If, and it’s a big “if” we resubmit our accounts and we’ve breached spending limits then we will be penalised rightly, and Mel and Pearce would need to take some blame on this issue. But that’s not happened yet. We’re facing a scenario where the EFL is trying to penalise us for something where we may have not even gained an advantage. If that isn’t a witch-hunt I don’t know what is.
I consider my views quite balanced so surprised to be called extremist. As for your constant negativity, have you ever posted anything even slightly positive on here? You seem to find negatives in most things.

I agree it is tough. I also find it frustrating given whatever the topic the same few try to turn it around to fit their agenda. It’s a shame as I actually have some sympathy with their argument but am turned against it because of their incessant desire to get it across. Lastly for me though it’s gone beyond that now, whatever the rights or wrongs of the Club, Uncle Mel or Stephen Pearce in the run up to where we are now, it’s now become a siege mentality for me as the EFL appear to be after us at all cost. Enough is enough, It’s time to all come together, circle the wagons and fight our corner until the bitter end. In fighting & bickering does us no good at all and only benefits our enemies. Forget the past it’s now us against the rest.

I think the negativity in response to this story from many is mainly because we do need a leader as manager who does pull everyone together against the negativity reflected towards the club and the position we are in to make a positive and bring everyone together as David and many of us want. If the story has any truth in it then Wayne is not the person for that. However, the constantly repeated negative thread themes and comments are extremely depressing. I and others have tried to start more footballing or positive type threads and while they work for a couple of hours the barrage swallows them quite quickly. I think people have given up with that. Even my go to happy thread about Miekle the puppy's training has potentially sad news this week. The problem is there are so many different issues facing the club and we all care so much, the threads just reflect everyones deep concerns rather than just being contrary for the sake of it. I guess it is easier and possibly better for people to vent on here than towards their nearest and dearest. Trying to see the positive, the threads and comments on the whole do reflect how much we all passionately love the club but people have different ways of expressing that.

I wouldn’t take the punishment out of principle, but then I can understand why the club would just to settle it and be allowed to move on.
Whilst you have the likes of Gibson and Wycombe threatening to take legal action, the EFL will continue to appeal to show they have done everything in their power.
My concern now is there is genuine tension between the club and the EFL, this might calm once Mel has completed the sale of the club, just fear that we will be scrutinised for any minor infraction now and on their radar.
With the club statements made, we have embarrassed them, shown the EFL up as the incompetent organisation it is, and that will have ruffled some big feathers.
Some would argue, we should have kept quiet, rolled over, but let’s not forget how this tension really all started, way back when Mel was the one actively fighting for better TV deals to benefit the entire Football League gaining support along the way.
I agree with @Dan_Ram, as fans of this club we should be doing our bit to change the narrative to the real issue here which should be a huge story.
Unfortunately though, the vocal fans we do have are using their voices to continue with their anger towards the club from top to bottom.
We have no chance of this happening and I find that kinda sad in all honesty, doesn’t feel like we have any togetherness at all right now. Some will argue that’s Mel’s fault for the way he’s run the club, but that’s missing the point here which Dan has made in this thread.
When you see other clubs like Leeds for example, blatantly cheating with spying on training sessions they were out in force over Derby forums and social media defending their club.
Us? We even had fans saying so what, they spied on our training sessions preparing to play them and that’s the difference.
Keogh, rather than look at what he did to this club, we have fans out there going through employment laws section 2b on page 456 that says we did wrong.
Forget the fact that the club captain refused a taxi home and stayed out with young lads, one of which had been drinking to get over the loss of his mum, get in a car with them.
No no, 2b in the employment law, page 456 ffs says we should have sacked them all, wanting us to write off one of our most valuable assets that could still perform for the club and actually needed an arm round him, some support as the young man tries to get over the loss of his mum.
I really dislike Leeds, REALLY dislike Leeds but I can’t help but respect the togetherness through right or wrong, that is there club and nobody shall attack it.
I’m sure you could link this to the atmosphere between the 2 grounds as well, feels like we’re waiting to boo rather than get behind the team.
As a disclaimer to this I do feel there are times when you cannot support, a player that has been racist for example, found guilty, but in fairness I don’t think he’s been that popular since with them.

If Rooney doesn’t resign, we have to sack him, to sack him will cost money.
Now the club have to look at this and say ok, do we believe in Rooney or not and take the financial hit.
You also then have to look at replacements, Evatt the name which gets thrown around, that will still cost to bring him in.
It’s ok coming up with dream managerial combos, but Wassall and McClaren might not even have any interest in the job.
McClaren was at Uni studying to move upstairs into a comfy office running a club.
Rooney is still here so that says they believe in him, which also means the players believe in him as it’s pretty obvious when they don’t.
So no, our best chance is actually just getting behind the bloke and give him that chance.
Draw a line under last season and see what happens.
Sitting here calling for his head, helping to continue this negative atmosphere which will spread like wildfire over the internet and follow into the ground when we can get back in, will be actively working against us.
Carry on though if that’s what you want, disagree strongly with what’s going on but it’s your voice to use.

