🎵 They them followed the...? Needs a total rewrite. Anyway, I'm going to shut up because while it's light-hearted, someone will feign offence, then a load of people will take offence on behalf of the person feigning offence, then loads more will take offence on behalf of people who aren't offended but who they feel should be, and despite nobody actually being offended that's me cancelled and put in the bin.

I think having different views is quite a leap from calling something crooked, when it isn't.
Unless your brother in law was privvy to the valuations assigned to players and had his own reliable method for proving they were over inflated I really struggle to see how he could come to the conclusion it was crooked and I'd say his opinion was anything other than professional and is more akin to the Kieran Maguire type comments made with no justification.
I'm afraid I just can't agree with you on the last point. We were left bankrupt because our owner refused to continue to financially support us.
With regards to what I said earlier regarding the timescale of us getting in the mess,.with a wage bill of over £40m it would literally only have taken 9 or 10 months to rack up a PAYE debt of £25m. Hence how we went from being in a good position pre Covid to tens of millions in debt when we entered administration in September 2021 (from memory).

    This forum is nuts sometimes.

Slagging off Steve Evans last week for his comments on referees then suggesting Madley might be biased against us.
    I despair.

As VDL's header nestled in the back of the net: "Palace are absolutely aghast, they cannot understand it...and Nigel Martyn knew the dummies in front of him had let him down" is etched on my brain forever, it's my favourite line from commentary of all time.

I think that's great. They're now stuck with a player they have to pay full wages for, won't play, can't move on, and all totally unnecessarily.
It just heaps more financial stress on Chansiri, which is exactly what he deserves.

No, because they've not been promoted.
If they were, the cost of running the Women's arm of the club would increase by around £350,00-£500,000 because of the extra requirements moving from the amateur game (National League North, where they play now) to the Championship, which is semi-pro with some pro teams in there. And the revenue won't necessarily match the outlay.
Even in their current league Newcastle are full time professional, Forest are heading there, Wolves are heading there. They all have stated ambitions to be promoted to the Championship, and in Newcastle's case, the WSL. Not surprisingly, Newcastle are running away with the league and Forest, who won it last year, are second.
There is no rush on Derby's front at the moment to pump money in for this to happen, given the extra financial outlay should they be promoted.

If referees did their jobs, he wouldn't have to. I said to my mate on Saturday that every Stevenage challenge comes with an underhand dig, a shove, an arm-grab or a shirt-tug, all designed to put an opponent off-balance. It's like they'd been coached by Eddie Howe. Being passive in return gets you nothing from the officials in this division.

1Wildsmith 7 - not called into action that much but two bits stand out - a good near post save and a missed punch which rebounded off Nelson's arm and forced Bradley to clear off the line
35Nelson 7 Just goes about his business with the minimum of fuss
5Bradley 8.5 Excellent performance - that's the player we'd hoped we'd signed. Won headers, clearance off the line, good blocks, more mobile, looked more comfortable with the ball at his feet.
6Cashin 7 just went about his job well
24Nyambe 6 Great defensively, most certainly not a wing back
11Smith 7 came on and made a real difference, good to have him back
8Bird 6.5 Quiet first half, came to life after Smith came on and was pushed forward
32Adams 7 Quickly becoming a vital part of the team with his energy and willingness to get stuck in
20Elder 6 Again, good defensively but doesn't have a natural attacking instinct so not a wing back
2Wilson 6 Not sure of his role first half, looked better second when switched to RWB
11Méndez-Laing 6.5 Not a game to remember but set up the winner
7Barkhuizen 6 Not a lot came off for him but can't fault his effort
17Sibley 7 A good game for him to come into, great movement and finish to win the game

It was the same at Exeter away in midweek.
I guess people feel shielded by being in a crowd, but some of the chants and behaviour was just completely unnecessary and I am not sure what people get out of it.
A bit of shock value, a bit of laughter, I guess.
People were more interested in baiting a steward than watching the game. I just don’t get it.

There’s a section of the south stand high up towards the away fans who seem more obsessed singing songs slagging other Derby fans off than they do supporting the team. It’s something that’s emerged this season.
Any slight lull and it’s “silence as usual”, “south stand’s a library’ or yesterday’s joy, “support your team or f-off home”. Been going on a few games now, finally other supporters started giving them some back and then an argument ensued.
So yesterday, as has been the way recently, the atmosphere in that stand hasn’t been good, made worse by some fans doing the old trick of “we’re better fans because we sing more” routine. It’s just arrogant and divisive, and for that matter wrong. Fortunately the team turned up second half just before it started getting ugly.
Then in response to the manager’s excellent subs and shift in players, we got right on top of Stevenage, we played some good football, the supporters responded and the rest has been well covered in this thread regards the atmosphere.

Last week I questioned Warne's substitution of Nyambe, and I'm still not convinced it was the right thing to do. But if you're going to question, you should always praise as well when it goes well.
Yesterday, his substitutions and personnel switches were bang on and went a long way to helping us win the game. Releasing Bird higher up, bringing on Smith who can pass, putting NML wider and having Sibley in and around the area, all great tactical switches. Great job!

Yep I’m with you on last weeks subs but for me they won’t always work and sometimes they go wrong , that’s the same for every manager , the trick is getting them to go right more than they go wrong , 2 nd in the table suggest s to me we are getting more right than wrong in that area and other areas 👍
