So I had been thinking Rooney left because he was tied into Kirchner's bid.
But someone posted a link to an article in the Sun (cannot find it now), which said he left so he can focus on getting his coaching badges.
Pretty mundane as explanations go but it does make sense now I think about it.
When asked about the Everton job, Rooney said something along the lines of "I am ready to be a Premier League Manager, I think I am good enough to do it. But, right now, my focus is on Derby County". There was still a chance, at that time, of avoiding relegation and ownership wasn't resolved.
Now relegation has happened and the club is on the verge of salvation, I believe Rooney thinks his job here is done and that he can now focus on his own career. He clearly has aspirations of managing at the top level - and feels he's ready, even if Derby are still some way off.
So I wholeheartedly thank him for keeping the club together during arguably its most difficult time. Thank you for your loyalty, dignity and resolve.
Good luck in your future career.?

I’m convinced that if he ever returns to PP as the manager of the visiting team (you never know, we might get drawn against a premier league team in one of the cups one day ?) he’ll get a well deserved very warm welcome.

Good man.... Was really supportive and helped keep Audrina dancing.
Didn't deserve the stick he got from the fans.
I'm disappointed that he has gone - I thought he was underrated and would have benefited from a decent GK coach, like Steele.
Ah well. The floodgates are now open....

Wazza owes us nothing. I'm not going to address some of the harsher posts concerning his style of play and managerial acumen. After all, we're all entitled to an opinion, or so I'm told. What I would say is that whatever folk feel about him as a manager, some respect is owed to Rooney as a man. He has been the glue that held this club together, our unbreakable rock. He has been the one who told us how it is, who stuck with the club through thick and thin and who banded the players into the team who ran through walls for each other and for us fans.
I'm sad and a little disappointed that he chose now to leave us but we don't know the reasons behind his decision. I strongly suspect that there's more to the decision than him throwing his toys out of the pram because Kirchner did not get the gig. I also suspect that his comments since leaving are borne out of loyalty and a desire not to rock the boat further. Diplomacy, if you will. One thing Rooney has always been is his own man, so I'd be fairly certain that not being able to work with Kirchner is only part of his reasoning. One plausible explanation that I've not seen ventured is that the strain of managing the club through crisis after crisis, being kept in the dark by the money men, the relentless pursuit of the club by the EFL and the demands made on him by the media have finally taken their toll. After his herculean effort to hold this club together, watching the player roster slowly stripped to the bone has most likely proven the to be the straw that has broken his back.
Lest we forget, first and foremost, Wayne is a relatively young man with a wife and 3 young kids. His first duty is to them and not to a club that fans aside, has treated him poorly, his supposedly astronomic wages aside. There's no doubt in my mind that he holds a deep affinity for the club and us fans, but it cannot be to the detriment of his health or his family and homelife. My gut instinct is that he simply needs some time away from the spotlight and the grinding reality of trying to get Derby County back on the rails.
As for the future, I've no doubt he will be back in a less stressful role in time, nor that his loyalty and work ethic will not yield success in time. He has my immense gratitude and respect, despite my having been one of his harshest critics not so long ago. I wish him nothing but good health and good fortune in whatever he chooses to do next.

You're only a fan if you've been to every home and away game for the past ten seasons I've been told apparently.
So unless you fall into this category you don't qualify to have an opinion on anything to do with the club full stop according to at least 2 posters on here ?

We are better when we are up against it.
Derby folk are fairly easy going, don't get too excited generally speaking unless someone gives it the big un, then we take a step forward and take it to em.
Thats what happened last season. Thats what we will take in to next season.
Roller coaster for me...big highs, low lows.....but we will be there, whatever, my philosophy will always be "as you walk into Derby, your hearts will skip a beat"...

Appoint managers with a similar style so, when one goes, another can take over without a full revamp of the squad.
Look at the different styles of Lampard and Rowett as an example of what I mean.

Just to clarify.....I wasn't suggesting anyone change allegiance. That's impossible, right? No matter what we go through.
I was merely asking if people wished for Derby County to have a few hum drum years languishing in mid table, winning some, losing some, in the Premier League.
Or do they prefer the roller coaster ride that we always seem to be in?

We are all Derby County fans. We have no choice. We support them through thick and thin - and always will. It's our club.?
But would you rather things be a little less stressful? A few years of respite? Or maybe, the "stress" (not real stress) of chasing a Champions League spot?
Yes there are other possibilities. It's late, been a long day and I'm too knackered to list all the possible options. Don't find one you like, just write about it - or move on. Ta.
Personally, I have found the last few months to be traumatic but I do think we will look back and remember the achievements, the games, the togetherness very fondly.
I love being a Derby fan. COYR ?

I want 100% Rosenoir to be the new manager.

I want the consistency. I want him to be able to maintain some of the relationships he has built with players including non contracted players.
He deserves the gig. Let’s not forget, a Championship side wanted him as their manager and a few on here are saying he’s not good enough?
Has Mac definitely gone to Man Utd? Would he make a good assistant? Either way - I’m not sure Rosenoir needs lots of experience in the number 2 role - he just needs a very good coach. Maybe a Michael Carrick type individual or maybe someone more offensive minded.
Either way, what worries more is whether we can offer him the job whilst in Administration? Three days (if that’s what the deadline for Clowes is) is three days wasted to get new players in etc

    Let's keep things in perspective....
The most important thing yesterday was that it looks like club has been saved. A week or so ago that was looking unlikely.
Nevertheless, it's disappointing - albeit understandable - that Rooney has decided to leave.
Some seem disappointed at the timing of his announcement, others (amazingly IMHO) feel let down by his departure and a few appear pleased he's gone.
My own feeling is that he decided to go once Kirchner's bid fell through but that he stayed around until the club was secure.
My opinion of Rooney changed beyond recognition last year. I think his dignified manner when dealing with the issues is what rallied everyone. Rooney's role in the club's rescue should never be underestimated.
I will always be grateful. Thanks Wayne.
