There’s definite irony in calling someone else out to be constructive when you started several threads yesterday of a similar sentiment and only this one survived. There’s also an odd gloating tone to this post as if you’re revelling in the current situation.

Currently any constructive posts are being dismissed by many. If I post that Warne has experience of getting out of this league and should be given time, people will counter that. If I say the players need time to gel and get used to the formation, people will say otherwise. If I say the window is still open and we are still actively recruiting, people will say we should have done all our business by now. If I point out that we needed to recruit fullbacks/wingbacks and centre backs having none on the books last season and only Cashin/Forsyth left in the summer AS WELL as replacing Knight and McGoldrick people will only point to Knight and McGoldrick. If I point out we now have 3 senior strikers on the books when last season it was only two, people will criticise their age and that they’re not David McGoldrick that handsome, skilful magician.
There are obvious and valid concerns with how we’ve started the season. Warne and his staff need to earn their bread and quick. Let’s not pretend all posters are receptive to that prospect as some very plainly don’t want Warne as manager and are quite keen to see the wheels come off. Others are still willing to give it time, and some sit in the middle unsure 🫤. I think you’ve made it clear on your own particular stance so what’s the point of asking for any consideration or constructive discussion?

One of my irritations with football is the fans who give all sorts of horrific abuse to players but get all "I'm so hurt and offended the this player who got appalling things shouted at him as said he doesn't like the group of people who just did that"

Of those 161 goals, 74 were for St Ives Town - his professional record is 87 goals in 391 games. You are of course correct about McGoldrick's modest goal tally before last season.
I believe Washington's value will be in the hard work he does to win the ball back, holding the ball up in the final 3rd & stretching the play with his pace. Suspect his arrival will get the best out of Collins, who was isolated at times last season & will also present opportunities for Mendez-Laing & Barkhuizen to feed off. Blend in a team is more important than the relative ability of individual players & I believe like one or two other maligned past players, he will prove a fair few wrong with his overall impact.

Some clearly don’t like Warne …no matter what …I’d hate to be sat anywhere near them though at a game …it’s bordering on a kind of hatred and I find that difficult to comprehend at times …
would you rather have someone managing our club who’s closed and unfriendly? How many managers would go and watch a player who’s left the club for his boyhood club? He’s a decent man even if he’s not a success he’s a decent bloke
I thought Cocu was treated poorly by some fans and was embarrassing to hear at times …Cocu was a gentleman and our first ever foreign coach but some couldn’t wait to kick him like they enjoy it but when he left he left with dignity and didn’t seek big compensation nor did his team of coaches
let’s give Warne a chance at least without looking into every angle and seeing a negative ffs

You say let’s wait and see, yet you seem unwilling to do so yourself by making statements about Warne’s approach to recruiting, before you’ve even seen the calibre of player. You could of course be prove correct, but there’s no evidence yet either way 🤷🏻‍♂️
McGoldrick left for his own reasons, he has stated that, Warne has stated that, his new club have stated that. It seems very clear from all parties involved that despite Derby and Warne’s efforts to convince him to stay, McGoldrick took his own decision to play for his boyhood club, what is it about that you think Warne could have changed?
In your opinion Warne has got it backwards, and in his opinion he wants players willing to be part of a cohesive unit that can also play the style of football he wants. NOWHERE has he said he won’t recruit good footballers, he’s said they need to be both good footballers AND good people.
There are countless examples of talented footballers through the years, arguably more talented than anyone else they’ve played with, whose attitudes stank their clubs out. We had a very famous example on our books a couple of season back. I would rather have a group of solid, capable players motivated to play for the shirt and the fans week in week out than the likes of Ravel Morrison, or an Adel Taraabt who have all the talent and a stinking attitude towards the team. Ravel looked like perhaps he’d finally found a home here and was going to finally disprove all that had gone before regarding his attitude….then he didn’t, and at the first opportunity he jumped ship. One bad apple and all that….
Again, I’m looking past who Warne is and focused on what he’s saying. You don’t like the bloke, cause he wears a hat, or makes bad jokes, or came from a small club, or whatever the reason. What he’s currently saying makes some sense, recruit good players who can represent this club in front of a big crowd and work hard for one another in order to bring success. What is it about that you don’t like?

