VAR wasn’t up to much either. Took an age to draw the lines with a quill!

derby8 reacted to ramsbottom in Cool the anti-Clowes rhetoric
I still find it hard to fathom that a good number of fans are actively having a pop at our owner. This is a man who did not want to get involved, but simply had to because he knew what the likely alternative was. It also pisses me off that folk think he should sell up at the earliest opportunity because he didn't spunk £3m on a striker in the summer. Only he, along with his accountants, truly know how bad it was when he started his due diligence, so he'll do whatever he can to ensure we don't get in that state again. If we're moaning at anyone, perhaps we should be moaning at the head of recruitment for not finding the wheat amongst the chaff, in the last transfer window.
As for bringing in, and for the time being, sticking with Warne. If you had the choice between a novice manager or someone who has 3 promotions from this division, to get you out of it, who are 99% of people going to choose??

derby8 reacted to RoyMac5 in Thank you Mr Clowes.
"Clowes stepped in after a protracted sale of the Rams to the American businessman Chris Kirchner fell through with a deal wrapped up quickly. "On July 1, 2022, following a very short period of due diligence, the group incorporated a new company to acquire the assets and business of Derby County Football Club from the administrators, Quantuma.
It also acquired the Pride Park Stadium from the former owner in a separate company. "As a major investor and property owner in the East Midlands, the directors considered that the potential liquidation of the local city football club was not in the best interests of the group or those of the city of Derby itself.
The group considered it had a corporate social responsibility to the local economy of Derby and could not stand by and let the football club fail. "The directors consider that this is a medium-term investment to return the football club to stability and add significant value to the initial cost of circa £60m."

Yes, I had thought about this season’s trophy game against Grimsby but forgot to factor it in. Take away the Watney cup add in the test match and the Charity shield and we agree.?

Others 64.
Anglo-Italian Cup 15
Charity Shield 1
European Cup 12
League Trophy 5
Full Members Cup 12
Test Match 1, similar to modern day play-offs, season 1894/95
Texaco Cup 8
UEFA Cup 10
The Watney Cup 3 matches excluded from overall figures in both complete records, Mortimer and Ellis.
Mortimer says the WC is not included as it was played out of season and, in some years, with experimental laws.
I've followed their lead.

Spending must not exceed £8m a season for next 2 years, business plan imposed by efl

efl allow only free agents/loan players cannot pay each more than £12,000 pw including bonuses and national insurance
Around £20m paid back to MSD

derby8 reacted to maxjam in Overview of our transfers
'but many of the signings are likely to be on big wages, and short-team deals of no more than a season or two'
- We we're limited by both how much we could offer and for how long.
'The issue with this is that they have very few players who are their own permanent players with genuine re-sale value on the right side of 30'
- so its a good thing the over 30s are on short contracts then?
'Short-termist signings are not the answer for The Rams. They need to build on their academy’s core foundation'
- again, max contract allowed was 2 years. Our academy was gutted and we almost went out of business. What do they expect, magic?
Bit of a flawed article imo, no real understanding of the desperate situation we were in and the restrictions we remain under.

derby8 reacted to Carl Sagan in Lincoln v Derby (A) Matchday Thread
This now becomes Derby County's 5000th league fixture. At home we've beaten Lincoln all thirteen times we've played them, but away it's W4, D5, L4.
My team would be:
Wildsmith
Oduroh Stearman Cashin Forsyth
Knight Hourihane
Sibley
Mendez-Laing McGoldrick
Collins
When Mendez-Laing is on the right-hand side, Fozzy pushes further forward, and when he switches wings onto the left, Oduroh plays further forward.
Subs: Loach Roberts Rooney Bird Barkhuizen Dobbin Osula
If Smith is fit he's on the bench instead of Rooney.

The whole thing's odd. If the football authorities are worried about disrespect well that may or may not happen anyway when football returns. There would likely be a minutes silence or applause when the games come back.

Always plenty of spaces here £5 no booking, whole of that part of the industrial estate, privately owned land, five minute walk to ground, straight out after the game down to ascot drive island, through Alvaston to A50 or raynesway to A52 then to M1

Makes more sense to promote good sportsmanship and tell fans not to wear team shirts..but red white and blue etc. Have 2 mins applause and play the national anthem.
As for grassroots my amateur team were due to play their first league game. Someone suggested in the WhatsApp group that we contact the team we were playing and say we cant play it as an official match but we could go ahead as a friendly. Their manager said 'good idea' and all 16 players on our team immediately said they would play if allowed. My kid's team's game has been cancelled but they are allowed to 'train' on the pitch if they want.... 16 out of 18 said they will train (2 are out for the day), not one person said it was disrespectful.
FA have massively misjudged this in my opinion. Make all the live games free to air....have massive celebrations and celebrate how great she was. Bizarre decision for me.
