  1. No, that's Plan Q, so named because the defenders queue up to clear the ball without problems.
  2. Made a live human sacrifice in the centre circle, whilst saying 'Jimmy Savile is my hero' and 'I support Forest'. Now anyone can make a mistake - or even two - but supporting Forest is a step too far.
  3. The problem is, we're not in a 'guaranteeing guarantees' position. We are trying to recover from the second-worst position in our club's history (we were once just five minutes away from being would up before Maxwell bailed us out), and sacking the manager is something that David Clowes, because of the huge cost which that would entail, is unlikely to contemplate (last resort notwithstanding).
  4. I tried watching it on an old laptop. Utterly unwatchable - almost continuous buffering.
  5. I told the Memsahib that when I ripped some rogue pansies out that were encroaching upon my Scotch Bonnet / Armageddon / Habanero sanctum. It did not go down well.
  6. Burgers in water. Boiled, for goodness sake. I've just checked t'internets and it's still a thing. Some people love that soggy, deep-boiled finish. Allegedly.
  7. Well, with Saudi Arabia seemingly set to be a shoe-in for the 2034 World Cup, they'll probably finance a ceremonial destruction of a couple of iconic towers as an opening ceremony.
  8. Miss Congeniality I cannot believe that I sat through the whole thing. OK, on reflection I didn't - I spent some time mixing and steaming the Christmas pudding, made a nice potato salad and drank a couple of beers. I did chuckle a couple of times. 4/10.
  9. Probably Noordwijk in the spring - the Memsahib loves Keukenhof. Also, either Brugge or Gent in the summer. Dates to be confirmed when Derbyshire's fixtures come out.
  10. Apparently, we had precisely zero trick-or-treaters this year (the Memsahib was at home whilst I was wallowing in the glory of our victory at PPS). Looks like I'm porking out on Haribos for the next few weeks.
  11. A very decent performance and an enjoyable night. Nothing else to say really.
  12. This thread got very silly very quickly.
  13. Totally worth it. Every time they go on sale, I buy a few boxes. They will have them for 3 or 4 weeks, and every visit, I buy a couple more boxes. They will last me until the next time they go on sale. At one time, it was just Fathers' Day, but now it's 3 or 4 times a year they re-stock. The other Belgian beers they have in stock at the moment are pretty good too - Leute Bokbier is a lovely malty brew, and Cuvee Des Trolls is a nice hoppy offering.
  14. My first thought, as a (lapsed) brewer, is that it would 'de-skill' the science of brewing. I mistrust anyone who says "It will make beers consistent..." etc. That's what the large multi-nationals tried in the 1960's and 70's. Their mantra was "Go anywhere in the country and drink a pint that tastes just like you were in your local". They sold 'chemical' beer - witness Whitbread Trophy, Double Diamond, Worthington E etc. They were virtually the same beer. One good thing came out of large brewery standardisation - the rise of CAMRA.
  15. From the inception of the Football League in 1888, there was football on Christmas Day. Teams used to play a 'Christmas Double', i.e. the same team home and away over the Christmas period. The last Football League game played on December 25 was as recent as 1965.
  16. The quality of stitching just isn't what it used to be, is it?
