I hope you like real ale.
If so a pub tour is recommended.
Brunswick, Alexandra, Smithfield, Exeter Arms, being my pick.
Countryside is lovely...not so much in March though. Enjoy.

It was a question, not a statement, so I'd appreciate it if you'd dial back the righteous indignation, but I'll explore the theme a little further. Haiti is a murderous s*******. Who's fault is that?
France's? They were kicked out by the inhabitants well over 200 years ago, and the colonial population killed. Not their problem, I would contend.
The USA carry some blame as they occupied in the early 20th century and massively damaged the country.
75 years later though, they've hit rock bottom. Is that anything to do with anyone in the UK? Not for me, especially when we've got our own roof to fix.
How much blame do the inhabitants carry for their own circumstances? Some? None?
People kill each other in the absence of civilisation. That could almost be a workable definition of civilisation.
Can a civil society be imposed? Even by a nation as powerful as the USA, backed by it's allies? The girls of Afghanistan would say the evidence is against.
Until the people of Haiti stand for themselves, they'll live and die on their knees. They could be helped, and I'll bet they will be, slowly...but it's on them to learn their lessons.

At what point does a people begin to take responsibility for the state of it's nation. You can't impose peace, social responsibility, law and order etc from outside, or can you?

On the back of 4 straight wins, the 4 point gap and the 4-0 in the reverse fixture, I'm feeling quite relaxed and confident, and forecast a win.
    Cue disaster...

Well, you could try the classic "I forgot the rings" maneuver and make a clean escape to watch the game.

Hello! I’m new to the forum and posting - so please be patient with me! My grandpa Harry Brown was the editor of the match day program “The Ram” until he passed away in 1988, and I was brought up as an avid Derby fan living in Lancashire. Recently I’ve been at my parents house, and came across a box full of his belongings from his office that was cleared when he died. There are lots of photos and negatives from pictures that went in to the program, along with cuttings, programs, letters etc. I was wondering if there would be any interest if I posted pictures on here? Maybe people would recognise those in the photos? Adding a photo of car parking pass for 1988/89 season unused as an example. So much history ☺️

VAR has destroyed the instantaneous joy of scoring a goal. A player in a suspiciously offside position leads me to glance at the lino and the ref whilst jumping around, however, if the same was to happen in a game with VAR, I wouldn't celebrate until the VAR check is over, but by then, the moment has passed.
It's sucking the joy out of live football.

People will think I'm being over dramatic, but these are some of the most important games in our history. We've never spent more than two consecutive seasons in this god-forsaken league. Fail to get promoted again this season and there could be a downward spiral. Crowds will fall away, good players will leave, the academy will be ransacked again...
Make it out and maybe we'll look back in a few years and pinpoint this moment as when everything changed, and Derby County rose up the leagues to restore themselves and their reputation among England's footballing elite.

Not quite old enough! 🙂 I was a Rams fan then but I don't think my parents would haved let me travel all the way down from West Yorkshire on my own at 11 years of age! 🙂 First time I tried to get down was the Forest game which we won 4-1 but I only made it as far as Leeds, Our cash wouldn't stretch any further than that and my first actual game was I believe Man City at the Baseball Ground when we signed Swindlehurst on the pitch! I've seen quite a few downs and not seen too many ups since then, let's hope this season is an up as it's been too long! 🙂

...has announced her retirement from competitive cycling.
I thought she deserved her own thread as one of Britain's greatest Olympians and greatest cyclists of either sex, but also as the epitome of a grounded, modest superstar. She and her husband Jason are no 'Posh and Becks' just great examples of how to deal with sporting success and all that comes with it.
