maximize it for his family and we do not have the finances to compete".

The gaffer added "salary is important for players and we cannot match it so if he can get it elsewhere then fine."

In truth, Rasiak may find it difficult to find a suitable suitor what with the credit crunch in full swing and Championship sides looking to trim their wage bills.

And Rodgers did stress that all was not lost by insisting "there has been contact between the the clubs…there are negotiations and the club are speaking with his agent".

But when the gaffer starts talking of a player who "loved" his time in WD18 then you can`t help but get the sense even the club have resigned themselves to the fact that he`s unlikely to sign on.

Should never of sold him but he saw his future lay in Spurs reserves so what could we do, I never like to see us go back for old players, if they wanted to play for Derby and were that good then they would never of been sold.
