Treason, British spy thriller on Netflix, surprisingly good….

I soooo wanted to like that because I love the genre.

But I ended up hating it.

The ease with which the guy was poisoned at the start was totally preposterous.

And the script was so lame and cliche-ridden with exchanges like,  'We're done here 'No, we're just getting started'.

It felt like it had been written by ChatGPT.

In all fairness, I didn't get past the first episode, but that is how much I hated it.

Us, Sheffield Wednesday, Bournemouth I think, and I hate to say it, but forest is okay. I like the simple line based emblems, as allowed to the complicated coat of arms style ones.

And they make a great tattoo.

Ours is by far the best though.

I genuinely think Forest's is awful. It looks like a very camp Christmas tree.

  3. About halfway through Beef on Netflix and really enjoying it.

It's been mentioned here before (forget who by now), but it's a quirky black comedy about an escalating conflict between a man and a woman after a road rage incident.

It's not very often that you see a US-produced programme that has Korean protagonists and I'm really enjoying it.

Some laugh-out-loud jokes and a very good observation of how something small can get out of hand.

I'm meh about Ali Wong as a stand-up, but I like her as an actor and the guy who plays her wimpy Japanese husband is very good.

You probably know this already, but they shoot Succession on film.

They shot the majority of that episode in 1 take, so had to conceal the canisters of film around the set in order to film it, as the film only lasts for 15 minutes, and the scene is a lot longer.

I knew it was shot on film but I had no clue that was shot as one scene. A great job.

Have you ever seen the movie, Boiling Point with Stephen Graham? That entire film was shot in one go at the third attempt and I thought it was brilliant

Just watching Episode 3 of the current series - I was not expecting that!

    Brilliant acting!

    No, me neither.

It was brilliant acting and the camera work and editing is crazy good.

I have no clue what is going on half the time (in terms of who's buying who and why) and I'm not sure you're supposed to know, but it really doesn't matter.

  7. Finished Tulsa King and by the end I was really enjoying it. It was a 6 for a while but maybe an 8 by the end. Glad we stuck with it.

Relented to Mrs Badger and started Succession last night knowing we'd catch up.

Great first episode. Sad it's to be the last season.

No offence intended or anything mate (and I could have easily picked a number of other posts like this, but yours was just the most recent...), but what are you actually expecting to happen on the pitch? What's the game-plan with a system like this?

I suspect that the reason Warne likes 352 is it gives him 3 runners in the middle of the pitch, while still having 2 strikers up top to lump crosses at.  Your system has neither of those things.  We'll struggle to play through midfield as Bird and Smith are probably going to be outnumbered in there as a 2, McGoldrick will wander looking for the ball (because that's what he always does) so there's no focal point up front to play off, and then you've got 4 attacking wide players crossing to nobody in the box.

No offence intended or anything mate but what are you expecting to happen by using reason and logic in a football forum?

  9. I like this formation. It just looks happy too.

                                 Forsyth

                             Mendez-Lang

    Roberts                                                   Smith

         Smith                                                Roberts

                 Bird.                                    Sibley

You won’t be treated like animals by us, we’re just grateful to be playing clubs like Derby. We’re used to Barnet, Hartlepool, Rochdale, etc so are still rubbing our eyes in disbelief when clubs bring more than 200 fans. But we also rub our eyes in disbelief when we see aeroplanes, so it’s not that big a compliment.

    Anyway, enjoy your day out!

Holy crap, I'm travelling to Malaga from Exeter in June. Any clue what I'll be boarding? A goat maybe?

I love live stand up comedy. This year I have tickets for Nikki Glaser (first time live), Peter Kay (first time live) and Sarah Millican (seen her live 3 times before, always brilliant).

Over the years I’ve seen too many to mention but loved Reeves and Mortimer, Newman and Baddiel, Frank Skinner and Fern Brady to name a few.

Been to many a Funhouse Comedy night at the Old Bell in Derby too, always a good laugh and have found the compare and at least 2 of the 3 acts to be worth seeing.

On my wish list Taylor Tomlinson.

I like Nikki Glaser but never seen her live.

We have tickets to see Sarah Millican next year. Mrs Badger loves her. I like her but it wouldn't break my heart to miss it.

Our next gig isn't until August and Jimmy Carr in Truro. Have front row seat so excited about that. Seen him once before and he was excellent.

Saw Reeves and Mortimer in the late 90s and it was utter chaos with Uncle Peter stealing the show. Skinner circa 1995 was possibly the greatest show I've ever seen. Saw him last year in Plymouth and he was very good but not quite as edgy.

Never saw Newman and Baddiel but would love to have History Today was genius.

  12. The Batman.

If you look up style over substance in the dictionary it says The Batman.

I'm stuck halfway through and cannot make myself go back.

It's not that it's bad and the cinematography is great, it's just a bit boring and Batman is just a surly knob.

    Does it get better?

Wrong thread I know, but I am really getting into Tulsa King now, definitely gets better with each episode.

OMG just watched this week’s Succession.

    Barely breathed throughout.

    Wow, just wow.

Mrs Badger wants to start it and I may have to relent when we get to the end of Tulsa King. I suppose it lets it builds as the writers intended.

  14. For those of you interested in black comedy and haven't seen Barry, check it out, it's brilliant.

Henry Winkler is fantastic as the acting teacher (a role he was born for) and the guy playing the eponymous lead, Bill Hader, was a long-term member of Saturday Night Live and also very, very good.

If you haven't seen any, definitely try and go back to Season 1 because there are a lot of plot lives weaving through it.

Definitely, a league above Tulsa King, although I am quite enjoying that.