That’s IF we were even interested in signing him. You simply can’t take newspaper and social media speculation as being fact at this time of year. Unless of course it fits a pre-conceived agenda about our manager and recruitment.
Since the change of ownership there’s very little news that gets out about the club before any official announcements, the academy management changes recently all came via the clubs official site, no other news outlet. The loan signings in January weren’t reported until they pretty much happened. Jon Percy used to run lots of stories about us, very rarely does anymore, it seems to me that there aren’t any internal leaks when it comes to news and as annoying as that is during silly season for us fans I think I prefer it.

All sounds a bit suspicious if you ask me.
I bet if he joined Lincoln he would tell them he’s a Notts County fan as well, would never trust a man that consistently tells people he’s a Notts County fan. Clearly a Forest fan on the wind up.

Doesn't this present a certain Louie Sibley with a huge opportunity? All the conversation will be around how Didzy and his goals are replaced and that's understandable, but while I've criticised his inconsistency, I don't think Louie is a million miles off and given an extended run in that role, could he yet fulfil the immense promise of his academy years? I do think it's been hard for the lad, as he was never going to shift Didzy from the starting line-up, but I do think the Didzy role is most probably his optimal. Maybe, just maybe, the solution to the problem is already on the playing roster? Things you'd love to see...
As it stands, I'm Pretty sure Warne said he wanted more 9's and 10's (note plurals) even before the Didzy to Notts County chirping began, so we'll be seeing a few in anyway. There's some interesting names being bandied about and with the noose slackened the benign body that is the EFL, I'd be confident we can attract a good blend of players of the requisite quality and character. It's a test for the new faces in recruitment, but their track record is good, we know from Warne that they've been scouting and analysing prospects for months.
A challenge then, but hardly insurmountable.

Thanks for posting @Carnero.  About 4:30 in.  When asked why he’s returned he starts with “it’s the team I support”.  At his age he cant guarantee playing for another 2 years, even though that’s the length of contract he’s signed.  Could easily pick up a career ending injury at any time.  And then he’d regret not making the move.
This is no reflection on DCFC, Paul Warne, L1 v L2 or any other nonsense.  If anything it shows the measure of the man.  Heart over money and that should be respected.  Fair play to him.

Plymouth won the league with more points than we’ve ever managed in our history. Their top two scorers got 13 goals & 12 goals respectively. For reference, James Collins got 11.
We simply don’t need to have a 25 goal striker to get promoted. Spreading the goals around more will do just fine, and it would be better to not be so reliant on one individual.
Ipswich had 2 of the top 8 goal scorers this season, but in the other 6 scorers, none got promoted. It actually indicates more that relying on one player to score the majority of your goals is more of an indicator of failure rather than success.

I genuinely don't understand why I've just seen "League two is a bigger pull than Warne"
It's not league two. It's Notts County. It's his club. He wants to retire there. Fair play. Could have stayed here for more money. He's literally just said himself that no other club he would have gone for.
Internally they would have known about this for ages. I would imagine that Mcgoldrick has said "Look if Notts go up there's a chance I could go back there and I'd want to"
I wish him nothing but the best. Was unbelievable for us last season and without him we'd have been nowhere.
But that was the season of his life and we cannot be relying on him to do that again. We need 3-4 strikers chipping in with 8-15 goals each. We need wide players chipping in with 5-10.
It's not just about replacing Mcgoldricks goals with an individual it needs to be spread.
Other than Hourihane and NML. Goals from other areas of the team were pitiful.
But fans using this as a stick to beat Warne or the club with are a joke.

