Turnstile reacted to JuanFloEvraTheCocu'sNesta in Paul Warne
Our budget will be absolute peanuts compared to the 6-7 clubs on parachute payments and the others that are more stable than us. Clowes is a hero, but he's not got top end Championship cash and that's the harsh reality of our situation. I'm not having a dig, it's just the way it is.

Turnstile reacted to Lokidoki in v Charlton Athletic (H) Match Day Thread
Unfortunately, I am beginning to believe that on genuine evidence PW and his team are woefully inadequate. Tactically naive, they allow other managers and their coaching teams to take total advantage of any and every strategic tactical decision. I was never expecting Pep, but this is bettered on local playing fields by many a under 8's coach.
Basically it lets us down. Even if by fluke we get promoted, I am sorry that we cannot sustain this. I have never been anti Warne and Co but did note my reservations and concerns quite a while ago (these were quite obvious, so everyone else noted them) but no-one in the coaching team appears to learn.
I'm not a spring chicken having watched Derby For around 63 years and I 'm not saying I remember that much in my early years (but I have seen a lot of football, in my time) but an older guy said to me tonight, after the match; that the manager is just a PE teacher and his only answer is to get quicker, unfortunately, the technicians have caught up. This is 2024, this I am afraid is a cul-de-sac.

The ball control and passing are woeful at times. Do they just do set pieces in training?
And throw ins? Lost count of the times we threw to an unopposed Charlton player. Ludicrous.
I’m telling you, Sonny Bradley messes that team up. Take him out, let Cashin and Nelson do what they did so well. Play two proper full backs and have six players ahead of them who can create goals. It’s not rocket science.

He’s a PE teacher. His solutions will be to ‘run harder’ and ‘it’s not my fault if a defender makes a mistake’

Turnstile reacted to europia in Stephen Pearce on Radio Derby 6pm Tuesday
I genuinely respect your opinion, and as you suggest, an individuals perspective will be influenced by their thoughts on the way things operated during Mel Morris's tenure. However, the vast majority would agree, that the financial management was totally shambolic.
To the many people who've taken an interest, the whole thing with Pearce will seem odd. It's hard to imagine that someone so closely involved in what was without doubt, Derby County's darkest days, is actually still at the club. In most organisational changes (non football included) of the scale of what has taken place at DCFC, a top level restructuring would (at some point) see a wholesale clear out of the previous administration. Pearce still being at the club is strange enough, but to suggest that he can barely utter anything of relevance due to NDA's seems ridiculous and only fuels suspicions.
It seems only a close knit group of people are aware of the motivation behind keeping SP at the club. It should be remembered that the loyal supporters played a massive part in saving the club, ensuring that it was worthwhile Mr Clowes getting involved. If the fans had turned their back, there would be no DCFC. Makes one wonder, if Mr Pearce has ever considered that it would be better to walk away, rather than apparently being muted by NDA's, and tainted by associated with the previous administrations murky finances. That's probably the honourable thing to do, but perhaps not in the world we currently live in.

Turnstile reacted to Tombo in Stephen Pearce on Radio Derby 6pm Tuesday
I don't think he's a bad guy, I think he's just spineless. The interview just cemented that further.
If he didn't like what he was told to do, he could have stood up for himself and said no. And furthermore then leave with some professional reputation in tact. He had a good name for himself at one point, chosen as a Championship representative on the EFL board. He had a way out.
That's not even to mention integrity and morals.
Nobody forced him. One way or another, he messed up big time. He could at least fess up and apologise for not having the grapefruits to try to stop it happening.
Like most politicians, he has no understanding of the responsibility and gravity of his office

Turnstile reacted to enachops in Stephen Pearce on Radio Derby 6pm Tuesday
Oh come on. CEO and finance officer of a club going into admin. Of course he has some responsibility. Morris is the ultimate one of course, but Pearce constantly said we weren’t in danger of FFP. He was wrong.

Maybe so, but he's a qualified accountant and he didn't keep full records. Perhaps not guilty, but just not as competent as you might hope?

Turnstile reacted to S8TY in Eiran Cashin
Some good comments on this thread but comparing Paul McGrath to Cash is very extreme
PM was finished virtually as a player when he joined us in his mid to late thirties , never warmed up before a game and had his knees strapped up yet was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch most games
as much as I like Cash he will never be as good as PM I’m afraid played in a good Man U and Villa sides and world cups with Eire…different class

I do respect everyone's right to an opinion but I do feel that comparison is a tad OTT! If I was picking my all time Derby side ,having followed them since 1964, then my three central defenders would be Todd,Stimac and McFarland.I like Cashin's determination but Todd was light years ahead of him. However, each to their own.

Turnstile reacted to DavesaRam in Derby v Lincoln City
Not really. I hate unfairness, and have felt the same way about the other players I mentioned and said so. Some have benefitted from moves away, but others have not. It may be they had reached their limits, but fir some being constantly discouraged and thwarted can do their heads in - Lee Holmes, from what? 15 - 20 years ago is a case in point. He had enormous potential but was never realised. In a poor side that struggled to score when Holmes was brought on the game would be transformed, and suddenly chances would come. His reward? Dropped to the bench, or played out of position. It went on time after time after time and he eventually moved on out on loan to Walsall and Preston, both in lower leagues at the time I believe. But he never made it higher up. All the time there were players not producing the goods who kept getting picked regardless. Same old, same old.
What if ………………. ?

Turnstile reacted to Ghost of Clough in Will Clowes patience soon run out?
Championship clubs are always must follow P&S financial rules, which are rolling 3 year periods (4 years for periods containing the Covid seasons).
L1 and L2 clubs are under SCMP financial rules, which are in line with club accounting periods (single year only).
David Clowes' business plan. The details of which the EFL were happy with.

Turnstile reacted to trappatoni in Cool the anti-Clowes rhetoric
If the novice is Rosenior and the other Warne then Rosenior all day. Said it at the time and there's no point in going over old ground but the idea that appointing Warne was universally welcomed isn't true.
A lot of the questions that were raised then are still issues now.
- he likes to press high and outwork opponents but we had an older squad that isn't suited
- style of play isn't attractive so going to get less leeway from fans
- talked about % football and if you get enough crosses into an area you'll score goals
- we have a cat 1 academy - he doesn't have a record of bringing through youth
- if we do go up - which for dcfc you'd think then was almost certain in 3-4 years (less so now) what's his record like at a higher level

If you ignore the excessive player wages, the expensive merchandise tat, grubby gambling sponsorship, etc. it can just about be classified as sport ........ but most definitely not elite.

Not a fee to another club but a bigger signing on fee for themselves.
