Perhaps I am reading between the lines too much, but is this is implying that there will be an informal role at the club for the absolute crook that is Matt Southall?

The goalposts in your arguments shift around so many times I can't keep track.
Alright, we get it... We're all being terribly unfair to lil Wayne who after working hard for 26 games has managed to develop a style that nobody can identify, which is generating results that are underwhelming. All on top of some lingering suspicion that he maneouvured himself into the role rather than being actively sought out as a manager.
Yep, dreadful. Terribly unfair. So what?

Because people then could see things improving and now they don't.
Not that difficult to see why.

Well there's quite a lot of exclusives already, and a lot of claims being made that, on paper, sound very promising...
But let's hope he's not over-promising from the very start, relationships can go south very quickly by doing that.

    Errr yes we are.
He sounds a knowledgeable manager, he's attempting to put that into practice with a squad that would defy most managers ability and yet you think he's got an easy ride that he's messing up!

Yep....easily makes my top three managers since the Cox era. Alongside Jim smith and Burley, the fact that he was also part of the Smith success is another feather in his cap!

Like many others, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth have been constants throughout my life.
We often take for granted the stability of this country, feels like the monarchy is a big part of that.
Privileged yes, but Philip had very humble and unsettled beginnings and repaid the country that adopted him with a lifetime of service.
    RIP

I don't really understand the argument that adapting to our own style would cost us points but constantly re-adapting to beat the opposition won't? I understood the keep it tight philosophy when he immediately took over and we needed points badly but he's had plenty of time to stamp his mark on the team. If he had done so maybe we'd have taken more than 11 points from the last 12 games leading us back into significant peril of relegation.

Lack of plan B is a poor analysis of Mac 1, and it isn't why we fell away. We fell away because we got key injuries and couldn't maintain our level without the two most important positions being filled. A certain style of play if done well enough is all you need. I don't remember Leeds and Bielsa being fluid. Or Wolves with Nuno. Or Leicester with Nigel Pearson. I can keep going. In fact, I can't think of a team in this league that is good at multiple styles.

    Run the club sustainably.
If you invest in anything, make sure it's in smart recruitment.
Appoint a sporting/technical/whatever director to decide on a tactical approach and let him/her make all coaching appointments based on that approach.
Accept the fact that there are huge amounts of luck involved in football. Don't lose your head and rip things up.

    Where I’m at is basically
    1) I hope Mel is in good health.
    2) I hope this deal is beneficial to all parties, Mel, No Limits, Derby County and us fans.
I’m not going to get caught up in the circus of dragging up his old tweets, scraping Google for any mention of his name or reading into his political stances.
If the deal does go through and he takes over, I look forward to hearing his visions for the club and how we address the issues within the squad in the summer.
I would also like to wish him good luck, rather him than me.

Quite common in most clubs. The candidates all had suitable CV’s ... None of us were fundamentally opposed to any of the appointments at the time. We might have had a dislike of either Pearson’s 1970’s PE teacher mode or the razzmatazz of Lampard but they were all typical of football. We have had every variety with the exception of trying to recruit the sort of tough guy agricultural manager with a “proven record” (although Pearson might fit that bill) . where everyone would have moaned about the lack of ambition.
The transfer policy “errors” started with Bryson and Hughes being injured in the same match which lead to panic buying at inflated prices. At the time, these were seen as bold, supportive and positive moves. Your are eating hindsight by the KFC family bucket load.
The financial state of the club ? .. Mel filled it with money .. some spent well, some badly .. We haven’t had a fiscal mismanagement situation or anything “taken” from the club by Mel. We got in a mess on FFP and Mel coughed up by buying the stadium and paying the club money for it.
Sam Rush ? Is Mel really responsible for another man’s ethics ? ( or lack of them ? )
The fiasco ? .. Someone broke their pledges or didn’t meet their obligations .. it wasn’t Mel. Maybe Mel shouldn’t  have trusted them but good business and life is defined by trust. You have to start somewhere. Has anyone thought about Mel here ? He has obviously had some serious health issues yet he hasn’t flinched from being a DCFC man
yes, for sure, be sceptical or wary of new owners, we all are, we care about our club, but Mel has been a straight shooter from day one. Some of the things he’s done or wanted to do didn’t work out but he is trustworthy beyond doubt . Now maybe those he has trusted are sharks .. but that’s a different story.

I cannot believe how you have such a judgmental attitude to a guy who has given his best efforts and a shed load of money to this club. Your judgement is littered with an astounding lack of logical analysis.

A fair point, for sure. The polarization is on both sides.
I also could have been more nuanced on the same-sex marriage point. My take is that this is the greatest social change that has happened in my lifetime and it shouldn't be any business of the state whether people can or can't love someone of the same sex. But how quickly we forget that Cameron's government only introduced this in the UK in 2013, just 8 short years ago. Then, all of a sudden, we think we're so enlightened and are outraged that the rest of the world hasn't followed suit, so when Merkel voted against it in 2017 it can seem an outrageous thing for her to have done (especially for those who see her as the champion of European liberal values). And nowadays the British media and commentariat is all holier than though if homophobic abuse is heard at football grounds in other countries. Of course I know nothing of Alonso's views on the topic, but the way towards a more tolerant, better world isn't to immediately castigate everyone who isn't moving on the curve at exactly the same pace as us, but to show understanding and love while letting our own actions and tolerant society speak for itself.