Took a bit of time out to gather myself, have a bath, listen back to Radio Derby and get a glass of my special occasion drink (White Peak Distillery cask rum, summit local). I hope everyone is having whatever it is they want to drink.
Can’t really add anything that hasn’t already been said. All my thanks for everyone’s efforts last season. From Rooney and Rosenior, the players and staff who kept the club going in the darkest days. You can all hold your head high for what you did.
The fans who did everything they could, from filling the stadium to organising marches etc etc. Also the supporters groups who tried to get answers.
The journalists who kept us informed as much as they could, this was a mess from start to finish and was impossible to report accurately on. Many lessons will be learnt but we should appreciate all their efforts from Nixon, Percy, @The Baron,Simon Stone and everyone else I’m forgetting about. Colin Murray, Dan Roan and the national journalists who gave #savederbycounty national coverage.
Special mention to Ed Dawes and Radio Derby, who has lived this far longer than any of us realise because Morris was in his ear with his mess 2-3 years ago. He didn’t get it right all the time, I’m sure he can admit that, but he stood up when it mattered and deserves a pat on the back from Derby fans. Also let’s not forget Chris Coles who after so much crap Derby related news deserves his little moment tonight too!
Team Derby! Forkin, the council and the MPs who helped keep this in the spotlight and did a lot of background work. They have helped create a huge positive day for the city.
Thanks to @David, @Boycieand all the moderators on the forum for all their work and giving us the platform. Special mention to @Animal is a Ram for giving us ‘up to the second’ updates (and all those who sought to beat him, yes you @RoyMac5). Thanks everyone for the laughs in here, at some of the most frustrating times they were some genuinely funny days in here that made everything a bit easier.
Finally, thankyou Mr Clowes. I hope despite inital reluctance this ends up being the best decision you ever make. I hope as fans we respect your privacy, but only after hearing your name being rang out by a sell out crowd on July 30th.
I’ve probably forgotten someone, despite going on worst than one of those popmaster contestants who won’t shut up and go away, but I’m tired and wanna finish my drink and read transfer rumours like a normal football fan, so apologies to anyone who is forgetten.
Have a great night everyone, it’s much deserved

I went to the shop shortly after the announcement to grab some 'celebration juice' for tonight and met a guy in a Derby shirt holding a 4 pack of Bud and asked him if he was celebrating as well.
    'Celebrating what?'
    'Takeovers done mate'
    'Seriously?'
    'Yeah, just been announced'
He then puts the 4 cans back on the shelf and picks up a box of 24 ?

I didn't realise how much this was affecting me. I was convinced I wasn't that bothered. I've lost my grandmother last week and have other issues and thought there were more important things in life.
I'm not too ashamed or masculine to admit that after reading those Clowes press release snippets on Twitter, I realised my eyes had welled-up a little and I have let out a massive sigh. I now want to have a celebratory drink and put this nightmare behind me.
I am however realistic enough to know that the football side could well be a struggle for a few years, and I have no expectations, but to know that my home-city club, a club I followed home and away for most of my adult life, a club that I committed thousands of pounds to over the years, a club that has made me laugh, smile, groan and sob, will continue to exist means a lot to me personally.
    Cheers boys and girls.

Interesting people talking about possible link ups. Clowes was definitely in with Appleby a couple of weeks ago. Would make a lot of sense to utilise AAs sports network. The person who suggested bringing in Gary Cook as CEO is a good shout. He could have his own ideas.

Short term - we must keep Rooney and as much of last seasons squad as possible, this will give us our best chance of a quick return to the championship. We must give Rooney some headroom to get some players in, we’ve already missed out on our no 1 targets. Hopefully we can use the loan system to good effect. We need the right mix of energy, exuberance, talent and experience. We won’t have much of a budget so focus has to be low cost short termism to be competitive, no committing to long deals unless it makes sense.
Medium Term - Sort out the club mess, the structure etc. Recruitment needs an overhaul and if we are to ever get back to the premier league we’ve got to box clever when it comes to recruitment. Smart signings with resale value, good academy signings (we’ve been quite good here) and continue to keep the academy at the forefront for our development, this is probably even more important now given we won’t be making record signings until we are in the Premier League again, which let’s face it could be a long way off.
Hopefully this chastening experience has reset expectations amongst fan base and made people realise what’s important. It certainly has for me. It’s not chasing to be in a Premier League which all becomes about the big 6 and you are irrelevant, it’s about being Derby and proud to be Derby and enjoying the success and rolling with the punches in more depressing times.

