When the football card designers didnt have a transferred player in their new colours , they used to draw the new colours on . There are loads of examples from a few years collections in the seventees . All of them are laughable .

bucktwo reacted to Addingham Ram in Elliot Embleton - signed on a season-long-loan - cancelled
This just makes a mockery of the whole loan system.
Parent clubs (usually a bigger / more successful clubs) hoover up more talent than they are ever going to need / use.
They then loan out players for fees on watertight contracts meaning they don't pay for those loaned out players during their development, or when they are injured.
Some of them will then be sold on based on how they perform during a loan spell, some will be simply discarded, and the lucky few will be given an opportunity at their patent club.
The whole thing stinks.
What makes it even worse is clubs are encouraged to sell players they have brought through their academies because it is good for their FFP.
Perhaps there should be some kind of cap on the number of players any club can have in their academies, or are able to loan out.
It's only going to get worse unless the powers that be change the rules. But why would they?

I've met Gary and his family many times through work and he's genuinely a nice bloke no ego at all, really nice family too. Still can't knock him, any of us would leave our jobs if the financial rewards were that great.

I posted this bucktwo on 8th Oct and still stand by this post:
Is Warne looking to go into the DCFC history books by taking us to Wembley twice in one season? The Pizza cup looks high on his agenda this year and the League one automatics are slipping away week by week. Maybe he can sneak us into the top 6 by the end of the year and by that time have sussed out his strongest 11 and best system and formation to play? So who knows could it be on!

bucktwo reacted to Inverurie Ram in How Paul Warne survives!
Why do “supporters” of Derby County make detrimental stuff up? why do they swear on National TV having a go at the current head coach? why do they swear at their current players?
What do they think this achieves? does it make them feel any better as a person? does it help their fellow supporters out? does it help the head coach, does it help the players, does it help promote or demote the reputation of Derby County Supporters around the world of football, and does it help Derby County Football Club?
When we rallied together to save our club, was this the objective a few months later, to try to drag it back into the mud? or would we all be better off helping each other build Derby County back up to its full strength by supporting the club?
Anyway I’m off back to work to look for mole holes then dig another grave in the pouring rain in the deep mud before attending another strangers funeral where I nod my head down in respect to a mourning family, only hoping the person passing, has had a happy life and respected everything and everyone, whilst being alive, especially those that they love.
Up David Clowes
Up Paul Warne
Up Derby County Football Club

The Pogues
If I should fall from grace with God
Where no doctor can relieve me
If I'm buried in the sod
But the angels won't receive me
… Let me go, boys, let me go, boys
Let me go down in the mud, where the rivers all run dry
… This land was always ours
It was the proud land of our fathers
It belongs to us and them
Not to any of the others
… Let them go, boys, let them go, boys
Let them go down in the mud, where the rivers all run dry
… Bury me at sea
Where no murdered ghost can haunt me
If I rock upon the waves
And no corpse can lie upon me
… Let me go, boys, let me go, boys
Let me go down in the mud, where the rivers all run dry
… If I should fall from grace with God
Where no doctor can relieve me
If I'm buried in the sand
But the angels won't receive me
… Let me go, boys, let me go, boys
Let me go down in the mud, where the rivers all run dry

Having good character, living the right way , being settled at home ...
That's why Brian and Pete spent so much time checking potential signings out .... the core of the team .
Then the odd maveric or perceived bad boy can be integrated where needed .

bucktwo reacted to ilkleyram in Will Derby County get back in Premiership
No reason in principle why not but a lot of things have to go right at the same time from player to manager (and that is NOT a comment about our current manager). And above all we would have to have a lot of luck going our way on everything from referees decisions to academy fruitfulness.
If there’s anything I worry about about David Clowes’ ownership is his relative wealth. He’s clearly a rich man by any stretch of imagination. Good for him. But he isn’t football rich it seems to me even at championship level never mind PL level. When you have clubs effectively owned by countries rather than individuals then having a couple of hundred million isn’t enough, especially if you then want your club/business to be self sustainable.
There are reasons why very few (can’t name any but I presume there are some) football clubs are actually self sustainable and genuinely have income greater than expenditure. I doubt any in the PL actually are, nor the championship for that matter and so for us to get there requires someone to spend/gamble enough to make it possible or take a long time (and have a lot of patience). We’re not a club with a lot of patience from top to bottom as these pages often demonstrate.
I don’t know how many years of watching live football I have left. I’ve done 60 or so. David Clowes’ relative financial weakness is a huge problem for football as a whole and is the result of FFP and TV plus feeble football administration. I live in hope that we will gain two promotions in the next 10 years or so and that I see it, but I’m not expecting it. We certainly can’t win anything in the top league any more other than individual matches. I am just glad that I have lived through the golden age of football when football life was simpler, fairer and better. And we were good.

bucktwo reacted to duncanjwitham in Sonny Bradley
Pretty much all of the mistakes he’s made have been the same type of situations - him trying to control and pass the ball while unopposed attackers close him down. He’s very clearly not comfortable with the ball at his feet under pressure. You can argue whether he should be good at that, but he’s a League One defender - he’s probably going to be rubbish at something or other, or not great at a whole bunch of stuff, otherwise he’d be playing at a higher level.
The point with systems is, the spread back 3 that Warne plays, combined with the midfield that go box-to-box all the time, means that we’re basically engineering the situations that Bradley struggles with the most. He’s going to end up with the ball at his feet, no other defenders within 20 yards and no midfield cover, a whole lot of times in every single game. If we played a compact defence, or had someone sitting protecting him, it would happen a lot less often. And the more often he ends up in those situations, the more likely he is to screw one of them up in a given match.
