I don't see them pressing the man in possession at all.

I thought that looked more like a system issue in that Denmark have the width to create an outball.

England tend to defend deep in all circumstances don't they? Which is fine. But then when you pick the ball up you're naturally deep. And if you have Harry Kane hitting a cross field pass along the floor without looking... You're staying deep.

Southgate should react. There's plenty he appears to have wrong here. I'm normally quite complimentary of Southgate. But there's a lot wrong here.

They think they are gonna win their last game vs Hungary. Hungary lost by 2 goals and had chances vs Germany. Scotland on the other hand were abysmal. 1 point in the bag and on the beach next week, the usual

Yeah i don't really think they looked like they were playing for their place in the next round.

If I'm a Scotland fan I wouldn't want to leave it to the Hungary game when it's just Switzerland. I mean they're not bad but you can't come to the tournament hoping to face San Marino.

I'm not sure why they feel Hungary are such a glaring opportunity. Switzerland looked pretty poor. I'd be a bit annoyed

Won in the 70's as Czechoslovakia I think ?

I meant they were talking like the goal was the countries greatest moment. "Magical for players and fans".

I think they will fancy their chances of getting out the group. I doubt scoring past Portugal will be a memorable achievement

  4. I'm sure Portugal will make the final with their typically boring 1 GD wins.

Danny Murphy describing Czech Republics goal as a magical moment for fans and players to score a goal in the group stage against Portugal. "Magical".

Must be about 20 years now that we've been having a hand shandy whenever Ronaldo steps up for a free kick.

  5. It's strange declaring that you're anti-war. I find myself declaring it a lot but realistically there's nobody outside of the safety of power that would be 'pro war'

Again it comes down to self defence and what we allow to pass as self defence.

Empires were built on self defence and securing borders.

You can find the most civilised and decent law abiding pillars of society can get behind a bit of mass killing if it's packaged and presented as self defence.

I respect your view @ramitthat you feel there's never a condition for supporting violence. I disagree though purely because people are easily frightened and easily manipulated into acting on that fear. That's just the sad way it is and it will never change.

American (and Russian) meddling in "national interests" is beyond infuriating. To me they're biggest destabilising threats and I despise listening to their politicians talk about human beings as if they're playing a game of Risk.

But I can't find a way to condemn Ukraine fighting back. I'm certainly no West is best daydreamer. It just comes down to plain fight for survival for Ukraine. It was brought to them that they must fight for their homes, their way of life, their future. I struggle to understand any argument that they should just accept their fate. I'm trying, but to be that far anti-war would mean I would have to roll over should Britain be invaded and my way of life threatened. It may be the fault of British foreign policy or whatever but at the end of the day if it's kill or be killed....

What I don't allow though is for British politicians to tell me that I'm under threat by threats I can't see and hear myself. So no, I don't support the next military campaign thousands of miles from home, Mr Prime Minister

  6. Whittaker is getting wrecked by the first boxer who's more than a select opponent.

These guys he's fighting are kind of compact and there to be tormented by him. Nobody at the top end of the division is going to be fooled by his dancing. They'll be looking at his feet thinking how they can cut him off and then turn it into a brawl he's not equipped for.

Is he going to get serious and start putting punches together and show that he's a pressure fighter? When? When he fights for a world title without ever showing it against tailor made opponents?

Is he going to develop power from somewhere?

He looks good. But there's not a lot to him, is there? Stylish, fast, elusive.... not a lot comes back from him though?

  7. I remember Billam Smith v Okolie and Okolie lost a point and was criticised for holding but Billam-Smith knew how to sucker him in. Okolie has an ugly style and I don't like the bloke but he was only half to blame for some of that.

And again I think Billam-Smith was doing similar again. I'm not a fan.

    Bit gutted for Isaac Chamberlain.

Didn't watch Gervonta Davis but apparently it was going to expose him. Didn't look very exposed from the highlights.

  8. I'm sure this won't effect their confidence going forward. I imagine being the tournament opener can be pretty nerve wracking. I imagine they probably just wanted to keep things tight and that lead to more nerves which leads to more errors and then to even more pressure. I'm no fan, but I do feel sorry for them. An embarrassing night but just put it behind you. At the end of the day, the result might not be what they'd hoped for but they still sit top of the group with a +4 goal difference

  9. I hate the reaction Mr Brightside gets. Everyone thinks it's such an epic song but it isn't. They're all wrong.

I like to try and ruin the vibe. Try and make eye contact with people singing along and having a good time so I can psychologically destroy their enthusiasm, hoping one day that the song loses it's status as a floor filler.

Pished up people singing the chorus and miming the other verses.

  10. Only just caught up.

Bit frustrating seeing that Norris and Russell had the pace but couldn't capitalise. Verstappen seemed to enjoy that win more than any other in recent memory. One that wasn't nailed on!

Perez wasn't exactly pushing up through the field before he binned it, was he? That contract is a gift.

Magnussen making the most of wet tires. Haas were so impressed they stopped for pictures during his pit. Who needs points anyway.

    Good race though.

  11. In this day and age it's unlikely you won't find dirt on someone if you dig enough.

Remember there was a story of Shaun Barker arrogantly pushing his way to the bar in Derby one night

When all he really did was what a lot of people do in a crowded bar. Reached through with his hand holding money to get it on the bar.

Rishi Sunak getting allot of stick for leaving the commemorations early yesterday in order to do an interview with ITV, leaving Lord Cameron to deputise. No political comment here, but I think it would normally be expected for the PM to be there when the leaders of the other western allies were.

Ah. The man putting forward National Service.
