I like dobbin as I said in my post so please don’t get the wrong idea. I thought the drive for the pen was special. He hit the turbo charge just when he needed to. But tbh if he’d made it past the defender his angle was not the best to capitalise.
the assist for the goal I can hardly remember but I think it was a very modest display of skill. Credit to Sibley for finding that space, it was a simple pass. Messy deflected shot though compared to theirs, it could be their goal of the season
Dobbin made the bye line several times and failed to make a simple cut back to a man in dangerous space. He’s still learning.
I do realise it’s nice for him to be motm. I’m just saying there were probably 4 other more worthy winners

I was surprised how much Shaun Barker on RamsTV was bigging up Sibley and Bird. Sibley played well in parts and Bird had his moments too but overall the two of them were far from exceptional. But listening to Barker you’d think they were off the charts. What’s going on? Does Warne have influence on the pundits ? does Barker think Sibley and Bird have been getting a raw deal on Twitter (and on here)?
And I like Dobbin and think he’s making progress but Hobgoblin motm? Some great dribbling, good use of pace, and high energy, but not great decision making and so not much came of it.
I’ve always though SB talks good sense, albeit from a rams perspective, but just now he seems to be descending into the dark arts of spinning the fans
(don’t like his new wardrobe much either)

kevinhectoring reacted to Anag Ram in Morecambe V Derby County Player Ratings
Wildsmith 6.5
Smith 6
Cashin 6.5
Forsyth 6.0
Roberts 7.0
Mendez-Laing 7.0
Thompson 5.5 (that shot was frankly embarrassing)
Sibley 7
Bird 6
Dobbin 6.5
McGoldrick 5
Osula 5.5 (had his big chance and fluffed it)
Collins 5.5
Some very high scores given so far for a draw against the second worst team in the league prior to yesterday.
Forwards marked down for failing to do what they’re paid for.

Bloody hell, what's happened to Liam Thompson since the new contract? Thought he'd flourish at this level.

I'm afraid my abiding memory of Rooney was him wobbling about absolutely exhausted after 30 mins against Blackburn having just gifted then two goals as he was to tired to clear a ball. Then shouting at everyone else. His fitness level after the summer of 2020 was a disgrace.

Playing one of the weakest sides in the league, our defence looks shaky, our control in midfield has been intermittent oh err another pen

Well if you listen to Shaun Barker he’s playing a blinder (he isn’t yet)

I have said it before and I will say it again, Wildsmith has been one hell of a signing. Massive upgrade on what we had last year.

I suspect it depends what type of game it turns into. If they’re camped on the edge of their box with us trying to break them down for 90 minutes, then Sibley is as good as anyone at pulling a goal out of nowhere. If it turns into a midfield battle, then I’m less convinced. And if we end up dealing with a lot of breakaways, then I’m concerned.

Hope you’re right.
I just hope the attitude is right from kick-off. We got a good win on a day when
a) Bristol Rovers were off colour
and
b) McGoldrick had a blinder
We will need to show the same application as Saturday and hope our makeshift defence holds out.

No, the BBC’s news department job isn’t to hold the government to account (I think that’s what your suggesting). They are not a regulatory body. Their job is to impartially report the news - good, bad or indifferent, regardless of the political persuasion of the party they are reporting on.

Up until Saturday, I didn't see a future for Hourihane under Warne, but full credit to him, he put a great shift in.
Also, Collins, despite being an old un, never stopped running and closing down, showing up the much younger and fresher Osula in the process.

Hourihane didn't really 'run about' on Saturday though, fastest he moved was the tackle he launched into which another ref (especially the ones in this league!) might even have sent him off for.
It's amazing the difference a player getting a spectacularly clinical hat trick from 3 (not even easy) chances can do for the perception of some of your other players.
We jumped on their mistakes whenever we could,.but I don't necessarily think it was the pressing that caused the mistakes in the first place.
We used our experience to control the last half hour, similarly to the Accrington away game, plus a bit of time wasting too, it's not like we all ran strong for 90.minutes.
