Yep - I'm also starting to like this closing ranks attitude, there are still fans that want to criticise the club at every opportunity, plenty on here but I'm a big fan of cluck the EFL and no-one like us, we don't care. Bring it on, life isn't a popularity contest, and neither is the championship 🙂

What keeps becoming apparent is his absolute dogged determination to get it right. It is deep within his eyes - a hypnotic certainty that whatever is thrown at him will not cause him to waver. The very essence of a winner.

That's a great example of what a self important tit Maguire is. The first part of his comment is a fact based statement, the second is 'clearly' just opinion, for an accountant turned teacher, maybe he should stick to facts? At one point ever has an accountant made decisions based on the 'spirit' of the law? Twonk.

I agree - I would also add that ALL of our media outlets have a western bias so it is interesting to watch a channel like Al Jezeera sometimes to get a different view on things. Likewise Euronews, France 24 for a none British angle....

Agreement has made to keep the Chesterfield festival of cricket going for the next 5 years. Which is good, hopefully they get better weather next year.

Spot on - I've got so much time for Wayne Rooney, he's such a strong bloke. Who knows if he'll make a good manager but if he doesn't it won't be for the lack of hard work or determination. The blokes makes mistakes, dusts himself down and carries on. I admire that immensely.

That's ambition. Nobody knows their limitations until they've pushed them, it's what successful people do

Although I'd consider myself to be in the 'Rooney out' camp, and despite the recent negative publicity involving Rooney, I do have admiration for him on the back of this.
I've said before I have no idea why he's still here. He's clearly being messed around, and his reputation in his first ever managerial role is going to be the frontman for the circus that is going on behind the scenes, and ultimately on the pitch.
Plenty would have walked. I admire him for not doing that. Arguably, we wouldn't be worse off if he goes and Wassall or Walker, or somebody like that comes in. The person that will likely be worse off for staying, is Rooney.
It's either blind loyalty, blind optimism, or some unfound confidence he has in being able to turn this around. If Stearman and Davies have signed, then on paper we shouldn't really expect to get battered in August with the fixtures we've got. Our starting XI is ok. There's no depth, but for this level, the eleven we can put out are an OK team. Nothing more.
He must have confidence that more will come in before the window shuts, he just has to. Otherwise why would he endure a season of this? Whether that's the likes of Jagielka, Aluko, Morrison etc. joining the ranks, or he's calling in favours from Manchester United to chuck us a few players to make a difference, I don't know.
It's all very confusing, he's said he's staying, but I'd love to know the reasons in his head for why he thinks that's the right decision.
