And this is the problem with signed layers aged 29 to 32. Their career trajectory is downhill.

I have to admit NR you're 100% right, If people can be negative when 2nd from top then maybe around the end of August then 😁

Trust me, if we are around bottom 4 or 5 it will be well before Xmas that the negatives start!

Even if we were to finish 6th from bottom of the Championship , during the season you can have a mini-run of bad results . That is when the “Bottle” of David Clowes will be tested. But yes re-build to start in 3 week.

I can remember being in the South stand on the last game of the season v Reading - only part of the ground where fans waited for the lap of appreciation. No players came out . This time , I know there will be no trophy , but let’s all stay behind for the Lap of honour.

Boro have a proven Championship player on loan . He has scored in the Prem, the right age and could be bought for around £4 mill. Lewis O’brien is perfect for a passing game , and got Huddersfield into the play off final. Perhaps Florists would let him go if they stay up .

If we fail to get promoted...I'd like him gone, If we get promoted he deserves his chance, All embargos lifted and free to use the market, Clowes will have to watch how PW fares in the Championship, If we are stuck around the bottom 4/5 around Xmas then the fans...imo will start with the negatives, If we're mid table around the same time then Clowes might decide to extend his contract.
Whatever the outcome after 27th April there's another re-build on the agenda.

As fondly as I remember some of the days under LP, it must also be remembered that he put the very existence of our club at risk, chasing a dream.
We've had 2 local businessmen pour a lot of money into the club before and us end up on the edge of a cliff. Like you, I'm hoping for 3rd time lucky with David Clowes.

Incredible really, here we are on the cusp of bagging promotion with club record points and still there are "Fans" who are more interested in agitating for a change in manager. I think Lionel had the right idea some years ago telling such people what they could do. Take a trip down the A52 if I recall. Top chap Lionel and we all owe a debt to him. I remember when he appointed Jim Smith and many also moaned.
Fingers crossed for crossing the line and I'm hoping Warne will do a good job developing the squad and establishing us as a middle third upwardly looking championship team next season, which is what he has been given the target to do by the board.
I'm very thankful we have an astute owner, who is putting the club on a stable footing, and not sacking managers all the time.

My main concerns stem from how poor we are at creating goals from open play against bargain basement line-ups, will teams be more open against us in the Champ? Not sure about that. It'll be a full on relegation fight if we don't really invest in the squad.
But tempting fate here, probably go to Cambridge now and not show up. Lose 1 nil.
Warne deserves his chance if he takes us there but I think Clowes should be ready to make a change if it becomes apparent we are miles off it.

Why don’t we go full Ryanair and have pitch side seats at €5 a piece. You bring your own fishing chair and have to perform a dual role as a ball boy.

And we had paid £10 mill for Lawrence & Waghorn who both walked at the end of their contracts . A lesson to be learned there .

I’m still of the opinion that if we appointed a different manager we’d have been promoted last season.

Have we found the reason that David Clowes picked Warne over Rosenior ? To make a profit , running a club . Selling your academy players like Knight and Bird , then bring in freebies . We know we can’t compete with “Parachute Teams” - some getting £55 mill in the first season for getting relegated, but we don’t want to become a yo-yo team .

I'm assuming that you are expecting Clowes to fund this pay off of his employee that will have just met his goal?
Hopefully, Clowes will realise the money will be better spent on funding the squad for next season.

IF he gets us up, Warne's only goal next season is to keep us in the championship. If that takes playing turgid football, but finishing in mid table that's job done in my eyes. Last thing we need IF we go up, us to be looking relegation in the eyes like Wednesday and Plymouth.
