First time I have had this explained, thank you. So do you know the breakdown of the subsequent year over spend? Are we (Mel) saying that DCFC budgeted to be within FFP based on the original submitted accounts and could have altered them if we had chance. That seems a reasonable defence as long as we were within FFP with the old accounts

It was introduced to close the loophole Leicester exploited in 2002 when they went into administration with debts of over 30 million but still managed to gain promotion that same season to the Premiership.
They also shafted lots of local businesses out of money accordingly by doing this.

    Difficult without knowing her interests..
If it's just her on her own, then a nice weekend away somewhere, with the good siblings? Not Grimsby obviously.
If she has a good friend.. How about a show and hotel in London? Bit of shopping etc.
Frying pans always go down well.. As she is 60, maybe an ironing board for a special birthday.
I've just had my 60th a couple weeks ago and presents were not needed. I am lucky to be able to get what I need, when I need. For me, my 60th was about people. We just had a small party with close friends and family. Got the local curry house to cater with various curries and accessories. That was enough for me. I loved it.  It's about memories now.

    Absolutely hate trick or treat.
Nobody understands the principle at all...its basically kids knocking on doors begging for sweets,  mithering people and as they get older being slightly intimidating.  Most anti social pointless activity ever.
Not a fan of Halloween in general but if people want to dress up, bob apple,  have a Spooky party with friends that's their choice....enforcing it on other people and going round to random houses is just bizarre.
Only people so self obsessed with their offspring are actually stupid enough to think anyone else really enjoys going to the shops to buy things and then hang around all night waiting to give them out to ungrateful kids and pretend to be interested in their outfits. My kids are not allowed to go and thankfully they think they are too old now anyway.

When I say no chance, I mean no chance.
I'm lucky to have met someone with the same level of hatred for this anti social time of the year so there will be no arguments there.
Look up anti social behaviour, this is the very definition of it.

What rules did he break? And what rules did he break where  he knew what they were? The IDC said Derby couldn't reasonably have known they were breaking the accounting standard , given that the auditors and the IDC istelf all said it was all OK.

He was hardly the first or the only club owner to do so though - Leicester, QPR, Watford, Middlesbrough, Forest, Wolves all exploited loopholes. Some of them got financial sanctions paid for by their ill-gotten gains, some of them got no punishment. No other club has been pursued as vigorously or at such length as DCFC. Perhaps we're just unfortunate with timing, but I'd love to see them go after the others with such determination.

Hmm, Sleightholme should have known better - he should have done his research before getting involved with those characters as they used him as a respectable front man. I don't know whether he personally profited from involvement, or just took the kudos from being a club chairman. He was not charged, so cannot be seen as personally corrupt.
Andrew Mackenzie introduced them - and took a cut of the illegal funds, which is why he was jailed along with Keith & Mackay. I was in Northampton court to see it... ?

That’s how it should be and probably what is intended; but from the evident attitude of the EFL board I don’t think it is quite the same in practice. If not then how come when DCFC challenge something -  in accordance with that agreed procedure - is the reaction ..   “disappointed” or “with regret” or “shocked” … everything we have done in challenging / appealing is sanctioned by the rules .. surely then board/ruling body should not be commenting in this way .. it should simply be “we accept judgments and actions that have been made/taken according to our procedure.”
An individual on a committee may have a view but the committee when it speaks should be supportive of its own system.

Can promise you it wouldn't, I've been a kid, never interested then either.

Absolutely no chance I would ever in a million years take my kid out knocking on strangers doors for sweets.

A rich individual who used to be involved in a football club could probably find a few good reasons to take the EFL to a real court with a real judge if you know what I mean

I have a totally different experience.

As a manager in the financial services industry and a school governor, I have chaired both disciplinary hearings and appeals. In both environments it would be unthinkable and outrageous for the person appealing to know that a failed appeal could result in an increased punishment.

If I was buying a football club, going to the games is the minimum amount of research I’d be doing. He wanted to get a feel of the club and that’s the only way he can do it.

Would you want a new owner that hasn’t done as much due diligence as possible?

So all we need to find is an English Trappist monk, with no internet access, who happens to be a billionaire and fancies running a football club when he's not ritually self-flagellating or praying.
How hard can it be? ?
