It does really show what the public think of labour if indeed Boris does get in. I agree he doesn’t come across as the good PM material, which says a lot for the alternatives if he is considered the best.

Right, it’s match day so I’m turning off my colour telly and leaving the thread for a couple of days. I’m off the match thread .. it’s all black and white there.

I’m not sure what people’s expectations are of the NHS, it seems that if you even dare to look outside the box to improve the system then you get criticised immediately.

Is the current system sustainable, population is growing, people are living longer and therefore the cost of running it is going to dramatically rise year on year. Ideas floated around are to reduce working hours, increase salary bands, extra beds etc....all of which will require considerable funding.

Are all of the promises made ever going to be implemented, for me the system is not perfect but is no way near as bad as is being made out. No matter what service it provides there will always be bad examples found of how it operates and it seems the only way that we are allowed to discuss improving it, is by increasing taxes, I say that we will still be discussing the same issues at the next election whoever is in charge.

A lot of things, that’s like saying what’s stopping someone who earns minimum wage from getting a higher paid job.

I lived in a time that was impacted and still is by terrorism, as one of his own party implied today, the man is a threat to national security, so why would I want to vote for someone like that ?

But it’s a percentage, the higher earners would still be paying more overall to the pot.
It’s not an option because by penalising the 5% you are not alienating the majority of the voters.
And you trust Labour, or is it just that you have always been brought up to vote that side ?

You could have one person earning £85k per year paying approx £26k in tax but a couple whose combined income = £85k potentially pay £12k in tax.

No Rowett ball was based upon players that he had brought in to play that style of play. Cocu is trying to stop us being so easy to beat, big difference.

You’re getting a bit of criticism but you’re right, I really hope people aren’t expecting free flowing attacking football like a McClaren team eventually just because Cocu’s Dutch and more importantly I hope Mel wasn’t fooled into thinking this! If he has then maybe it is best if we get rid because we’d be wasting even more unnecessary time on a manager whose philosophy doesn’t match that of many fans- Rowett, Pearson and Clement got criticism for the poor quality of football.

Cocu’s been like this his whole career, he’s not an Erik Ten Haag who’s first thought is to attack no matter what, Cocu’s first thought is to be defensively solid by using the ball, he won’t change at this point as a manager. Even at psv when they were winning against the worst teams in the league, he had a reputation for bringing on defenders for the attackers instead of going for the jugular. He’s a pragmatist first and foremost. The answer to the poll depends on what you wanna see, wanna see attacking football? Cocu isn’t the man and won’t ever be that man, no matter how much time he’s given. Wanna see a solid, structured team in time? Cocu may be that man in a few years. I don’t agree with the Rowett comparisons, Rowett was a long ball merchant whereas Cocu tries to restrict opposition by using the ball to sustain possession

Any decent manager will study the opposition and look to exploit weaknesses and stop their strengths. Teams do it to us all the time, early crosses and pressing certain players.
For me this is not the problem, our core of players are weak, we have no pace, no creative players and a defence that belongs to a bottom half team.

Where is roseinor (is that how you spell it) in all of this. He was hailed by some, mentioning no names, as as astute signing. What has he brought to the club ?
Our squad is dire, Davies and Forsyth are a bottom half pairing, we don’t have a winger, not one. Our keeper selection is poor to say the least, we haven’t got a creative midfielder, and we have no pace in the side. Injuries haven’t helped, but for me the problem as I said at the start of the season is the recruitment, a shocking window.

No surprise that we are struggling, although Cocu has to take some of the blame, we haven’t got a side that plays with any backbone, we are soft and easy to beat. Unless he changes that, we haven’t got a hope.
