Being a celeb gives you special status no doubt.
Might sound harsh but when a celebrity suffers a loss of a loved one, a big thing is made of it, often followed up by selling their story. Of course i dont intend to belittle their loss but we all go through personal tragedies and loss of loved ones, often with barely a couple of days off work to get over it.
Its almost like being a celebrity means their loss is greater than the rest of us.

Agree, there is already a requirement of employers to ensure their staff have the Flu jab working in that sector, its no different really.

I've absolutely no idea!  That sounds rather technical to me!  ?
I was probably exaggerating the situation anyway, to be honest.  Just to make my life appear so much more adventurous and intrepid.  We're heading for a campsite within touching distance of civilisation, albeit up in the "Mountains"!  I'm sure I'll be ok, but I do appreciate your concern!  ? ?

Because no one actually wants to censor discussion. I'd bet that the people whinging about this would rather that no topics were out of bounds on this forum. The point is only being raised to highlight the hypocrisy of the situation. I can absolutely guarantee that if the right leaning members started to wander into more political posts your mod inbox would fill up very, very quickly.

From the Beeb 5 days ago (have left the last sentence in but I don't see where their logic for the final statement comes from, as even more people get vaccinated).
"There are just under 1,000 people with coronavirus in hospitals in the UK, up about 5% from a low point a week ago.
That's far below the peak of nearly 40,000 people in January. And NHS Providers say the people who are going in aren't as seriously ill as they were in early waves. They are younger, or don't require intensive care as much - and they're coming out sooner.
That means this wave is different, and better, than previous ones but eventually rising admissions will mount up."

Difficult to gauge how people feel, i was all for opening but happy to wait if it means there will be less likely a chance of re-instating restrictions.
All my work colleagues I have spoken to today seem to feel the same, that we have waited this long, we may as well wait another 4 weeks.
How much longer we are happy to wait of course remains to be seen should there be a further extension in 4 weeks.

@David made a pretty strong post on page one of this thread and the majority have been very careful, other than to occasionally criticise covid policies etc, to avoid bringing politics back into the thread.
I personally feel that in recent times especially, political opinions have been creeping back into this thread and whilst I don't personally agree with a lot of what this Government has been doing it is hard to lay all of the blame at their feet when the opposition have done an excellent job of alienating their base and empowering the Tories - but to discuss this would lead to posts being removed and as has been happening, a one-sided narrative starting to emerge.
Ultimately, this thread should be about covid.  With the vaccination program we're rapidly reaching (if not already reached) herd immunity and on the verge (give or take a few weeks) of returning to normal.  We should be celebrating the successes or discussing variants etc, anything else, I thought, was a banned topic of conversation - especially when, as discussed, actually having a conversation would result in posts being removed anyway.

Its a tough one isnt it, is a bit all over the place for the second round, some group winners play best 3rd place, in our group win or come second we play runners up which is a bit odd, normally if you finish second you would expect to be up against the winner of a group.
Guess its to make it work for the extra round we are getting this time.
I suppose if you plan on winning it you should be confident of beating anyone anyway, but if we beat scotland friday and have a top two spot secured, knowing you could then lose the last game and finish 2nd you would be tempted to field your weakest team.

I would reply on Starmer’s achievements since leading the opposition, but I think you might (once again) have slipped into political posturing my friend and I must not go the same way. I have nothing to say, not actually unlike Starmer.

Of course yes. I guess its personal experience.
I do wonder if lockdown gave some an excuse to 'down tools' as it were, i am positive thats one of the reasons our EFL situation has taken so long.
I see that more as a culture thing within a business or organisation than individuals.
Of course you are going to get some that abuse the position too, but i am confident those within my immediate team at work have not, and i dont think in general people have where i work.
My main concern with home working is the more inexperienced staff who i feel do need more face to face guidance, and i fully expect that will be reflected in the amount of time they have to spend in the office environment, of course that will mean their managers also doing similar.
There are just some things that are harder remote than in the office, for example as part of my job i sometimes have to 'shadow' staff, that means observing them, watching how they work and what they do, not to catch them out or anything but to identify process improvements, and thats hard remotely, i have been using teams for it but you dont see everything else that goes on like the note making, and manual excercises which arent evident on a screen sharing session. So ill be using my time back in the office to do that too.

Or the fact he was under investigation for match fixing. Ok hes been found not guilty but surely should have been told he would have to wait until the charge was dropped or he was found not guilty.
