This time last year Wilson was rubbish according to the football managers on here !!
A couple of indifferent games, followed by injury, followed by a couple more indifferent games & he was being castigated.
It was only from that wonderful free kick at Old Trafford & onwards that it was acknowledged we have a good player here.
I'm not saying Dowell is anywhere near Wilson's quality, but FFS give the lad a chance !!

I've just watched Marriott's goal back again. Bloody hell, that's ridiculous! It's an absolute screamer, the first touch, the technique, everything is perfect.

Early days chill thee boots. Holmes and Marriott will make a huge difference.
Gutted to have lost my (stolen) match threads though.

Love it how the season is over after 4 games for some people! Seriously have a quiet word with yourselves.
Playoffs means late start to pre-season, new manager, new players and a really difficult fixture list to start the season, did anyone think it was going to be any different.
Find the right system and get everyone fit, we have an 11 that can challenge the top 6 (like about another 10 teams!)

Same moronic comments about Wilson this time last year. Get a grip. Young player, away from home, new manager, new system. He'll play his part just like everyone else in the squad. Patience is a virtue. Idiocy, sadly, is not.

You should have just stopped there. It's the 4th game of the season. He was rubbish tonight, but he wasn't the only one. He deserves time.

I am really nit picking here but the only criticism is that it doesn’t feature Patrick Bamford crying.

    This thread is depressing.
Another insight into why we as fans simply do not deserve success. Player written off by mid August must be a new record.

Anyway lets hope the bloke with 3 eredivisie titles as a manager knows more about football than some of our fans 😊

I thought it was a decent penalty to be fair. Feigned to go in the same corner as his last pen and then calmly rolled it down the middle. He had the ballls to step up again and executed it so keeps the job for me.

For me, Knight absolutely has to start. Really liked what I saw today, loved what I saw away at Scunthorpe. I think the most balanced midfield we can put out is one of Bielik, Knight and Dowell.
Marriott looks ready to me now. Looked sharp when he came on, made a huge difference. Hope we unleash him from the start, I think I'd put Waghorn on the right wing, Lawrence on the left with Marriott leading the line.

Which Derby County player isn't yet quite up to be full speed but will eventually become a pivotal cog in a rampant promotion machine?.......

    Step forward Kieran Dowell.

I think he's a cracking player. Comfortable on the ball under pressure, with an eye for an attacking pass. Liked him when he came here with forest and I think he'll do very well for us this season. Can't really understand the negativity.

A very harsh assessment I feel. A lovely ball into Waghorn for the first today. He is a tidy player, maybe not a ‘get off your seat, wow player’ but tidy. I think there is more to come and look forward to seeing what he can deliver.
Football is about partnerships not necessarily the individual. The sooner some start to realise this rather than target individuals the better.
We had some brilliant individuals last year - Mount, Wilson and Tomori would cost a fortune, but we still came 6th. Individually the new loans may not be as eye catching, but could yet prove to be more effective on the whole.

Any of our previous managers would have lost. Cocu changed the system and got a good draw from a very tough game. We’ve lost about 14 players and the three loanees were our best. It’s a work in progress and I’m happy seeing Knight, Lowe in the team and still picking up points. This season won’t be easy but I think we will progress as a club over the next few. Every other manager eg rowett with older players and Lampard with loans has been looking at the present whereas Cocu is looking at the future and this takes time. The team and the club hasn’t progressed for years but now is the time and sometimes it takes time.

Really glad, though, how flexible Cocu is in terms of his system. if you can shift between 4-3-3 ( and it's variations), 3-5-2 and whatever else, you always keep the opposition guessing. can be a way to get 2 up top, too.

Undeserved draw, but very nearly won it.
Better result than last season at Stoke, at least.
