Agree. We were at Alexander Stadium this morning for the athletics.  Infrastructure was terrible, massive queues for food outlets, nowhere to buy a hot drink unless you waited in queue alongside the burger buyers. £8 for a bacon cob and £17 for chicken strips and chips.
And the toilets, all temporary facilities, filthy and very long queues.
They have put up two massive temporary stands but seemingly not put in place the Infrastructure to make them work. We were totally exposed to the elements,  first it threw it down and then the sun came out and baked us. Nowhere to get into shade and NOWHERE to sit down except your seat.
I'm a veteran of Olympics, World Championships and two Commonwealth games and this is my worst experience to date.
We are going again on Sunday - not particularly looking forward to it!

If you care enough (not that sure I do) to understand why she did it, this is a good write up. TLDR: even though she knew she had done it she was hugely offended of being accused of having done it and that is what drove her to lose all sense of reason on the possible outcome, even when advised as such.

The role is for 'Diversity and Inclusion' - maybe with the increasing diversity you allude to that might be the challenge that is driving the hire. I'm with @JoetheRam - the NHS has 1.4 million people working in it, yet they go and hire a role to help them work better together and it's bureaucracy, police are stripped to the core and they're lazy effers if they can't answer a query in double quick time.
Maybe, on the day that energy provider Centrica announce profits (a five-fold increase btw) of £1.34bn, on a day that Grant Shapps refuses to meet with the rail unions and criticizes train drivers for earning £60k when he spaffed £1m on a self-promotion PR campaign (and a day after Liz Truss promises to make it harder / sometimes illegal to strike if she is voted PM) it's not the people trying to do the best they can that are at fault. On a day when Nadine Dorries can't even remember (as the Culture Secretary) when the UK hosted the Commonwealth games despite being on a salary well in excess of the aforesaid D&I manager (and paying her daughter £40k a year to do photocopying).
Maybe, just maybe, it's time to admit that it's not bureaucracy, illegal immigrants, the French or Keir Starmer that are the problem. Or shall we just continue to behave like sheep and be fed whatever story they need to tell us to snuffle their snouts even deeper in the trough.
Rant over, I guess this post will be down before the sun but I feel better for it....

    Ah - apologies.
Then i agree with your point. The mens game has had centuries to develop to the point it is at now.
Of course the initial level of the womens teams will be lower. They've not had as long to develop the infrastructure, etc, but over time they will get better and better

Mbutu was also the leader at the time of the Rumble In The Jungle - story in film When We Were Kings was that they were worried that local pickpockets and muggers would make hay when all the journalists and dignitaries came to Kinshasa for the fight. So Mbutu rounded up a load of them, took them to the dungeons where he had five or six small time crooks in a cell. He then had them all executed and said to the rest "try anything at all and that is what will happen to you".
I hadn't heard that story before though, thx for it.

There's a bit of a backstory to that Zaire team.
Their military dictator was so proud of them reaching the finals that he promised them a house each on their triumphant return and gave them a big kitty to spend in Germany.
However, after getting beat by Scotland and hammered by Yugoslavia (the team downed tools because their kitty and wages had been dipped by the official hangers on) he was embarrassed enough to threaten them with "don't return home" if they lost by 4 goals v Brazil.
There's a theory that the defender deliberately kicked the ball away to waste time and knock the ball as far away from the goal as possible.
As far as the team was concerned, they were playing that game to save their life.

That's a great point you make. I'm genuinely pleased for the England Women's Team and everyone involved - it's been a long, hard struggle for recognition and they've certainly got it now. Hopefully it will lead to further growth in the Women's game and a greater share of the pie.
I'm not yet willing or able to invest much of my time and money in it though, just as I don't fanatically watch the England Men's team, or much football outside of the division that Derby are playing in. I didn't watch a single game of the Women's Euros and only caught the last ten minutes of the game yesterday. It just didn't appeal to me. That might change in time but, for now, I'll wish them well simply as a remote observer.
