This made me chuckle. I reckon you and my old man would have some interesting stories to swap. I note from some of your posts over the years that you've been to some other 'interesting spots', not just Salone. For his part, my dad seemed to spend a disproportionate amount of time in African war zones throughout his 'career' and until I was about 20 I honestly believed it was because he was good at languages 😂
Hi. Yes indeed. I worked for 30 years on British aid and World Bank funded projects from Malaysia to the Caribbean but mainly in African countries. Somalia was the scariest, Ethiopia the best. Most African countries are football mad, Premier League obviously but most know all about the Rams

They do like their footie in Salone. Been there 4 times on work. Last time I was arrested as a spy and put in Wilberforce Barracks prison. In Freetown of all places. British High Commissioner had to get me out. But lovely people.

Sir Galahad rescued a fair maiden from the clutches of an evil Baron. Together they rode away on his mighty steed until they came to a river. “Don’t worry” he told her. “We can jump the river”. “Oh good” she said “I could do with good knight’s leap”
I’ll get me coat……

Just back from the match. West Ham probably just warranted the win but I have to say that Forest looked good

Agree. Warne out, worn out

Of course, there are some on here, such as Ramit, who truly believe that Israel deliberately allowed over a thousand of their citizens to be massacred as a pretext to invade Gaza. Will they I wonder now hold that Hamas deliberately bombed the hospital to gain international support? Both as ludicrous as the other

You've been working in or near Government for some time Turk, There's dark forces out there...I find it hard to believe either the Israelis or the USA with all the intelligence at there disposal...had missed an opportunity.
As an aside...why would a Hamas terrorist carry secret documents with him 🤷♂️
Of course how silly of me. I should have realised that man hasn’t been on the moon, that 9/11 was actually carried out with the connivance of the Americans, that Thatcher closed more coal mines than Wilson and that the Earth is flat

This took months to plan, there is no way that Israeli authorities were not aware of it, which means that they wanted it. They wouldn't set up their own people for slaughter I hear you say. Hamas knew what the response to their brutality would be. They wouldn't set up their own people for slaughter I hear you say. Madness and evildoers having their way and the common serfs the ones to suffer as usual.
Ooh, I wonder what colour the sky is in your world.

Has a country that's had a woman in the top job ever started a war, (apart from Thatcher v the working class)?
Yes. Yom Kippur war 1973. Well not started exactly but heavily involved

To Warne's credit, I think reading between the lines that we were in for Nyambe from a fairly early point in the window. He kept making reference to a player who was waiting for a Championship move but hopefully will come. I think that may have been in reference to Nyambe.
He's going to be a on a very good wage here - he was one of Wigan's highest earners last season in the Championship. He rejected a decent contract from Blackburn the season before to get it. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he's on £10-12k a week here, perhaps why it was negotiated until January as it was a big investment on our part and Nyambe didn't really fancy playing League One.
It looks like it's working out at present, though.
I still think that the January date contract is because he will be missing for up to 6 weeks in the Africa Cup

Just watching Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid on ITV4. Just like watching Derby……..🤨

In an abbreviation, even if it’s an ownership one, an apostrophe shouldn’t be used. It would be Derby County Football Club’s Stadium but Derby County FCs Stadium. A little known rule dug up from the 1920s. Probably no longer valid. I’ll get back to my Horlicks ( no apostrophe)

Grammar OCD. I have it too. Hateful 😂
And there’s an apostrophe where it’s not needed. “Derby County FC’s…..”. Heaven forfend!

Yes Namibia has qualified. He’ll be in Ivory Coast January and February though I think Namibia won’t get far in the tournament so he might well be available from February
