rammieib got a reaction from MickD in Hourihane
He’s the only one who willingly takes the ball of the back four.
He offers more offensively than Thompson or Smith.
Agree our midfield can look weak at times with him in there but he’s still an asset who he himself knows is probably calling in a day at the end of this summer. For that alone, I hope fans give him the respect he deserves for an excellent career.

I was at the game and clearly saw the headbutt.

He wouldn’t be in my team so I agree with everything you say. I wouldn’t be silly enough to play three CB’s in the first place.

I'm not excusing his headbutt but when he was being rugby tackled at every corner and then the red gives the softest foul the other way, I understand why you lose your patience and snap.
Anyway it should force us to go back to a back four where I think we look far better.

I'm glad though that after all 5 subs had been made, he still kept the three centre backs on. Genius tactics against the one striker.

I know we are all feeling down but let’s wait to find out what our expected goals were before we all start panicking.

I'd hope hourihane is the attacking one, great finisher. But yes, he claimed CBT could come straight in and have an impact. So it's odd. Charlton fans said he didn't track back so we surely saw this.

I’d argue he’s not even been given a proper chance yet.
If the argument is he doesn’t track back, I question why we even bought him in the first place and what’s the point of putting him on the bench?
This line up doesn’t shout goals - and goals win games. At least with CBT and NML you in essence give them a free pass to create.
Now our attacking centre mids appears to be Thompson. Jesus.

What was the point in buying CBT if he can’t get in when we only have two other attacking options?
I just can’t get my head around it.

Fair comment though the formation doesn't have to be symmetrical. Sibley or Wilson as a wing back could come inside more leaving CBT wider. We've seen managers rip up the rule book - not that long ago inverted wingers were considered new, now we've had Wilder's overlapping CBs, Stones playing as a 10, Trent playing as a 6 etc. Warne and Barker might devise something to get CBT in his best position and keep his back 3/5 system.
Edit - i dont mean CBT as a wing back - I mean he plays ahead of a wing back who moves inside more leaving the space wide for CBT. Sibs and Wilson both have that ability to pass and move and keep possession to do that.