Just wanted to bump this thread from last month in light of recent events.
I maintain its very unlikely we'll be playing League One football come August but there will be an inevitable weariness to this constant uncertainty with no clear end in sight. Its relentless & I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who is shaking their head with incredulity at all this, feeling really powerless & just craves a normal, quiet summer with the odd new signing
    Things to remember;
    1. Perspective - this club has come through some really grim times & yes, we're back here again but we survived in 1984, we survived in 2003-05 & we'll bounce back from this too. And others; Luton got a 30 point deduction, sank into non-league not so long back - they finished above us last year. Leeds were minus 15 points in League One & they came back too. Secondly, as some of the posts earlier on this thread demonstrate, there's some proper hard times being experienced by some out there that makes football seem very unimportant indeed.
    2. Whatever the morons behind the ESL think, clubs are all about the fans & this particular club is lucky to have a very loyal & large fanbase. We're a massive community of like minded folk - please don't forget & that this place is great for venting feelings, however irrational/furious/hopeless
    3. Tomorrow is another day & things don't stay the same indefinitely. All this will pass.
In the spirit of the second point, I'm going to back off the Rooney bashing for a bit. Made my feelings crystal clear but frankly I'm more concerned about the club stabilising and the fanbase uniting as a group & showing the commitment & loyalty needed to ride out these rough times. And if he does stay come what may & tries to turn this ship around, I'd be lying if that wouldn't impress me massively.
Long live DCFC, they'll never keep us down... ?

How about trying to help clubs stay afloat during tough times,,,No!!!! instead lets look at books from years ago!! complete and utter joke!!
Why don't we now go after QPR and Villa for breaking FFP and beating us at wembley ( not that I'd want us too! )
This has spiralled out of control and not sure how its going to be resolved now but one thing I know is....the EFL could've handled this much better....bunch of *****

The problem is that if the governing body do not state the approach that must be taken, then people will be creative in order to gain an advantage - particualrly whereby the rules prevent owners from competing with others that seem to have an unfair advantage (as is the case with parachute payments) - being creative may be questionable ethically, but it's quite clearly not cheating if the governing body has been too lax to set out (in advance) what is and what isn't allowed. A one line change to the rules when we first started with our 'unusual' depreciation method would have sorted this - the EFL were too incompetent to think through the implications and let it go for several years. We have not breached their rules because their rules are badly written/implemented and allowed us to take the approach that we did.....

Coincidentally, several years ago I drew up an approach for amortising deferred acquisition costs for my financial services employer.
Two or three years on, the auditors came back and said "your approach isn't the same as emerging market practice, which means that your profit profile looks different and market analysts won't be able to compare you with other companies".
We argued that our approach suited us, we understood it, and the accounting standards didn't prohibit it.
They had to agree, but fell back on the "market practice" line and indicated that a special note would have to be put in the audit report, which never is a good thing.
So we changed. With very ill grace.

I see parallels here. Dcfc are being pulled up on amortisation. Not Enron style valuation of fictional assets and hidden captive entities where all the losses are hidden to present a fictional view of the club to the world. The policy was no doubt adopted to enable a short term increase in wiggle room. In the knowledge that it's the end points that are important and if contracts/registrations ultimately expire for nothing then there will be a reckoning, as there has been, which is being fully recognised.
I have no idea what other variations clubs might use in other parts of the accounts. All sorts might be going on. If forests Greek owner can do favourable deals between his 2 clubs then that's a fault in the rule drafting.

The crucial part to remember is that the accounting method we used is not cheating - it’s an acceptable way of depreciating assets and was signed off by both our accountants and the EFLs. It only became an issue when McGuire highlighted it and the EFL decided we were trying to pull a fast one….FFP has backed ambitious owners into a corner where they either get creative in the hope they can gain a small advantage out else think ‘to hell with it’ and chuck the kitchen sink at getting promoted by completely ignoring FFP. We won’t be the last team to suffer at the hands of the EFL and FFP…..

At the minute we are being robbed of the chance to even give Rooney a fighting chance thanks to the EFL continuing to string this process out for as long as possible.

For sure he spent badly but the background to that and the failings of others explain it far more than berating someone who has financially backed / underwritten this club solidly for 5 years.

How with FFP / P+S regulations and the club losing money do you propose the new owners realistically invest in the team
If you can’t see that the youth policy was about keeping the club within those strictures then your reasoning and comprehension is dubious

Hi, it's the close season, I'm pretty disillusioned with Derby County after last season, so I am only checking in every now and then to see if there is any news about EFL punishments, takeovers, player transfers, kit launches etc. Of course, there never is but, hey ho, Derby fans get used to waiting.....
But I am amazed to see that the "Cocu versus Rooney" argument between @RoyMac5 and the rest of the world is continuing.
I admire all of your persistence and tenacity but surely both sides should recognize that everyone is entrenched in their views and are never going to change.
Myself, I have been massively frustrated with Roy's stubborn refusal to explain his inconsistent appraisal of the two. But I think we are just going to have to accept it and move on.
Maybe he's hoping if things turn around for the better, he can point at himself as being the one supporter who "kept the faith". A bit like Twitter trolls who start a rumour, one of them has to be right eventually and can then claim they're ITK. I dunno why Roy is doing it. Maybe he just genuinely believes that the circumstances and squad that Cocu had were not as bad as those faced by Rooney. I just don't know.
But I have given up trying to understand. Let's move on.
