I’d say it’s a matter of perspective, and there’s maybe more context that’s missing from the tweet.
Warne may be answering a direct question and saying there’s not going to be any more renewals before the season ends, but that doesn’t mean some of those players’ contracts won’t be renewed at all, just that we won’t know for certain until the season ends. In which case the incentive is there to earn that promotion and a new deal here, or play a part in that promotion and earn a new deal somewhere else.
But that’s me always looking for the positive in a situation. I would hope we’d be looking to extend some of the expiring deals (Sibley, Wildsmith, Thompson, maybe Collins and Gayle too) but I don’t know if those players would want to extend either, maybe all parties are happy to wait and see where we are.

Or the lure of career progression in the form of a lucrative contract in the German top flight with a colleague he had an established working relationship with?

    Here’s a website with the stats from the game on Saturday as you possibly don’t remember the details;
    https://www.sportinglife.com/football/live/163100/derby-county-vs-bolton-wanderers/stats
They had 6 shots, 3 on target. We had 10 shots, 3 on target.
It says both sides created and missed 1 big chance each.
They had 2 shots off target, we had 4.
They had 1 blocked shot, we had 3.
Our xG for the game was 0.55 theirs was 0.43.
Both teams had 6 corners each.
Now, the big and most important stat, we scored a goal, they didn’t.
We know you don’t like/rate Warne, it’s possible for you to still have that stance and also admit the reality that he got a decent result against a promotion rival, all the evidence is there if you find just the tiniest bit of humility.

My REASONS for not being able to go to Pride Park regularly would remain if we had a trip to Wembley but are potentially easier to mitigate given the nature of such an occasion 😉
I wouldn’t however begrudge someone who has been able to attend more frequently than myself a higher priority, it’s sort of common sense to me in that way.
I guess what I’m saying is, I agree with the sentiment and am hurt by the use of the word “excuses” 🤣

Until last night I thought him a defensive barndoor but he’s clearly on a wavelength with Dwight and so also a rangey passer with 2 exquisite passes to set up goal-scoring openings. Would definitely cut it at Championship level and hope he comes permanently for next season. He clearly loves it here and that counts for a lot. Get him signed.

Have noticed we have played a few balls more directly to Gayle than we did with Collo
Gayle has given us this option  like for the through ball where he was brought down , if you look you see Gayle point before arcing his run in between two centre backs and was eventually brought down
Also the through ball or long ball from Ebou where he wins a penalty is no fluke because he's literally telling who ever has the ball , I'm going to make that run and it gives defenders a question to answer , do they go with him or let him go hoping he may have mistimed his run
I really like Collo but I think without Gayle we don't  score those 2 goals on Tuesday because he has given us something very different
Also has a really good spring for balls in the air, if me I'd be looking to sign him up for next season already whatever division we are in

This game is very important , lose it and it puts a lot more pressure onto Saturdays game , win it and go for it keeping momentum and carry that into Saturday  and then if we beat Bolton  a potential cushion is created with then only 7 games to go
was great to hear Barks saying that we went for it against Rovers and I think that mentality is exactly how we should be going into every game now until the seasons end .....then second or even first place is a real possibility

Something we seem utterly incapable of at the moment.
Hindsight's a wonderful thing, but even before the kick-off last night, both my son and I were staggered at the lineup, given the attacking talent we had on the bench. This, for a home fixture against a team at the wrong end of the table with a dreadful winless streak.
Neither of us is given to irrational knee-jerk reactions, being intelligent and level-headed men, but both of us have concluded that a change has to take place.  We know it won't be this season, so we'll suck it up and support the players, but we need to have a change at the helm in the Summer - whatever division we are in (League 1, most likely).  As others have said, attendance will continue to slide and this will impact revenues, given the turgid, lackluster and unexciting fayre being served.  Something is clearly not working, given the talent on paper at PW's disposal.  This group of players simply can't be so bereft of ideas; it must be down to how they are being coached to play the games. This league is a dire standard and whilst yes, we are still 2nd, I don't think that's because of our superiority, but rather the failings of others.
For the first time in my 60+ years of following this great club, I have never felt this despondent.  We will only get so many 'get out of jail' cards dealt and we must be near the end of them now.  We shouldn't have to rely on luck, but that's the only hope left right now for me.  If we do manage to limp out of this League, we'll face an even bigger challenge without some material change!

Makes no sense to sack PW now with the league position and number of games left, but whatever the outcome of the season I wouldn't want him here for the next one - if we don't go up he would deserve the sack and if we do he'd be of zero use in the Championship.

Yes I am optimistic - its a joke in our family that I am always positive about us. I still think we will somehow go up in autos for example. I really like him. I smile at some of his interviews. He seems a nice bloke. I think he cares. He does seem to have a bond with the squad (at times!). Clowes obviously likes him. I'm sure he's good to have around after the misery of admin.
There was a time when Warne ball did seem to be working finally for parts of matches at least. But recently its grim on the pitch. You can excuse him somewhat with injuries. But I would rather we try and play positively and lose than that last night and lose.
I think DC my forever hero by the way should look at the structure and personnel around the club. Ive said we're unlucky with injuries but who sanctioned the signing of so many injury prone or recovering players? How rigorous are our medicals? Who has the final say? Surely someone should say no at times? When other teams sign people they just seem to go in and play.  I know we are strapped who we can sign financially but prob not even that compared to dome in league.  I would have preferred some promising young lower league or even non- league players mixed in with the experience we had. I still expect CBT to work out for us but the situation seems odd on his signing.
Then there is the constant chopping snd changes of players and where and how they are expected to play - one minute flavour of week and next not in matchday squad.
I could go on and on

This is my biggest bugbear about Warne's management.  He can't resist the urge to tinker every game.
Pick a settled formation - and play it.
Pick a settled team and subject to injuries, play it. When you need to, substitute like for like.
And don't just take off your midfield and throw all your forwards on when you're chasing a win.
The players look lost at times. Sometimes they are playing two or three formations/positions in the same game. Their instinct and trust for linking play are completely nullified in that situation.

What I find hard is the separation from how fans interpret the football we play, to what happens week after week and seemingly no change from the management team. Common themes are playing it on the floor, putting passes together, not being over reliant on crossing the ball as a method of attacking etc.
Difficult for them not wanting to be banned, but I can't recall any journalist asking PW about this.
There were periods of the game last night when I thought that if someone didn't know the rules of football, they would think a team gets penalised for controlling the ball and passing it on the grass. It felt as if I was watching a football beach volleyball session where the ball mustn't hit the deck.
Surely it must be our players are being told to play in this way. I don't see any post match calling out from PW of our style of play unless it is not being 'aggressive' enough.
Teams can play there way out of this league ie Plymouth and Ipswich last season in particular, and on paper you'd think our players should be able to do this, but it seems that our quality players are being told to play like non league scrappers and it isn't working.
