The whole thing about us definitely folding at the end of the season is one of the worst takes I’ve seen in a while. If the club is to be liquidated, it would be liquidated tomorrow. The admins won’t keep us open just to finish the season whilst we are losing money, as doing so is simply taking cash out of creditors pockets for no reason, they’ll just liquidate us as soon as there is no chance of saving the club.

As for Bristol, they are in a very similar position to us in 2016. Even the EFL changing the rules mid season likely won’t help them a great deal. It’s funny that they seem to have incredible foresight when it comes to Derby, yet they are slowly spiralling and they haven’t even realised yet! At least we were lied to, their truth lies in the latest set of accounts.

Really disappointed with this one, I know this may be a little controversial, but I’m slightly disappointed in the player as well here.
Now don’t get me wrong, I totally get it, footballs a short career, but Festy knows the score. He knows we won’t receive a penny for developing him, he knows he will be playing for Watford next season, cheating us out of money we desperately need. I don’t see him getting into the Watford squad anyways, especially if they stay up.
It’s not like he’s an ageing journeyman, he would have had a multitude of clubs to choose from in the summer, all of which would have done right by the club and himself. Rooney also mentioned that he hadn’t seemed focused in his last presser, sounds like he’s heads been turned.
Maybe I’m being harsh because I’m upset, but you get my point.
Also, if he goes to Watford they will be firmly up there with Forest and Boro in my hate list. I get that it’s a clever way around the rules, but it’s a minuscule amount of money compared to their vast Premier League riches for a club in desperate need. Shame on them.

I'm with you, I don't blame him for securing his future, however being part of this Watford compensation dodge is very disappointing from Festy too. If Watford want him they should have signed him and paid appropriate compensation.
This swapping of players between clubs owned by the same people shouldn't be allowed. But WE'RE the bad guys of course.
    Duck football.

They stole Dylan Williams off us for £2.50 and a Tesco meal deal didn’t they?
Only fair we return the favour in the summer, how would Mount feel about a season in League 1?

The evidence from his time in / for Poland and his early appearances for us suggested that he was a direct pacy winger though. Mainly when played on the left... which we hardlly ever did.
He can be a Simon Dawkins like player, which is what we sort of turned him into but never actually supported, or he can be a direct winger, which we never used him as once Cocu left.
The idea under Cocu was that we passed the ball around to create some space, even if it was too slow and then used a little bit of pace at the right time to get in behind. In his first season when we finished 10th there was the basis of a good team there, it just didn't have anyone with even a modicum of pace to change things up.
He just ended stuck in the middle, never really put to any real use.
If Chris Martin had stuck around or we'd been able to sign Dursun things could have turned out very differently.

Honestly some of the hysteria on twitter in ridiculous. Q are licensed insolvency professionals, there will be rationale for their approach. This has been a common theme all the way through the process, we blame the admins and then we realise they are simply doing their jobs. The idea that Andrew Hosking is sat in an office somewhere pressing 'hang up' on his phone every time the EFL call is complete nonsense, they are clearly extremely busy with something at the moment.

"In addition, EFL Clubs have agreed that a mandatory requirement for the amortisation of Player Registrations on a straight-line basis should be included."
Isn't the implication of this that straight-line amortisation wasn't a mandatory requirement previously?

In fairness to Boro, I thought they had some serious quality today. Crooks was a player I really hoped we would be in for (back before admin).

With that being said, I do feel that they are in a similar position to us back in 2016/2017. A lot of big wages, big fees (perhaps not as much as we spent nominally, but adjusted for the weak market probably a similar amount). Furthermore, I can’t imagine they generate the sort of revenue we did, they’re not a small club by any means but they are a tier under us (in my opinion anyway).

I’ve always had my suspicions that they’re claim might have been FFP related, they lost eye watering amounts last year and they have spent big this year. I know they have a few assets with serious value, but I’m skeptical of some of the figures being banded around. Spence looks class but 10 million for half a season in the champ? Can’t see it personally, especially with the market still in a bit of a lull.

Maybe I’m wrong and they’ll come up smelling of roses, but somehow I think karma might be making its way to Teeside in the near future.
