Just so glad we are nearly there with a decent new owner, no debt and no ‘Wayne Rooneys Derby County’ circus following us. It’s not going to be easy and I’m expecting a difficult season in League One where we probably won’t be up there challenging, but I still cannot wait for the normality of going to the games, speculating over the new kit/new signings  and the joy/despair of results! I bloody love this club - COYR!

Another bit of good news: it’s confirmed that the Clowes bid will avoid any further point deductions.
No news yet on contract extensions, signing players or what needs to be done in that regard.

tbf think it's the Derby County U16 squad rather than the main one, looking carefully at the heading?

Take that with a pinch of salt.  All it would have taken for this to be true is for him to say "I'm going to leave; the admin saying "are you sure"?  Him replying: yes.  Fans wanted him to stay.  This allows everyone a clear ride.
He gets out of the quagmire of L2.  They don't look so bad.  Clowes doesn't need to pull an inevitable trigger.
The admins didn't really have much right following Clowes news to do anything pre Wednesday - it is DC's choice.  This way, Clowes doesn't have to make a very difficult decision.  Rooney would have gone from hero to zero if his >£4m wages meant we didn't have viable team.
It is all right and good saying we need to keep him; but just because we want something doesn't mean we have the resources.

I don't think that is what is going to happen.  His reluctance to own the club, if this is correct, actually is a good thing in a way: he isn't going to go hell for leather - but will be sensible, as this is about his love for the club not wanting to show how amazing and rich he is..

Certain members seem determined to knock spots off each other at every opportunity to no real purpose at all.
Can I suggest you meet up at Clowes stadium at dawn where my wife will present you a vast choice of handbags to pick from. You can swing away to your hearts content.
Avoid the one with blood on the buckle; the result of an ill timed look at a passing pair of hot-pants!

I would much rather a couple of years of sensible consolidation and astute additions than going full tilt at promotion. That said, given there aren’t many teams at this level who really throw money at it and our revenue should certainly be up there, I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive.
I have a huge amount of respect for what Rooney did here but I think being sensible will be much easier without him. The links to Hourihane as an example, no doubt would have been an excellent signing at this level but a 3 year deal for a 31 year old, no doubt paying him the absolute top amount we possibly could just smacks of lessons not being learned.

Jeez it’s astonishing how some people can grasp the point that’s being made re investors!

    1. Clowse buys the ground and the club with his own cash - this saves the club, gets us out of administration and allows us to start trading, signing players, offering contracts etc.
    2. AFTER he’s the new owner, he THEN need more investors to buy some of his shares off him, reduce his financial exposure, and share the losses. This can obviously take weeks, months or longer. But he’s prepared to stand the losses on his own for a period of time. We don’t know how long that period is, but I doubt it would be more than a year. Because although he’s a fan, he’s not stupid.

    My take in Rooney resigning is;
i believe Rooney’s contract of circa £90k a week (£4.68m a year) was being entirely funded through 32Red and that deal ends on 30th June. Even if a new club purchaser wanted to keep Rooney, I doubt very much that the business plan going forward and agreed with the EFL would allow for £4.68m wages to Rooney and if it did allow for its inclusion, it would have to be ‘squared ‘ with the other staff, players wages.
it would be financial suicide to commit potentially 1/3rd of wages. I get to a single manager.
I think Rooney realised that and also due to his he’s been screwed at every point in his short tenure, I doubt very much Rooney wanted to continue with that formula, especially as his ‘potential signings’ would have been facilitated through Stretford et al a nd now he’s not in the equation, those potential signings look dead in the water.
I actually think Rooney has done us a favour by saving the club £4.68m in wages cost, that can now potentially be used to rebuild the squad , presumably under Rosenoir’s leadership ??

    Some thoughts.
Rumour 1: clowes offered to buy the ground so that it would be possible for ck, to buy the club.
    https://washingtonlatest.com/chris-kirchner-moves-step-closer-to-completing-derby-takeover/
Rumour 2: A journalist investigated this by calling the clowes offices, and at that time, clowes denied that this was the case. He might have been unable to do anything else if there was a non disclosure agreement in place.
Thought: As clowes business is a very large business developer, and might own business properties a as part of that. The ground could be considered a business asset.
Thought: Clowes has an estimated net worth of 300 million, if the ground cost 20 to 25 million. Its possible there's difficultly in parting with a further 30 to 40 million to buy the actual ground. That's a decent amount of clowes total net worth, especially since much of clowes total net worth could potentially be tied up in business assets. That's unlike MA who it's rumoured has 50 million in a cash deposit available to buy Derby.
Rumour 3: MA offered to partner with ck, to help purchase the club. Ck rejected the offer.
    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/derby-county-takeover-kirchner-ashley-7166395.amp
Thought: it might be possible that ma approached clowes to offer to buy the club, now that clowes owns the ground.

Regarding Rooney’s leaving, I remember when Brian Clough left. I was distraught. Thought we would be relegated, never win anything again. How wrong was I? So Rooney’s gone. Tough. But we’ll have a new manager. Who knows he might be better.

We are also removing the baggage  - millstone - of the 32Red deal for Rooney, which Colin Gibson on Radio Derby labelled as one of the former owner's 'stunts'.
That makes sense and perhaps Clowes also wanted rid of that 'legacy', much less, renew it. We may be seeing some clarity and logic in the way that Clowes wants to rebuild the club on a realistic footing.
We need DC's deal to get over the line, and pronto.

Didn't Clowes first get involved to buy PP for Kirchner to lease/rent off him, so bringing in someone else to help with funding wouldn't be a surprise, if he can find someone he can work with.

Absolutely made up by this news. Clowes Developments have seen the potential in Pride Park with that purchase and i wouldn't be surprised if the Plaza idea comes back in to the reckoning once stability has returned.
What we need now is the players to return on Monday and Rooney to confirm that he is happy with future plans. Then let the fun begin with the free transfers arriving!!
So excited for these next few weeks!!

Owning the stadium puts him in a very strong position to complete a takeover, even the most sceptical among us must be able to see that. It means the MSD loan and Morris’ involvement is finally reduced also, so if Clowes doesn’t take the club on (which seems unlikely given the statement saying they’re launching a bid) it should make facilitating a takeover with another party more straightforward. It’s a good news day folks, we’re a massive step closer to the club being saved! ?

I didn't realise how much this was affecting me. I was convinced I wasn't that bothered. I've lost my grandmother last week and have other issues and thought there were more important things in life.
I'm not too ashamed or masculine to admit that after reading those Clowes press release snippets on Twitter, I realised my eyes had welled-up a little and I have let out a massive sigh. I now want to have a celebratory drink and put this nightmare behind me.
I am however realistic enough to know that the football side could well be a struggle for a few years, and I have no expectations, but to know that my home-city club, a club I followed home and away for most of my adult life, a club that I committed thousands of pounds to over the years, a club that has made me laugh, smile, groan and sob, will continue to exist means a lot to me personally.
    Cheers boys and girls.
