sonofmidnight got a reaction from Alph in Women's Euro 2022
England's women have shown England's men how it should be done.

If the women were paid as much as the men, the womens game would be bankrupt, there just isn’t that much money in it, yet.
there may well be in the future. Women have whatever the opposite of a head start is, that is unfair, historically, it has all been unfair. But it is getting better, and the gap is closing. But it all depends on what people are prepared to pay to watch.
it is disgusting how much the men get paid. Maybe someone the money from the mens game should be filtered into the womens game. I believe that happens to a certain extent, but maybe not enough. Or maybe the womens game should stand on its own two feet. If it needs to be subsidised to be sustainable, then it’s not sustainable.

Can we please not be so negative about individual players. I think we need to trust Liam, as our acting manager, to decide who makes the squad.

But they are paid a fraction of what the men get! In what other work place would this be allowed.

Ironic really, the only ones with any loyalty whatsoever are the fans and that have absolutely no say in what goes on. I keep asking that's it I'm finished with football but this is the 3rd time I've checked this page today.

Doesn't make it acceptable just because people throughout history have exploited other people. Personally I don't want Ashley and if he owns the club I will not got to matches. Just my own little stand against a man whose business model I don't like. I left DW sports when he took it over. Sometimes you have to make a stand. I didn't go to matches when Robert Maxwell owned the club either. If other people support him that's fine, that's their choice.

I am certainly not so uneducated to compare Mike Ashley's business model to slavery. That is just ridiculous but he has a history of exploiting people and although conditions did improve for a while recent reports have suggested a sliding back in the way the work force are treated. As to your final point perhaps people who are employed by people like Mike Ashley are unable to find another job. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to pick and choose what work they do.

sonofmidnight got a reaction from Kathcairns in The future of derby county looks bright again
As a 13 year old on the pop side in 1967 it didn't enter my head that Derby would go on to be as successful as they were . It was all rather mind blowing and surreal.Yes times are so very different now and teams going from old 4th division to first in successive seasons, like Northampton did are but a very distant memory but every now and then something amazing happens. It's highly unlikely Rooney will achieve what BC and DM achieved with Derby but you never know!
