It maybe a bit harsh, but I get sick and tired of reading posts criticising our fans and asking for arrests or bans from people who have either never done anything wrong or are hypocrites.
I often read or hear people going on about the lack of atmosphere or comparing it to the intimidating atmosphere at the Baseball Ground,  yet they expect the people creating that atmosphere to be choirboys and not the lads who have been in the pub for a few hours who are the ones who really get the singing going.
I'm in D block and have dodged broken seats and bottles and am in no way calling for a return to the old days and have no problem with people being punished for breaking and throwing seats,  but it seems like we have some oversensitive souls who want people banned for bad language and not behaving in a proper manner.

Yeah let's turn all the ground into one massive west stand.
I'm hardly a young pup, but still enjoy a bit of back and forth with opposition fans and sometimes have to remind myself that I'm 60 with aches in places that I never used to have.
But compared to the stuff we used to get up to,  the fans you want banning are angels and are just blowing off a bit of steam. Maybe they should all stay at home and play on their X boxes and leave the football to the flask and blanket brigade!

Let’s stop this bullying of B4 please.
No need , I am sure you are aware that he has difficulties. However he is an enthusiastic Rams fan and a valued member of this board and I think your snide comments go too far

I couldn't get to the game or even listen as I was travelling back from Cornwall. I can't comment on the game, but the result is excellent - I'm truly amazed that any Rams fan isn't feeling delighted with how the season has started.
We're through to the second round of the League Cup and sitting 7th in the league. This is with a scratch squad, pulled together on a shoestring by a rookie manager.
Given that we were close to losing our club a few weeks ago, this is dreamland for me. Our players haven’t yet gelled and they are still not fit. The players will get better. Rosenior is on a learning curve and his inevitable early mistakes are likely to get fewer as the season progresses.
We're doing well and very likely to do even better. We all need a little early patience...but the signs so far are very encouraging.

Yes, as a 7 year old - I stood very near the front of the Normanton End with my dad - I also still have the programme.

We simply have to be allowed to be coarse, vulgar and borderline inappropriate. Letting off steam in a controlled environment is better than war and something that is psychologically valuable for many of us. BUT as @Mucker1884says, there are lines that should never be crossed and don’t need to be crossed when all we need is a little uninhibited venting.
Fireworks, racism, crude violence / vandalism, allusions to sexual abuse cross those lines. it just needs intelligence and good policing .. and we are part of the policing. For me the most important thing is that the everyday fan has the courage to know their own lines, voice them regularly so that the ugly ones (who will always be there) have to “hide” it’s societal pressure and it works. At the same time we mustn’t become pursed lipped moralists waiting to point a finger at anyone who doesn’t precisely follow edicts and doctrines

I remember my uncle giving me the money to get 2 tickets because he was at work and I was off school with the summer holidays. I got up at 4a.m. to walk from Chaddesden to the Baseball ground to purchase the tickets. Got stopped on Nottingham Road by a passing police car, the officer asking what I was doing all alone so early in the morning. After explaining, he said jump in the car and gave me a lift to the ground. Got there to find some fans had camped out at the ground waiting for the ticket office to open.

Love the analysis at the end of this - Derek Dougan, Jimmy Hill, Malcolm Allison and all. Some great shirt and tie combinations as well.

8 Year old me yes. i can remember it being a really hot day, in fact my old man took me to all three games including the one at Fulham the Saturday before.
The United game was special with us pulverising the side that two years earlier had romped away with the European Cup.
On the pitch for United was the holy trinity of Best, Charlton and Law., we made them look like selling platers that day.
A day i will cherish forever, the competition didn't mean much but the performance and the symbolism of the victory meant everything.

Yeah, also are we really saying we wouldn’t have included a gloating, anti-Leicester song if we’d won?
Some fans need a reality check.
Leicester have bragging rights for sure but these things go in cycles.
    Patience needed, not outrage.

    Some issues to work on:
    1. Midfield
Unbalanced. Knight is too good to waste at FB: we need his energy at right midfield.
    2. Chester
Im not seeing a solid CH; I’m seeing a laboured pace with positional questions.

    3. Energy
We need more in midfield. Maybe sore legs from intensive training but not enough today.

    4. Against Hertha I saw a clear shape & method; today that was absent. Good up front but poor linkage between defence and midfield. Both wingers off it today. Some glimpses of knitted-passes at speed but sometimes so hesitant play.
    5. I was coached never to play a risky pass in defence: today I saw umpteen. It’s just plain wrong and will cost us goals this season. Just stop it.

