sage reacted to Ram-Alf in The coronabrexit thread. I mean, coronavirus thread
I got talking to a Woman on a dating site last year, We sorted our 1st date, She is/was from Stoke, Fine looking Woman, Trouble was she thought Covid-19 was started by 5G towers, I told her my Mother passed away from Covid and never been near a 5G tower, She then told me to complain to the Government as her death certificate was false.
The conversation was soon ended as I then realised why she was single...oh and from Stoke!

I wasn’t criticizing your grammar or spelling. That’s not important. I was saying your entire first paragraph was just a bunch of words with no context or meaning. I couldn’t understand it (not because of grammar or spelling) but because to me it just made no sense.
I’m all for being open and having opinions, but you have to provide a reason behind those. You can’t just say ‘follow the money’ suggesting this is some kind of scheme by some to get rich without any context at all.
I consider myself quite opinionated. People may hate that. But at least I try to explain my opinion, whether right or wrong.
I don’t just throw controversial comments out there without context.

I kind of understand why people are hopping onboard with silver-tongued Kirchner.
I'm personally not sold to him, his enthusiastic approach is so... don't know... American? I've got nothing against him, but engaging a lot at this point makes him look overconfident and bit naïve.
I trust the administrators to pick the best of the bunch, if it's Kirchner then he gets my support.

Why would he be better?

A man recently died after a wall mounted periodic table display fell on him.
The official cause of death was given as COVID, but really he only suffered a sudden exposure to the Elements.

Based on your recommendation last year, I ordered myself a case this year - and cracked open the first one to get me through the final 20 minutes of the Fulham game. I can honestly sat it's the most "stouty" stout I have ever had ... glorious stuff indeed !
Cheers

Kirchner will likely have the least liquid funds, least footballing links and least knowledge of the current bidders from the information we have so far.
It's likely he realises this and wants to hammer a deal through before the other parties step up their interest (if at all). If you get the likes of Appleby/Rush/Moxey etc getting serious their links to existing footballing infrastructure will be more valuable than any money can add.

You know how it is...
You come home from war... your thoughts, nightmares, mental torture, and guilt over not keeping your mate alive, despite them only being feet apart when the Afghan sniper hit... all firmly bottled away for 4 years in an army issue camo travel-flask... before finally coming clean (read "failed to hide it any longer"!) to your superiors, army doctors, shrinks, and... eventually... family!
A further 5 years pass by (on Civvy Street) with mainly ineffective help, advice and treatment (not for the lack of trying!), whilst the meds, the waking nightmares, the endless sleepless nights, the guilt, and the suicidal tendencies continue apace... until finally, along comes a seemingly successful (fingers crossed!) bout of EMDR therapies, slowly but surely making for a massive upturn in all things mood related. (Still early days, mind! Taking nothing for granted, here!)
And then... with almost perfect timing... the chance of a new start. A new focus. A new purpose in life.
As of this very morning... confirmed!
Some folk... particularly parents, I would imagine... may see the fact that their son is about to head off clearing the planet of landmines (starting with 6 months in Cambodia in the new year) as a bit of a bummer!
But with what we have all been through for the last five years (Plus the secret four, for him!) and with the smile finally back on his face, and a renewed zest for the future, I'm putting today down as being one of the best... despite the natural parental trepidation... because quite simply, it's what he wants... what he needs... and what he deserves.
Just need to get through this coming Sunday, as we'll be with him when he heads homeward from his Cornish Hideaway, and goes for a long awaited* chat and a catch-up with the aforementioned mate's name-on-the-Camp Bastion Wall, at The National Memorial Arboretum, then it really is time to move onwards, upwards, and forwards!
(*It was an annual thing, until Covid scuppered last year's visit)
I may delete this any time soon... for obvious reasons... but right now, with tears in my eyes... I just want to scream out in unashamed relief!
I think he... and we... might just have turned a very long, slow corner. Who knows... we may even have made it out through the other side!
Good day? Hell yeah!
For The Fallen.
For Matt.
And for those still with us.

Untested? I was not aware of this. I can't believe they haven't tested it.

I genuinely have no idea what you are talking about.
The whole personal choice/libertarian thing doesn't work with masks, because it's to protect others not yourself. It only works if everyone does the right thing.

?
I have been wearing masks in shops and on public transport. I can't control or influence other people's behaviour, that is for the government. Therefore, I will blame them when they make poo decisions like this one.

Anyone get the feeling that the govt realised they had cocked up with masks no longer being compulsory in shops, trains and buses and were waiting for a development to change policy without admitting they were wrong.

Got told in middle of cop 26 got to return to head office instead of home working.
I Argued that my carbon footprint is 100 miles a day when I can easily work from home also it was madness to return to work at start of the flu season when it will be also the start of the new covid season.
Went to my GP last week got to have a review of my medication, on the door it said please still wear a mask if you can which I duly obliged. Out of 15 people only 2 people wore a mask.
No doubt the 13 people who cannot be bothered will be the first to complain when the GP surgery is shut again.
