Yeah, three of us will be there tickets or not, on the waiting list at Derby and for hospitality at Cambridge - sadly not expecting to hear from either so think we'll be in a pub watching it on an iPad as no luck getting tickets in with the Cambridge fans either 🙁

There’s nothing to be fearful about in the Championship and I can’t believe this narrative is already being pushed.
The jump in quality really isn’t that significant, outside of the usual teams we see every year that are leaning on parachute payments to keep their squads together. Even then these teams are nothing close to infallible, especially in one off games.
A third of promoted teams from League 1 in the past five years have not only gone up and consolidated their position but they have competed at the right end of the Championship table, in some cases getting promoted or mightily close.
The teams that usually go up and find their way back to League 1 are the ones without the resources or infrastructure to hold their own.
We are only going to end up like Rotherham, Wycombe, Barnsley, Blackpool, Peterborough and others if we show a serious lack of ambition financially or there is a lack of synergy and effective strategy behind the scenes.
If Clowes, Pearce, Thomas, Hale and Warne are all working well and pulling in the same direction, why is it beyond us to build a competitive squad for the Championship, one that could finish 15-18th in year one, for instance?
No-one stands still and neither will we. Everyone resets. Teams get better. Teams get worse. Managers change. Managers improve. Managers decline.
There are so many variables at play, why would we be fearful now when we can work towards a stronger position over the summer? Such needless negativity when nothing is set in stone.

Unfortunately some people are too entrenched in their own opinions to worry about the bigger picture.
Think they would have preferred Bradley scoring an own goal today rather than the 2 goals he scored.

Pompey fan here, back for a brief visit.. Well done today, a convincing win for you.
Hopefully our draw at Bolton did you a massive favour.
Good luck lads, see you all at fratton next season

Well done on your win and putting things back in your own hands.  I thought we were fortunate at times today, for some reason our early goal seemed to send us in to our shell; Bolton have some decent footballers, who exploited that for the rest of the first half and we were lucky not to go in behind.  Second half a bit more even.
All the best for the run in - as I've said elsewhere I'm hoping we'll both end up in the automatic slots now; but I do think you're probably at the stage where you can't afford any slip ups in the last couple of games.
I've just poured a large glass of red. Enjoy your evenings, Rams.

I’m looking forward to all the  tactical geniuses who called this a sackable formation and no chance of any goals, coming on here and admitting that they got it wrong.

Think Portsmouth and Derby going up is the best result judging the season as a whole. Both too big for this league anymore. Hopefully the draw we gave Bolton today (tbh they could be right to feel bad not to take all three points) will be enough to get you guys over the line.

Good result for you guys. Hopefully see you in the championship next season.

Thing is you wouldn't know this from inside the stadium. We are getting exceptionally good crowds week in week out and the atmosphere is good for the most part. There is no animosity towards the manager at the games, you only hear it on here when we drop points.

I always try to strip away the dressing and focus on what I see. Had we taken any of the 3 or 4 gilt edged opportunities we carved out in the first 40, I think conversations on here would be rather different. As someone else said, fine margins. The second half I thought saw an emboldened Wycombe and I don't think that would have been the case were they 2 or 3 down. Likewise, when NML blasts the ball over the sticks, or CBT fumbles a sitter, can we seriously suggest that these are tactical or coaching deficiencies. With the amount of experienced players we had on the park, calmer heads should have prevailed IMO, though none of this negates the view that at times, PW has clearly got it wrong.
I've not reiterated my sense of it recently, as a pet hate of mine is posters who relentlessly post the same material, but whilst I support Warne currently (likewise the playing roster), I opposed his appointment and can also see how we'd likely need a very different formula to prosper were we to secure promotion. I have enjoyed some performances, Pompey only a game back, I thought was a fantastic game between two sides playing good attacking football, despite the atrocious conditions, but I'm not blind to the occasions where we've looked all over the place either. My view though, is that we are just a L1 side after all, despite being 'massive' and perhaps these inconsistencies come with the territory.

This doesn't really make sense. A team can't achieve consistent success over the course of a 46 game season by going against the tactics implemented by the manager. So any success achieved by the team as a whole, by proxy, also includes the manager.
Valid criticism of Warne is perfectly fine, but stuff like this I find baffling. You can't just overlook or dismiss the part Warne's played in our success, whilst simultaneously attributing most of our failings on him. Credit has to go both ways.

What did you want him to say? “We didn’t get in the play offs but that’s OK, we’ll go again next year”?
There aren’t many industries that are cut throat enough (and football is one of the most cut throat) to see an individual sacked for achieving an improvement (in terms of results) in year 2 from year 1 but still narrowly failing to hit a key objective. I know some people will point to what happened to Darren Moore and John Eustace but I don’t think many of us would entirely agree with their sackings.
With 11 games remaining we were 4 points clear of Wycombe and 7 points clear of eventual play off achievers Posh but they both had a game in hand. I wouldn’t describe that as “hugely secure” given there were 33 points still on the table.

Three games to the end of the season. We’re SECOND in the league. Save all your whinging and moaning until the end of the season. Maybe just maybe get behind the team and let’s see what happens eh! Jeeeez give me strength. So many drama queens on here.

In fairness and unlike some, you've been entirely consistent in your observations over the course of the season, but taking Wycombe as an example, what was wrong with the team selection? Was it not another occasion where he actually got it right, which I concede, he hasn't always, but was let down by a forward line who lacked composure?

Some fans will always find it impossible to enjoy the moment, im annoyed about last night but you’ve got to embrace the ups and downs because it’ll be gone in a couple of weeks. As well unfortunately the hangover of Mel’s tenure still has its implications. We got into a decent position and everyone gets twitchy that it’ll be bottled because it’s not perfect.
I find it quite funny that I see people whinging about Warne in a league we haven’t even got to. What makes you think about that and then think it’s worth posting on here or Twitter or whatever?

McGoldrick was only missing for the first two games. He was available for all the rest. But so what? Warne lost Bird for the whole of the key month of February when results started to falter and was working with Rosenior's squad. But you should know very well that Clowes took the decision not to appoint Rosenior for reasons beyond mere results. The continual harping back to Rosenior by some posters is tedious for that very reason and no-one knows how the season would have gone with him in charge.
I swear I've never come across a situation before where an element in a clubs fanbase has moaned so much about a manager with their team in 2nd place. I'm sure some of our fans have totally lost the plot.

Pompey fan in peace, I personally think you boys will win all your remaining games from what I saw the other night you have enough to do it and you won’t need to sit back like you did in the second half. I personally like Paul Warne he comes across as an honest guy not like that arrogant Ian Evatt really praying that they stay down. Wycombe losing today was your best result but they are no great shakes. I was worried when we went there on Good Friday as they were on a bit of a run but we won comfortably. Teams that  play on the front foot against us we usually beat as we did against Peterborough the previous week who also were on a run of 5 straight wins. Teams that park the bus we struggle to break down like Shrewsbury yesterday we huffed and puffed all game and were fortunate to come away with 3 points. Most of us still are not taking it as given that we are going up, lose to Bolton then we have Barnsley on the Tuesday lose that and it will be twitchy bum time definitely do not want to go to Lincoln on the last day needing 3 points. Anything can happen this Saturday against Bolton but we won comfortably at Fratton 3-1 so it would be good to win that will give us 2 home games to seal the Championship. Anyway good luck Derby are to big a club like us to be stuck in Div 1.