    6. No real links to Collins. Our goal was a peach but our usual out ball was speculative & often just lost possession.
The real test of LR is if he fixes these ^ problems or if they persist.

    Plenty of work to do.

Most important part of that statement is -
“As with every aspect of the club, David Clowes and his team are taking their time to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the football side, and to consider all structural options”
to me that reads, we don’t want to commit to giving an untested manager a 2 year contract etc when finances are the most critical they’ve ever been. If he smashes it, we’ll reconsider, if he falters then we may look to bring in a DOF / someone more experienced to help him out or just replace him. I.e continually review the structure to ensure optimal results.
I think it’s very clever and sensible

The club used to get hammered for making the wrong decisions - now they're taking the time to try and make the right decision, they are still getting hammered.
I think they are right to see how it goes - he's never managed before and this could go wrong with a guy on a 2/3 year contract.

Old Sawley Popside reacted to BramcoteRam84 in New manager, who do you want?
Been listening to Radio Derby and all the chat from Ed Dawes and fans ringing about clear the decks, experienced manager etc etc - NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! If we want to end up like Forest were, like Sunderland like Ipswich stranded down here for years then taking this approach will lead directly to that. You would be bringing in a manager, with an ego with a set way of doing things, will sign experienced names who all don’t get the club!!
Look at the clubs promoted this season or competing. Leam Richardson at Wigan, Liam Manning at MK Dons, the impact Kieran McKenna has had at Ipswich going in after the Paul Cook clusterfuck! Darren Moore, Ryan Lowe previously at Plymouth, Ian Evatt was inexperienced doing a great job at Bolton. We need someone dynamic who gets the club and can inspire the players and build on the feel good factor of last season.
Step forward Liam Rosenior. He’s the only man for the job IMO.

If Wayne Rooney didn't fancy starting another season with no money, no players, no owner, who can blame him? I admire absolutely everything he has done for our club and we'll be a poorer place without his presence.  Hope he acheives great things wherever he goes next.

With Rooney going, as much as no one will like to admit this, the last shred of Mel’s legacy or footprint on Derby County will be gone. Its
It’s pretty much Bielik left who now has no reason to stay either unfortunately.
It’s rough, but it probably needs to happen for everything to move on.

    Amazing.
Rooney said earlier that he'd never witnessed a scene where the relegated team had got such a brilliant response from the fans only then to have a group waiting back at Moor Farm to applaud them.
Kudos to all who were there and great for all the staff and players to come out and meet them.
Rooney is class. Total respect for a real football man.

was hit on the head by an object thrown by the Coventry fans yesterday , luckily no treatment needed, stewards not interested , left the ground after the match , Coventry fans everywhere looking for trouble , myself and my mates grew up in the eighties so yesterday was nothing compared to then , but the half dozen Cov fans who decided they were tough enough to try it on with us and spitting and kicking their chosen attack method were quicklly despatched by us with the minimum of fuss , no i am not proud of it but neither can we stand back and be spat on . and in relation to earlier posts we dont wear Stone Island

Well played Derby - good performance that against a decent opponent.
Nice mix of game management tonight. First 25 mins played some great stuff, pinging the ball around & they struggled to squeeze the space - Forsyth particularly prominent & fitting that he got the goal. Thereafter Reading had a good spell as they did for 15 mins around the hour mark but we dug in, were well organised & defended well. Really pleased for Allsop too - couple of shaky performances in the League Cup but he was excellent tonight. Two fantastic saves (one in each half), some routine saves & good with the ball at his feet also.
Elsewhere, thought Knight right side was a lot better than I thought he'd be - he & Byrne combined well particularly first half & his running into space was a feature of our counter attacks - just disappointed he didn't put Stretton in just before he came off. Shout out for Stearman also who was very solid deputising for Jagielka.
Obviously they had a lot of late pressure but thought we looked reasonably comfortable & wasn't too concerned we'd throw it away. Important psychologically now that we've got back into positive points - if we can follow this up with another victory v Swansea on Saturday (who have just chased Fulham around the park all night) then we can start to think about reeling in Hull. All small steps.
Last word for the fans - magnificent all night & looked like a decent turnout in the end from the tellybox. I had a ticket for tonight but unfortunately tested positive for Covid on Monday so couldn't go - don't think I've ever been as disappointed to miss a match, really wanted to be there to roar on the lads. The team will have fed off that support tonight though & there were plenty of compliments on Sky about the backing we got.
