Ebou Adams and Cameron Brannagan would be decent! If we can afford them...

Realistically, about 80% of our summer signings will cover only two positions - CM & ST.
I suspect with promotion we make roughly 12-14 signings just looking at the squad, you're potentially looking at:
4 or 5 signings not in these positions - GK (maybe 2 depending on Wildsmith), left back, centre back & wide midfielder.
You're then looking at least 7 potentially up to 9 players who play CM & ST.
If we nail the recruitment in that area then it will make a big difference, not to paraphrase the Roses but until Ebou I was never happy. Bird, gone, Hourihane, retired, Smith & Thompson, out of contract. Ebou, back to Cardiff. Ignoring we had Embleton for this position, albeit not really and Sibley (also out of contract) who hasn't really played here anyway under Warne. There are 5 (7) players who play in this position potentially out the door this summer.
Similarly upfront: Gayle, Waghorn & Collins out of contract. TJJ out of contract, no deal lined up. It leaves Washington who has struggled to hold down a place in League One, blighted by injuries.
The players leaving in those positions, I would argue need to be improved up - particularly upfront. Gayle speed of thought was nice in League One, but he's struggled in the Championship of late. Collins and Waghorn (for me) are done at being impactful players at that level.
The rebuild is huge, but ultimately focused in two key areas that will determine our relative success.

Such a perfect day. Beer from 6.30 in the Neptune, by 10 in a Wetherspoon and then home.  Such a perfect day.  5 hours solid booze, not it's time for a snooze, missed the game.

I expect he will go with the same 11 again.
    I hope he doesn’t.
Why… because we have scorers and decent attacking players who offer more than the players on the pitch. We don’t need to be defensive at home to the bottom of the league.
Take Bradley and Tommo out and put in CBT and Bird.
    4-2-3-1.
He won’t though, we’ll still play five defender and three centre mids.

For those of a nervous disposition regards Saturday………here’s some chill medicine! 👍😁
Review of the match, pinched from the Carlisle forum.
Derby need a point for promotion and this can do funny things to you mentally. However, some pointers which may settle them down somewhat. There is staggering 69 point gap between the sides. They’re +78 ahead of us on goal difference. Home record for Derby, played 22, won 14, drawn 4, lost 4 – scored 39, conceded 18. Two of those home defeats came in August against Wigan and Oxford. They also lost against Peterborough on New Year’s Day and Charlton at the end of February – but since then have won their last five home games.
Last but not least, we have a Derby legend running our team. He has more appearances for the Rams and scored more goals than for any other club. Is he really going to be trying to win this fixture and potentially deny them promotion? Hmm…
Derby’s a decent away day, so those of you lucky enough to be in attendance - please take a second to take it all in, it may be a very long time before we “enjoy” a Saturday afternoon fixture in the sun at ground and club like this again, so make the most of it.

…………..all seems fair comment to me. 👍

The opportunity to win promotion at Pride Park, in front of a sell out crowd, after what the club has essentially gone through the last four years, is something that could create memories that will last a lifetime.
If, and hopefully when it happens, I'll definitely spare a thought for B4 and others who marched through the city to help keep the club alive but sadly won't be here to see this significant step in our rebuilding process.

I do wish he’d do two things:
    1) stop ducking for headers - power through them.
    2) he doesn’t always need to head it as far as he can - with more awareness before the ball reaches him of where team mates are - head it to a player in the same colour shirt!

Seems very strange unless it’s a police decision given that the entrance to that bit of the ground is across one 2 metre wide narrow bridge.

If there is no safety reason then it’s weird, because that’s losing Cambridge maybe 100k of revenue a year. Anyway - we don’t have that problem next season!!!

We could see it filling up from where we were sat - our fans did it perfectly filling out from the middle to both sides without obvious gaps. Also shall we say that with perhaps those that contributed to the local hospitality sector most on the sides with their later arrival, it seemed to help the singing

That's right, they sell less than capacity, let folks sit where they want, then herd the latecomers into the two end blocks of the stands.
So infuriating for @DarkFruitsRam7and others stood outside.
Ironically, the seat spaces are quite generous compared to some grounds we've been to this season.

So what was weird today, I went to back row, directly behind goal (my actual seat was back row, 20 seats along but didn’t try to use it), and the two seats next to me remained empty. It also felt like around us there were a few empty seats as well.
So the mad rush I was expecting pre kick off due to in allocated seating didn’t materialise. It almost felt as if that stand could sit 1800/2000 but they only sell less.
    Really strange, but wasn’t unhappy!

I think new players is a given.
What will need to change and he needs to adapt is a better style of play. We had less possession today than Cambridge, a team which had 36% possession against Bristol Rovers in their previous game.
If we adapt the playing style of this season, even with slightly better players, then we won’t progress and next season will be a struggle.

The reason why it’s more evident with Warne is because he won’t get more out of players. He isn’t a top coach like a Farke or Bielsa.
If our team is bottom three standard, then we will go down with him.
If our team is bottom six standard, then we will finish bottom six with him.
While some managers can get more out of players and have the team achieving more than their actual ability (Neil Warnock as an example), Paul Warne doesn’t fall into that category as shown by his Rotherham spells.
