  1. Wayno Madsoni's been teaching them how to make pasta.
  2. The Netflix offering (I've only watched 2 episodes so far) is following the structure of the first few chapters reasonably closely although looking at the cast list, I suspect that it will become quite Anglicised in comparison later. I look forward to plenty of nanofibre and quantum entanglement mayhem tomorrow, I guess. The series seems to be just based upon the first novel (scope for subsequent series?) - and it's got a lot to live up to. I honestly cannot think of a better Sci-Fi book I've read in the last 25 years.
  3. Creator too. Made both goals today as Gateshead beat Macclesfield 2-1 to seal a return to Wembley (Gateshead lost last year to Halifax in the final).
  4. Another day sitting at home, drinking. Tomorrow seems to have a dreadful forecast too. Apart from the drinking.
  5. Just finished reading the first volume of the trilogy - no surprise that it won the Hugo award. Spellbinding. I'll start the TV series tonight.
  6. Blimey, what a fall from grace. From being the hero against the Dirties to working in the Wrexham club shop.
  7. It's a lovely beer. I always pick a few up whenever I'm in the House Of Beer in Ashbourne.
  8. I got up at 8:00, made the Memsahib some brekky, started thinking about putting some cricket noms together (ok, putting a few beers in the fridge to cool) and then popped into the garden - at which point I realised that it would be a late start at best. It was like a swamp. We ended up watching a bit of Warwickshire v Worcestershire and then went shopping. Should be a full day's play tomorrow - heavy bails I suspect.
  9. Couldn't find his way off the inner ring road.
  10. Israel seem to be expecting significant reprisals following their (arguable) assassination of a senior Iranian General in the Iranian consulate in Syria, to the point that some consulates/embassies are being evacuated, IDF leave cancelled, reservists being called up, threat levels are elevated to their maximum and GPS signals are now being disrupted over major Israeli cities. The Hosea quote "For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind" seems to sum it all up. Hold on to your hats - it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
  11. New official beer sponsors to be announced - Brouwerij De Halve Maan.
  12. "The Three Body Problem" by Liu Cixin. I thought I'd better get it read (and the rest of the trilogy) before watching the series on Netflix.
  13. From next Thursday, 11 April, Lidl have the Belgian beers in again.
  14. Israel doesn't need to kill Palestinians any more - they just need to kill aid workers and let entropy do the rest. Clever.
  15. I was flying back from Dublin that evening. My wife very kindly recorded the game, and insisted that we watched it when I got home.
  16. Almost 3 weeks in, it's still going strong with a nice spatter cone being assembled. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEMz0hwyfFs
  17. Opinions are important, and it's equally important to be free to express them. My opinion, duly expressed here, is that you are more likely than not to be a Gump on a wind-up. As for the actual content of your posts, I feel that they lack any substance or coherence whatsoever. Your resorting to the use of xG statistics demonstrates nothing, apart from a complete misunderstanding of the subject, which seems to be a common trait in your posts. At least you are consistent - consistently wrong, that is. Please continue posting. You are comedy gold.
  18. I think that the usual suspects are criticising Warne because there's a 'Y' in the day.
  19. If you're a Warne-hater, you could easily be negative about a 5-0 victory.
  20. I've put him on 'ignore' so many times, but I always relent a few months later. It's almost as though I need to read someone else's batshit insanity every now and again to convince me that I'm not losing my own marbles (yet). Now to a (in my opinion) non-controversial point - I would have taken that scoreline before the game. No arguments or recriminations from me about possible offsides or handballs regarding the Pompey goals - that's football, and things, by and large, average out over a season.
  21. It's irrefutable that Israel went so far as actually helping to create Hamas. Recently, articles in Washington Post, New York Times and even Israeli newspapers have suggested that funding and other aid to Hamas went on much longer than the set-up (the aims of which may or may not have been the overthrow and eventual replacement of Fatah and the PLO). Perhaps it was a case of "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer still" - but the bottom line is such that the very existence of Hamas means that there can be no Palestine unless Israel wills it - and therein lies the rub. Very convenient for Netanyahu because the existence of Palestine is an "Over my dead body" issue for him.
  22. I think that Adolf Netanyahu's days are numbered, at least as far as the size of yesterday's protests were concerned. Personally, I'm rooting for an untreatable MRSA infection following his hernia surgery.
