Our budget won’t be as small Rotherham though. I imagine we will have a bigger budget than a few teams. They didn’t.
And generally the budget dictates League position, not the coach. I expect we’ll be lower mid table first season but people on here will be raging about it and want Warne gone.
We’ve actually got to get to the champ first though!

A question at the fans forum was raised, asking Buxton and Hale if they think the U18/21 players ahold have been given more of an opportunity this season. The response being "they haven't done enough to convince Warne". They also stated Thomspon not being a top performer in the U21s, but stepping up seamlessly under Rooney.
None have played more than Robinson, who has only got 90 minutes vs a Wolves U21 side and hasn't played in any other game. The only player to feature in the League (Brown) has only got 13 minutes, I would be extremely surprised to see someone getting a chance this season.
Take that Wolves U21 game away, then you really see how willing Warne is to using them: Brown (30 mins), Radcliffe (11 mins) Weston (6 mins) and Fapetu (2 mins). It's pathetic.
They could have had a meaningful amount of minutes earlier in the season, even against the likes of Crewe or Bradford in Cup competitions, or when 2 goals up against Carlisle, Leyton Orient, and Bristol Rovers. If they were, we'd now have a better idea of whether they could step in for a couple of games. Even if they weren't ready, using them in more games would have helped keep our older players fresher, and potentially injury free.

It wasn't only Warne who thought he'd be a great signing

This is very unfair. Relative to the Champ, Rotherham had a tiny budget so would always struggle. When he joined us he actually had them too 6 in October

Lol yeah the famous Rotherham promotions squad, full of quality players we could only dream of. They are like the new class of 92, the household names just roll off the tongue.

I'd like to keep all of Fozzy, Smith, Barkhuizen & Collins as squad options even in the Championship.
It's important to maintain some degree of continuity given the togetherness that's obviously been fostered within the squad.

Two points: sign joe Taylor if we go up (or Haaland I guess) and buzzing for Whittaker

It does look like it clipped to edge of his toe. I'm not sure how dubious goals are awarded if the player who got the last touch was offside though

This is an excellent point… makes you think how much more league managers should probably trust youth
I even managed to dredge Kornell McDonald from my mind who’s now playing National League at 22. He didnt look out of place in the Championship if memory serves. There were loads who made their debuts during admin and I can’t think of one who was even remotely awful

You're right, but they weren't playing in a team that were expected by the fanbase to challenge for promotion. Mistakes were forgiven (largely) and the fanbase didn't storm out in large numbers when the team went 2-1 down at home.
Port Vale had a 16 year old playing LB. I wonder what having their fans chanting "you're not fit to wear the shirt" at the team did for his development? Possibly character forming but only if you're a mentally strong person I would have thought.
Trusting youth is laudable and can bring great benefits provided the fans and the owner are chilled about results.

Can’t believe the negativity on this thread again. It’s really crazy if you ask me
Did everyone think we were going to win every game or play fantastic football in every game? I just don’t understand the levels of expectation

    Big, powerful and pacey.
Hopefully this loan will do his development the world of good and he’ll be around the squad next year.
    I love a homegrown player
