sunnyhill60 got a reaction from RoyMac5 in Cocu and the youth: a great success story
I think the omission by the poster  of Lowe and Bogle was because they had clocked many starts before Cocu. Lowe had appearances 3 years ago before going on a valuable loan.
You also misrepresent previous managers. The first consideration is can the academy players do a good job and it it is only recently the numbers of them that can do so has increased. Elsnik was hyped by people watching him in the U23s  but never made it, was that a mistake? Rowett gave Bennett and Hanson plenty of chances.
Which players were held back by not being given a chance by Clement, MacClaren and Rowett?

What a sad comment, but not rare on this forum. At this point if you haven't anything good to say just STFU
After his first start his class was obvious, and we saw it for the rest of the season. So many rubbished our chances of signing him permanently, but we did and mainly because he was so keen to join us. He had great technical ability and a brain to match, but we were robbed of the chance to witness much of it after the pre-season injury. He was never the same again and having a career to match his ability was never going to happen.

That sums things up for me. We have seen Tom can be a match winner, do things few in our squad can do -but not often enough

I think it's more frustration of knowing how good he can be that comes out.
I'm pretty sure if someone with the time and know how looked into his stats he probably does the work, but people only remember the wrong decision or the scowl he makes.
He could be as good for us as Tom Ince was, but he isn't. I think some fans look at the body language and decide he's not as good as tom ince because he isn't trying (which I don't actually think is the case)

The agent gobbing off is what's annoyed me. In general they're speaking out more & giving opinions that aren't wanted. Keoghs agent on talksport. This bloke speaking out, sky interviewing agents from prem clubs
His agent saying it was needless to play. Alright mate you're not the coach 🤷‍♂️ the staff will do what they think is right for each player.
Im not that bothered he's out. He's been pretty disappointing for the price tag

sunnyhill60 got a reaction from RoyMac5 in Mason Bennett “close” to signing new contract
You need to look a bit more closely at what he has actually achieved. He has won us a few points but his goals per appearance stats are dire, striker he is not. He has been around for a long time and yet with Derby or out on various loans he has never delivered on a consistent basis whether through injury or crapness. That he is regarded as worth a future contract is a statement of very limited ambition. Contrast his stats with Tom Lawrence, who gets so much stick.

    Joke of a decision.
Why are we offering new contracts to a player who is at very best league one level?
    Just let him go.

No, because Huddlestone was only just returning from injury, and Martin should be the first name on the team sheet every week anyhow ..

There is a worryingly consistent pattern this season that is mostly apparent away from home. We just don’t perform in the first half; we are too deep and seem bereft of idea, shape and fight. The only thing I can think of is that it is rooted in how the team is set up and the “mindset” of the players going out onto the pitch.  Surely it’s the responsibility of the coaching staff to address that? Yet it keeps happening! Is it to do with team selection? How would I feel if I was Andre Wisdom? How would I feel if I was Chris Martin? I think I’d feel bewildered and disappointed. I think it’s basic human nature to want to be rewarded for good performances. I think that tinkering with team selection does not build consistency and I think it detracts from morale. Tactically, we invite teams and only want to react once we’re up against it. Boro should have been out of sight by half-time yesterday. They say the definition of madness is to keep doing the same thing and expecting things to change...

    Fake news!
Clough gave Will Hughes every chance! Hendrick wasn't exactly held back and others got chances only to be proved not up to it.
Bennett and Hanson had plenty of chances under McClaren and Rowett, as did Lowe
An alternative explanation is that the Academy has improved markedly in the past 2 or 3 years and is now capable of developing players in numbers that can succeed when given the chance

Of course I never said that, I put in bold the bit I was responding to - the notion from the poster that Rooney was the best player the country has ever seen.
In the Derby County story Rooney is so far a footnote at the bottom of a page, Mackay is a colossus, but as I posted I hope he will prove to be a massive success.

Completely agree...I was lucky enough to see all Dave's games playing for Derby. He won the double with the fantastic Spurs "push and run" team. The impact and presence he had was incredible.Ive seen him voted into ex pros all time WORLD eleven. The arrival of Mr Rooney the other night was low key by comparison. If he has a quarter of the impact he'll be doing fantastic.

He had a lot of appearances for England but wasn't close to being our most prolific scorer. Just check Steve Bloomer and Harry Kane. As for best player we have ever seen, there have been far too many mediocre efforts for that. As for Mackay not playing for Scotland whilst with us, neither will Wayne fin Rooney play for England.
He has played two games for us and that's all, lets just wait a while before putting him on as a high a pedestal as someone like Dave Mackay.
So far he has done everything right and I have as high hopes as everyone  else he will deliver the goods.

Delaying or non-payment of wages is not a trivial matter. An administrative mess up is the most charitable explanation, if the delay has actually happened.
The possible imminent injection of funds into the club should have no impact such basic processes of the business.
Perhaps Morris will be as keen to share his thoughts on Radio Derby as he was last Monday on other matters.
