You've been working in or near Government for some time Turk, There's dark forces out there...I find it hard to believe either the Israelis or the USA with all the intelligence at there disposal...had missed an opportunity.

As an aside...why would a Hamas terrorist carry secret documents with him 🤷‍♂️

Of course how silly of me. I should have realised that man hasn’t been on the moon, that 9/11 was actually carried out with the connivance of the Americans, that Thatcher closed more coal mines than Wilson and that the Earth is flat

This took months to plan, there is no way that Israeli authorities were not aware of it, which means that they wanted it.  They wouldn't set up their own people for slaughter I hear you say.  Hamas knew what the response to their brutality would be.  They wouldn't set up their own people for slaughter I hear you say.  Madness and evildoers having their way and the common serfs the ones to suffer as usual.

Ooh, I wonder what colour the sky is in your world.

Has a country that's had a woman in the top job ever started a war, (apart from Thatcher v the working class)?

Yes. Yom Kippur war 1973. Well not started exactly but heavily involved

To Warne's credit, I think reading between the lines that we were in for Nyambe from a fairly early point in the window. He kept making reference to a player who was waiting for a Championship move but hopefully will come. I think that may have been in reference to Nyambe.

He's going to be a on a very good wage here - he was one of Wigan's highest earners last season in the Championship. He rejected a decent contract from Blackburn the season before to get it. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he's on £10-12k a week here, perhaps why it was negotiated until January as it was a big investment on our part and Nyambe didn't really fancy playing League One.

It looks like it's working out at present, though.

I still think that the January date contract is because he will be missing for up to 6 weeks in the Africa Cup

  5. In an abbreviation, even if it’s an ownership one, an apostrophe shouldn’t be used. It would be Derby County Football Club’s Stadium but Derby County FCs Stadium. A little known rule dug up from the 1920s. Probably no longer valid. I’ll get back to my Horlicks ( no apostrophe)

I think lots do Archie, This thread confirms this, If James Corden was charged for impersonating a comedian and I was on the Jury, He's guilty as soon as I'm sworn in 😁, A heard of wild horses wouldn't move me 👍

Shouldn’t that be a heard of ears? 😋

I must admit I never understand the negativity towards the club / personnel. If football and its management was an exact science then the likes of Luton, Bournemouth etc [for instance] would never be anything other than League 2 clubs. There's a saying that says "every dog has its day" and it's true. We will get back to the Prem at some point in the future... l don't know when...and no doubt there will be a bit of luck behind it....and in the meantime we keep supporting the club we love...and remembering that sh1t happens...

Hope it’s soon. I’ll be 78 next year! Can’t hang around forever

Football is generally cyclical, which generally means we'll be back. However, I believe we are perhaps the club with the worst record in the country for messing things up. I remember years ago reading a piece in the Times which said we had a special prize for missing chances to succeed from Clough onwards. Some may call it the 'gypsy curse' from the Racecourse Ground but there is something about us which leads us to spurning glorious opportunities for success.

However, a club our size will not be kept down and out forever. We will get another run at the top flight in the next two decades of that I am sure. Eventually, we will stumble upon the correct combination at the right time and get back to where we belong.

Agree. But the gypsy curse came from the fact that a tribe of Romani were evicted from the site of the Baseball Ground not the Racecourse

we are in the same division as them and are competing with them,

this whole club size argument is just ridiclous it doesnt matter how big a club is if they act like a league one club like we are we will be a league one club, the longer we act like this and forest act like a premier league club the bigger the gap will get until there isnt even a rivalvary any more

Rubbish. I know you are trying to get your negative point over about our current status but to say that Burton and Derby are clubs of comparable size is ridiculous. Any assessment of a club’s size has to take into account history, trophies, fanbase, ground, revenue etc and that will not vary a great deal whether a club is in League 2 or Premier League though obviously revenue would increase with promotions. Form is another matter and we may well have the current form of a mid table League 1 club.

Since the lot down the A52 are far more important than us these days, is it time for us to suggest some new rivals for them?

Well I’ve never liked Scunthorpe ever since they beat us 3-2 back in 1959 in Div 2. And winning on penalties in the League Cup 10 years ago. And as for the rude word in their name……..

The reason Mel didn't apply we would of had to of had the accounts filed our 'up-to-date' accounts at companies house as a condition.

The EFL were only going to loan clubs the money if they were seen to be on a sound enough financial footing to repay the loan, clearly we wouldn't have been, due to reckless spending.  Mel knew there was no chance of the loan....

Well apart from “we would of had to of had…” I agree.