A huge positive is this is probably the lowest point in our history, not much lower we can go therefore we’re going to see some success in the next few years, maybe even a successful Wembley final or two!! Can’t wait.

Quick bit of research yields the following:
The combined cash at bank value for all businesses where DAVID CLOWES holds a current appointment equals £30m, a combined total current assets value of £536m with a total current liabilities of £137m and a total current net worth of £346m. My guess would be that while David is the front man, the new owners will effectively be the Clowes family as a whole.
For those already worrying that he / they have insufficient net worth to run a club like Derby, consider the relative wealth of Brentford owner Matthew Benham, a tiny fraction of the Clowes fortune. Consider too that Benham had to borrow £700k to fund the majority shareholding he took when he bought Brentford in 2012. Like Clowes, Benham too, is a lifelong fan of the club he has now established in the Premiership. Not all 'fan-owners' then are of Morris' ilk, so let's be balanced in our thinking. Some may say Benham is an outlier and an anomaly but the facts do not bear out this opinion. My view is rather that he simply adopted a model by which even clubs with modest fan bases can operate without losses AND enjoy success. For interest's sake, some net worth figures for a few Premiership club owners, correct as of 10/2021:
    Brentford – Matthew Benham (£3m)
Norwich - Delia Smith and Michael Wynn-Jones (£23m)
    Burnley – Mike Garlick (£62m)
    Watford – Gino Pozzo (£93m)
    Leeds – Andrea Radrizzani (£344m)
If Clowes is successful in his bid, then let's then give the man a chance to show that he intends to run the club in the way it could and should be run. There is absolutely no reason that DCFC can not break even within a few years and then turn a profit from then on. Look at the 30K +++ crowds that turned up towards the end of a post-Covid season with the team nigh on certain to be relegated. There are few clubs in the entire league that would top those numbers and the willingness of the fans to get behind the club, aligned to a measured and analytical approach to recruitment, can prove to be the cornerstones upon which a resurgent Derby County can be built. Our support was the absolute envy of the League last season, despite 3 years of ever gathering gloom and ill conceived hostility from outsiders who chose to hate before they thought. Let's not forget that. Equally, let's be respectful to and supportive of the players who ran through walls for us, even those who now choose move to pastures new. We should be, and I believe most are, grateful for what was a herculean effort from a team where a good few were earning a fraction of the wages they could command elsewhere and all played week in, week out under immense levels of pressure and uncertainty. They gave us all they had and IMO, they now owe us nothing.
Let's also look out for each other; I've tried to remain calm and upbeat throughout the last couple of years as have most, but the strain of the last few months has understandably stretched nerves to breaking point. A lot of us have expressed anger and lashed out and I'm one of them, but the truth is that lashing out at those around the process, or worse still, at other fans, serves literally no purpose. I should know better.
As we now look to the future then, akin to most fans, I suspect, I remain concerned that this may prove yet another false dawn, but this does have a rather different feel about it. We will know by this time next week whether the deal has legs, at which point we can hopefully once again begin to dream about a more positive future for the club, the fans and the wider community. In essence, the healing process can begin. Of course I am hugely biased in my view, but it's something I strongly believe; there is something quite unique and special about this club of ours, even in the darkest of times. They say that it's always darkest before the dawn and I'm sure I can see some narrow slithers of light ahead and this for the first time in several years. Perhaps a bright and beautiful new dawn will follow, perhaps something less than that, but let's try to be present, upbeat and supportive and not simply look to others. We have a huge role to play if we choose to accept it and these next few years could be some of the best in long while if we temper our expectations and rediscover the unity and passion we showed when times were hardest.
