  1. This thread got very silly very quickly.
  2. Totally worth it. Every time they go on sale, I buy a few boxes. They will have them for 3 or 4 weeks, and every visit, I buy a couple more boxes. They will last me until the next time they go on sale. At one time, it was just Fathers' Day, but now it's 3 or 4 times a year they re-stock. The other Belgian beers they have in stock at the moment are pretty good too - Leute Bokbier is a lovely malty brew, and Cuvee Des Trolls is a nice hoppy offering.
  3. My first thought, as a (lapsed) brewer, is that it would 'de-skill' the science of brewing. I mistrust anyone who says "It will make beers consistent..." etc. That's what the large multi-nationals tried in the 1960's and 70's. Their mantra was "Go anywhere in the country and drink a pint that tastes just like you were in your local". They sold 'chemical' beer - witness Whitbread Trophy, Double Diamond, Worthington E etc. They were virtually the same beer. One good thing came out of large brewery standardisation - the rise of CAMRA.
  4. From the inception of the Football League in 1888, there was football on Christmas Day. Teams used to play a 'Christmas Double', i.e. the same team home and away over the Christmas period. The last Football League game played on December 25 was as recent as 1965.
  5. The quality of stitching just isn't what it used to be, is it?
  6. If I dream, I certainly don't remember them. I understand that there are a number of theories as to why we dream, but I'm completely unaware as to whether I do or not.
  7. Certainly that's the way the Sunday Express are leaning (no surprise there). 'Free' speech and the right to demonstrate should be abolished according to their hysterical headline this evening. It's a slippery slope - and they are oiling the runners of the sled.
  8. I think that Poe would be pleased. It's delightfully macabre. Great performance by the cat.
  9. Warne's problem, as I see it, is that his preferred style of football is primarily physical, and in order for that style to be successful, he requires half a dozen brick outhouses in the side. Brick outhouses we don't have.
  10. I see the best cricket team in Europe look like they might beat Bangladesh.
  11. Clocks go back tonight. I'm turning mine back to 1972.
  12. Way to thank the man who single-handedly saved our club. Wouldn't you be happier at the other end of Brian Clough Way?.
  13. Never voted for Kevin Philips Bonggg or Tarquin Fin-tim-lin-bin-whin-bim-lim-bus-stop-F'tang-F'tang-Olé-Biscuitbarrel?
  14. Two things should follow this shoddy, embarrassing showing .... 1. The Hundred should be scrapped forthwith 2. English international T20 and ODI players should, at the very least, play SOME domestic T20 and/or 50-over cricket, otherwise it becomes a closed shop.
  15. I'm really sure which war thread this should reside under, but it's quite apt, I believe...
  16. I was just going to review this - same here. Not watched it for ten years or so. Gripping at times, pretty silly at other times. 6.5 for me.
  17. That's excellent news. He has progressed so much with both bat and ball over the last couple of seasons.
  18. Public Service Announcement: Lidl have the Belgian boxes back in stock from the end of this week - together with a few French Abbey beers which look quite interesting.

    Jordon Ibe

Christ. What an idiot. No, not Ibe.
  20. Dammit. Another match I can't avoid seeing. "Sue, does the lawn want mowing or do you want me to wallpaper the shed?" "No, you go to the match and enjoy yourself." I married a sadist.
