I didn’t suggest he doesn’t care about football. I think he cares about money more than football though.
He’s a ruthless businessman Roy, and I don’t say that to be derogatory towards him. Very, very, able at what he does. Really not my cup of tea, but in terms of accumulating wealth the boy has done well.
If he can get the stadium for £25m he has also done well. I am sure for a few seasons he can run the club quite sustainably and get us back to the Championship, even in a relatively empty stadium (your words). I think after a few months of upset, things would soon settle down, and as the new team gains momentum the club would see 20k plus crowds again - even in L2. He wants the stadium not just because it’s bricks and mortar. He also knows he can pretty much rely on a high hardcore customer base. With no debt/liabilities he could with a careful purchase of players run the club at close to break even for a couple of seasons, and still not blunt promotion opportunities. In 3 seasons time it could easily look a very astute acquisition. He won’t be put off by that kind of timescale, even if very few of our fans like the idea of lower league fare for a while.

To be honest, I'm passed the point of re-visiting what the EFL did or didn't do - I have my views, I've voiced them on here.  We just need to move on and hope that going forward CK (assuming and hoping the deal goes through) establishes a good relationship with them. And if the structure changes, with an independent regulator coming in then we abide by whatever rules that results in. The fact is we simply must never have a repeat of this.
As for money owed here, money owed there, again, I'm now at the point I don't care.  Pretty sure too that CK, MM, the EFL and Q have all thrashed out the details down to the penny, and we're of course not privy to those conversations.  For me, why should I stress about things completely out of my control.  All I want is for the deal to be done, the club to exist and for us to move on. If, by the time I have my planned BBQ at the weekend, it is done, then I may upgrade my rump steak to a sirloin....heck I may even go T-Bone or Fillet.

I didn’t mention him leave alone defend him.  Why is pointing out the Efl multiple failings seen as a defence of Mel Morris?
Morris has taken us into administration. He either spent more money than he can afford , or he is not willing to pay for debts he has a moral responsibility for. There is no defence for Morris either way.

But after PPS is sold we will have no further dealings with Mm. unfortunately we still have to deal with the Efl . Until there is massive reform , including an independent regulator the problems that Derby have suffered will only be repeated at other clubs.

derby8 reacted to Mostyn6 in Car insurance claims.
in 2012 a bloke drove across the front of me, from the left on a roundabout (Normanton island to Manor Road), I was going straight over, he tried to go right. A copper witnessed this. The bloke asked to pay privately and avoid insurance. The copper asked me if I wanted to prosecute for "Driving without Due care and attention". I argued that if he's broke the law, it shouldn't be my decision!
Anyway, the damage to me car was new bonnet, wing, bumper, and light and paint match, about £1300. So the bloke couldn't pay. It went through insurance. The two insurances companies agued. The copper went AWOL. My insurance came up for renewal, and cos I had an open claim, my insurance jumped from £400 to £1900 to renew, so I had to change insurers!
Skip forward 3 years, and the exact same thing happens again! On a roundabout in Coventry, an old boy went right as I was going forward and side-swiped me!
My next renewal, I couldn't get many quotes, it transpired after some ringing around, that in the database the insurance companies use, the first accident was entered as my fault. I obviously kicked off and demanded an investigation! They came back eventually and said they'd corrected it, and they were sorry, however from 2013 to 2016, I'd been paying a bigger premium than I should have!

The speculation was if derby county is bought out of liquidationn the EFL *might* allow an entry to league 2. I don't think that's confirmed, and others are very insistent that we'd be starting a few tiers lower than that.
I'd guess L2 might be negotiated if it's Mike Ashley and it's very quickly done in a looks like DCFC, quacks like DCFC kind of way and the ground is sorted. I'd still feel sick though.

Someone looking long-term might - suspect MA would take that as a possibility if it meant he could save £10-15M on the initial purchase price….. and while Rooney is a huge asset currently (and I have huge respect for the way he’s handled himself and the job he’s doing), I’m sad to say he’s also relatively expensive and is not irreplaceable - there are other managers out there who could rebuild us….

A quick leaf through the pages tells me I should not engage with this…because I’m just seeing folks making wild statements. And bring a bit emotional with the follow ups. So I will regret wading in…especially since I may not respond for a bit- sorry ?

However the thing that seems to stand out is an assumption that there are magical better offers out in the wild that are being cruelly held back from some incompetent force. Madness.

The truth of the matter(as I see it) is boring AF. This deal sucks. Mel has complicated the math by how he structured the loans/stadium purchase.
Any potential buyer looks at this as a crap deal. All parties currently at the table or hovering have the means to complete the deal. But obviously will continue to push for best terms.

We will find out soon enough who wants to give in and pay over what this Club is currently worth.
The only person who has satisfied the process thus far is CK. If anyone else wants to do better- then they need to voice that.

If Ashley wants to put a bug in the ear of Q and say he wants to put forth a better deal…he would have done that. Exclusivity does not stop him from making his intentions clear.
In short: complex business deals that involve history, sentiment, and future value are generally long drawn out and boring minutiae. There are no conspiracies, there are no magical deals.
At some point some one caves on a line item. Then the deal is made. We are very close to that point.

Think MA will end up buying DC.
Will want 100% control so buys club and stadium. Training ground continues to be leased.
Will prob pay enough to avoid points deduction. Not sure about continuing EFL special financial measures over us.
Will want to grow DC and its value with a view to selling on in 5-10 years.

Agree with this ...how is MA getting stick for not paying over the odds for a football club ? I will have a small wager that his valuation is not far off what its worth...something is only worth the value of what someone is willing to pay MA did not rack up this debt and I don't remember him putting St james Park at risk by selling it off or getting loans he could'nt afford against it
CK would be my option but without the ground is a no go and think we are starting to see that is how it is...so MA buying us for whatever  price he pays if he is succesful  is unfortunately what it is worth......
If you had 300k in your account to buy a house and it was only valued at 200k...would you expect to have to pay more just because you have it?
make no bones about it...if MA gets us at the price he thinks is right he WILL not lose money on us and will turn us into an elite club eg prem league at some stage to maximise that.....does anyone think he'd buy us with a view to see us ticking along in league 1?

Sorry to really hammer this home, but...
Ignore any misgivings for MA as an owner for a moment.
    The facts are:
The structure of CK's offer - albeit without the stadium - has been accepted by the admins, and the EFL, and would allow the club to exit administration without incurring the -15(+) points deduction.
With this, you could reasonably say that the CK offer would be the baseline, the cheapest it gets. He's hardly going to pay more than is necessary.
We know that the price for the stadium, unless Mel moves, which seems very unlikely, is £22m.
Given what we know about how MA operates - swoop in at the last possible moment for the cheapest possible price - the thing that puzzles me the most, and thus worries me the most, with MAs 'offer', is he likely to match CK + £22m?
I would say not. So what will budge?

Fair dooos, but in the end they are guessing just like us. What someone thinks on a fan forum is a possible scenario isn’t really a source. Hey, I’m not having a go, but let’s face it no one knows sweet fanny adams. There isn’t a quote from MA’s accountant or PA who’s let something slip. Or some big wig from Brum who’s winked in a funny way, or a leak from the EFL. .. none of that. It’s hopeful gossip, pure and simple
